Sarah Palin quit her job

July 6th, 2009 // 117 Comments

In an awkward and rushed press conference, Sarah Palin resigned her position as governor of Alaska on Friday which left many people, including those in her own party, scratching their heads. Was there a corruption scandal about to break? An affair? Or was she just positioning herself to run for president in 2012? All solid theories, but allow me to float one out there that might make sense of all this: She’s a fucking idiot.

To further prove my point, kudos to the governor for threatening to sue the press for doing their job on the Fourth of July. Apparently there wasn’t an American flag handy to shit on, so why not go with the next best thing?

Wow… seriously… get off the politics kick… you suck at it…

#100 Really? I suggest you check yours. The concept of an Ownership Society has existed since the Homesteader Act, it’s practically ingrained in oiur national consciousness as The American Dream since the 1950′s, way before Carter. The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) was under his admin, and had nothing to do with zero down.

CRA regulated banks made 1 in 4 sub-prime loans, and were half as likely to resell and offload their paper. The majority of the subprime excesses came from lending institutions not covered under CRA regulations. Independent mortgage companies were the ones who made risky loans at more than twice the rate of the banks and thrifts.

Bush announced the Zero Down Payment Act of 2004 in January. The initiative was part of HUD’s 2005 budget and would eliminate the 3% minimum down payment for FHA-insured single-family mortgages for first-time homebuyers. The Congressional Budget Office claimed it would generate huge losses, estimating that legislation allowing for no money down on federally insured mortgages could cost taxpayers as much as $500 million over four years because of a higher rate of defaults.

Financial planners warned that sub-prime mortgages and increasingly common no- and low-down-payment programs could be ruinous — especially if housing values declined. If prices fell, people with little or no equity would ending up with mortgages larger than the value of the house. And people who can’t afford large down payments usually don’t have enough savings as a mortgage cushion if they get sick or laid off.

Sound familiar? Wow, I bet you aren’t a Doctor, either.

This is the problem with the 20 percent of Republicans that listen to talk radio instead of listening to reliable news sources like The BBC World News and reading reliable magazines like the Economist and News Week. They get the wrong information by listening to talk radio opinions and not facts.

@96 & 97 (and some of 102), you’re missing the point. Obviously, Bush was President when a lot of this went down. When did I ever say he wasn’t? I only referenced “the brilliant folks in D.C.” in the “late ’90s and early ’00s.” Bush was among those folks. You seem to be reading into my comments a defense of him that is not (and never will be) there.

Put aside your obsessive disgust for a man who’s no longer even in office for a moment and just read what I’m saying. What I’m criticizing here is the government making a bigger mess of things by doing things it shouldn’t be doing. Whether it’s Bush, Obama, or the Tooth Fairy in the White House at the time doesn’t matter. Bad policy is bad policy, and when you start layering bad policies one on top of one another, the result is unavoidable.

The problem with our government today is that the people we’ve put in charge of it over the years think they’re above the natural laws of physics, economics, and human behavior. It doesn’t matter what history shows us, or what every accepted model in a particular field predicts, or even what common sense says the result is going to be. They’re convinced that they can do no wrong, and if something hasn’t worked in the past or shouldn’t be expected to work in the future, it’s only because they haven’t been the ones to try it yet. And when they fuck things up, it’s no big deal. They can just reach into our wallets for the next 5 generations to try to “fix” the situation by doing yet even more retarded things.

#108 Nice try there, but you were the one who criticized the current admin’s “taking on an unholy amount of debt” – as if that debt didn’t already exist. It did exist, thanks to a Republican sponsored bill, Reagan’s deregulatory champion Alan Greenspan and a president who had “beliefs” but no actual idea of how things actually work in the real world. You also claimed the bank dereg had nothing to do with incurring that debt and you’re grossly mistaken on that point.

The point is this: blaming the guy who inherited the problem for how he’s coping with it 10 months into the situation is puerile on your part. If you have a better idea, let’s hear it. “Bad policy”? What’s YOUR “good” policy here? I see a lot of pissing and moaning from the right but not one fucking solution. And in the absense of any acceptance of culpability or anything contributable, they really should be shutting the fuck up about the cleanup bill for the mess they made. One of AIG’s corporate officers whining about returning his bonus (which he only got though the bailout funds) was absolutely disgusting – you can see why the French Revolution was such a success when it comes to an overburden people having had enough of entitled attitudes like that.

We’re now in the unenviable position Britain found itself in at the start of WWII – they knew the war debt to fight Germany would cripple them for decades to come but they had to choice but to incur it. I don’t see that we have a choice but to spend money to save numerous intertwined conglomerate institutions that, if they fail, will take massive amounts of jobs and whatever remains of pension funds with them, creating even more hardship in terms of unemployment and property loss.

#104 No shit. When the Bible was still in Latin, not translated into the vernacular of German, English, whatever, only your priest could tell you what was in it and what it meant. You were then prohibited from reading those common-language publications because coming to your own conclusions is dangerous.

If we tell you exactly what to think on TalkRadio you’ll be far less inclined to question us. It’s soooo much easier to be spoon fed a party line than question it or read or research anything on your own. Interpretation is one thing, but facts really are another. Truth Doctor didn’t even fucking bother to google the two subjects to factcheck for himself, he “knew” the truth – which is only what he’d been fed . All that was missing was the “choo-choo” noise that accompanies the spoonful of pablum. Challenge everything.

  10. Tool

superficial writer you are an alabaster retard and you should realize that you lose fan base when you give out a political opinion

  11. Madalyn

Why are you people so afraid of Sarah? Is it because she has common sense and morals? Does it make you feel better to tell lies about her? The reason she resigned as Gov is because ignorant pukes on the left keep filing ethical charges against her, and it is costing the state of Alaska millions of dollars to investigate, and costing her millions of dollars to defend. She resigned to benefit the state of Alaska, so get over it you idiots!!! Al the charges brought against her so far have proven to be false, so shut the F up and get a life…..Don’t be so p***whipped into going along with shit lies just to try and fit in. Grow a pair and grow up!

  12. Chris Morrison

Sarah Palin is a certified retard. Any GOP member really is and their followers are all conservative; racist dumb asses who will support any one or any thing that allows them to get ahead. I can’t wait for Dick Cheny, Liz Cheney and the bush admin to burn for their war crimes and as far as Sarah Palin is concerned – her I.Q. can’t be more than 80 if that – she’s just an idiot who probably sucked a lot of dick (cheney) to get where she is….her daughter is a whore too.

  14. I bet she was jealous because Michael Jackson was hogging all the press.

If the Republicans can’t come up with someone more promising than this clown, they need to pull a Mike Tyson and save the free worlds remaining dignity.

  15. Guy Bauman

I hope Sarah Palin poses nude for Playboy now she has quit as governor. Shes hot!

To all of you out there who, out of ignorence, are still blaming Bush for this bad economy, remember history. A very liberal group that Obama was tied to; Acorn, allong with a few other other very liberal democrats ie. Barny Frank and Cris Dodd, etc, pressured banks into making loans to thousands of unqualified, live off the government liberal types who renigged coused the banks to freeze.. That’s what happened and how this whole mess got started, and now you are looking to
the biggest nanny state liberal of all who has no experience at anything to fix it all?
Where do you people come from?
    Give me a break !
