What about the single parent that has to work 2 jobs to support his/her children and is away from his/her children a lot? Is he/she somehow a better parent because he/she makes less money? OK, so isn’t the estimated amount of money they get per show like $75,000? You figure after taxes its no more than $50,000. And while that’s a ton of money, they have EIGHT kids to send to college. You can go cheap, but most colleges cost about $20,000 a year for tuition, dorm, books, etc. So that’s a minimum of $80,000 per kid just for four years ($100,000 if they take 5 years). So we’re talking $640,000 to $800,000 total for each kid to get a BA. That would be 13-16 episodes, but again, this is just a ballpark for each kid to get a Bachelor’s. What if they want to go to grad school or med school? And obviously the cost of raising a child is very high, but with sextuplets you don’t even really have hand-me-downs. I think it’s estimated that it costs like close to $500,000 to raise a child to age 18, so that’s $4 million for 8 kids.
These aren’t necessarily accurate, but they’re decent guesses. We’re talking close to $5 million to raise the kids to age 18 and for each to get a BA. Yeah, they get a lot of free stuff, but I doubt that Kate could stop making appearances and shit right now and be able to raise the kids on the money they’ve made up to this point on the show. It takes an insane amount of money to raise a family that large, and they don’t come from family money.
