Fox News Admits Bill O’Reilly Lied

When we last left Bill O’Reilly, he was in some shit (from people who don’t consider facts to be a liberal slant) after being called out for lying about being “on the ground” during the Falklands War and watching people being killed during protests in Argentina. Neither of which happened to him. Since then, he’s been caught lying about several other items he’s bragged about because he’s the toughest goddamn reporter on the planet:

Witnessed the suicide of Lee Harvey Oswald associate George de Mohrenschildt. Wasn’t even there.
Being attacked during the LA riots. Nope.
Watched nuns executed in El Salvador. Try again.

Up until this point, Fox News has defended O’Reilly because 1. They’re in the narrative business, not factual reporting. and 2. His ratings are going up. This couldn’t be going better for them which it makes all the more surprising that the network just confirmed the latest scrutinized tall tale about Bill O’Reilly personally seeing Irish terrorists kill and maim people with bombs in Belfast is horseshit. Via Gawker:

Asked about O’Reilly’s statements Friday, a Fox News spokesman said that O’Reilly was not an eyewitness to any bombings or injuries in Northern Ireland. Instead, he was shown photos of bombings by Protestant police officers.

While I could waste my breath pointing out that this will mean absolutely nothing to Fox News’ audience of senior citizens and people who think Chris Kyle is the true real story of Jesus’ sniper wrath borne into this world to punish the Negro and Muslim savages, I’ll just leave the title of Bill O’Reilly’s book that this latest bullshit claim came from here because nothing I can write will ever top this:

(Don’t believe someone could possibly be that huge of a dick? Go ahead and give that a click. I’ll wait.)
