If you’re wondering that sound you’re hearing is, it’s thousands of “real women” clapping their bacon cheeseburgers together after hearing Candice Swanepoel might be fired from Victoria’s Secret for looking too skinny at its 2011 Swimwear launch this week. E! News reports:
Like all Angels, Swanepoel, 22, is expected to be “healthy and muscular,” according to her Victoria’s Secret contract, says our source.
“There is a really clear criteria for both Angels and the catalogue. Their career path is Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue then to Angel, it’s the highest paying contract there is, period. The image is about being voluptuous, it’s not fat, but it’s curvy,” says the insider.
“But if you start to look skinny and ‘editorial print-like’ like fashion mag models, like undernourished, it gives the image the company does not want. Their shopper is older, their target is the Macy’s shopper. These are young women who feel pressure these models, she [Swanepoel] could lose her contract if she gets too thin.
Candice, who last fall blamed her figure on “traveling,” has responded to the concern over her weights in predictable fashion:
“I am healthy and happy,” Swanepoel tells PEOPLE. “I’m heartened to know how much everyone cares about me, but in this case, everything is normal and good.”
While everyone’s getting all up in arms about this, I think we’re losing sight of an important fact here: Anorexic chicks don’t get their periods. Which is nothing. I had absolutely nothing to add to that. *walks away whistling*

Candice Swanepoel is the most gorgeous Victoria Secret model ever. Just look at pictures of her JUST like two months before this! She was healthy and her body looked great! It isn’t all her fault for being skinny. She even said so herself in an interview with ABC saying that when she works nonstop and travels a lot she can’t gain on the muscles and nutrients. She isn’t naturally this skinny, she’s naturally curvy and healthy, the work is what makes her look like this sometimes.
i’m sorry, but i don’t see anything wrong with any of them… i’m a ballet dancer and i can tell you from experience, it IS possible to be as thin as a rail without having an eating disorder. sometimes it’s in the genetics, sometimes its in the exercise regimen. i wasn’t always thin, but after dancing every single day for hours at a time, i can eat like a fat kid, but still maintain a long lean appearance. i’m not bulky because of how i work my muscle groups in ballet…
but we can’t go around pointing fingers and every person that doesn’t look like us. being ‘anti-skinny’ is just as superficial as being ‘anti-fat’
accepting women of “all shapes and sizes” ALSO includes the thin ones, NOT just the ones that make us feel better about ourselves.

I’m skinnier then her and I don’t have an eating disorder… Some people are just that way. When I was young I used to be so bothered by it and tried to gain weight with so many different methods (Ensure) (Weight gain shakes) None really worked so now I just embrace it. Not everyone is skinny because they don’t eat.
I think she’s perfect yes being too skinny is not healthy but. Being fat isn’t either but skinny looks hot just ask the guys that get turned on while watching these girls parade in bras and tiny underwear.
I actually think Candice looks great. Even though she looks VERY thin, I’ve never seen such a slender girl with so many curves! You also have to keep in mind that she is a fashion model and runway is a big part of that. Even if runway doesn’t pay well, it is good exposure, and then that’s how girls get noticed and hired for ads, campaigns, and editorials.. which are where the real money is at. So if she can’t fit into sample sizes (2 & 4), then she won’t be able to book shows, and if she can’t book shows, then she won’t get alot of print work, and as a result make very little money.
