Donatella Francesca Versace was born on May 2, 1955 in Reggio di Calabria, Italy. Donatella Versace is a businesswoman, entrepreneur, model, fashion designer. She is the young sister of Gianni Versace who is the founder of the luxury brand Varsace after her brother was murdered, Donatella Versace inhereted and is the Cheif Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Donatella Versace is the youngest of the four siblings and she and her elder brother Santo Versace own the luxury brand company. Donatella Versace has done a lot in life through her career let talk a bit more about her career and life.

About Donatella Versace 

As mentioned before Donatella Versace is the youngest of 4 siblings. Her elder sister Tina passed away when she was only 12 years old because of bad treatment for an infection she had and her elder brother Gianni Versace who had founded the Versace luxury brand was killed in the year 1997 in Miami, Florida outside Versace Mansion. Donatella Versace went to study literature and languages in Florence, Italy. 

She wanted to work with her brother in Public Relations but her brother felt she would be more useful as a critic and because Donatella was very close with her brother she ventured into the fashion industry. By the year 1989 Gianni Versace created and launched a line of perfumes for Donatella Versace and named it Versus. This line of perfumes ran till Gianni Versace died in 1997. After Gianni Versace was murdered the Versace family had shifted to a private resort they owned in the Caribbean. 

The Versace company was divided amongst the siblings, 30% was owned by Santo Versace and 50% of the company was inherited by Donatella Versace’s daughter Allegra Versace. After a year of Gianni Versace’s death, in 1998 Donatella Versace had her first ever show of her Haute Couture which is custom fitted fashion design that is made completely by hand and is considered to be very high end. She did her Haute Couture show in Hotel Ritz Paris and she made the runway for her show over the swimming pool of the Hotel Ritz and the runway was made out of pure glass. The best designer clothes by Gianni and Dontella Versace were displayed in the Victoria and Albert Museum which is located in London and was displayed from the year October 2002 till January 2003. The initial years of Donatella Versace were very not very stable till 2005 when she started to give certain feminist propositions for the luxury brand. Donatella Versace created various advertisement campaigns for the luxury brand and the advertisement campaigns would include various celebrities such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Demi Moore, Niki Minaj, January Jones, etc. 

Donatella Versace designed a dress for Jennifer Lopez which was called the Jungle Dress and Jennifer Lopez wore this to the 42nd Grammy Awards which was hosted in the year 2000. During the same year Donatella created and designed the Palazzo Versace which is a luxury hotel that is located in Gold Coast Queensland Australia and was also responsible for creating the Palazzo Versace in Dubai. Donatella Versace was married to Paul Beck which ended in the year 2000. Paul Beck is an American model and the couple had two children, their daughter Allegra Versace Beck and Daniel Versace Beck. Donatella Versace even battled drug addiction and had an addiction to cocaine for 18 years, she battled this addiction till 2005. She also had a lot of tanning sessions because of which Donatella Versace was affected with premature aging of the skin. Donatella Versace even made a few appearances in a few movies such as Zoolander and in the Devil Wears Prada movie her name was mentioned in the credits. She got a lot of attention when she made the Jungle Dress for Jennifer Lopez for the 42nd Grammy Awards, the dress was publicized very heavily in the media. The dress became such a big hit that it became the reason for which Google Images was created. The image of the dress was downloaded more than 600,000 in less than 24 hours. 

Donatella Versace grabbed the attention of the media again in her daughter’s 18th birthday bash which was attended by many celebrities including Elton John. The party was held in the Milan Mansion and Donatella Versace went into the bathroom to snort a line of cocaine and this happened just before Elton John arrived. After Elton John saw Donatella Versace he went to Donatella’s top assistant and said that they were not doing anything and were enabling her to do such things by protecting her. He even said “She is going to die if don’t do something”. Both Elton John and Allegra Versace confronted Donatella Versace about her drug addiction and convinced her to join a rehabilitation center. Donatella Versace climbed a private jet the same night and flew to Arizona where she joined a rehabilitation center in Wickenburg, Arizona. Later when she  published her book she spoke about her drug addiction which she battled for a long time and how the addiction made her miserable and left her paranoid. Donatella Versace almost lost her life and company over her addiction to cocaine. She was frightening her children with her frequent mood swings. Donatella Versace would launch her line of mens collection a while after she was clean and when the dress rehearsals were happening Donatella was sitting on the sofa and was very dazed and her bodyguards had to sit on next to her to help her sit upright. Donatella Versace’s addiction would get worse and she would start snorting the drug in front of her employees, in parties and before fashion shows. She became more addicted to drugs with her extravagant lifestyle, She even mentioned that she used to drugs with Christopher Ciccone who is the brother of Madonna and mentioned that he was her favorite drug buddy. SHe battled this addiction for 18 years and finally overcame it in the year 2005.
