T.R. Knight says things on Ellen

January 17th, 2007 // 41 Comments

T.R. Knight went on Ellen today and confirmed that Isaiah Washington called him a “faggot.” Previous reports said that he did, but in the Golden Globes pressroom Washington denied it ever happened, and then went on to tell Access Hollywood: “There is no way I could do anything so vile, and so horrible, not only to a castmate, but to a fellow human being. It did not happen.”

So there it is, Isaiah Washington is a liar and a bigot, and T.R. Knight is a, well, a gay guy. If you’re like me and don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy then you don’t even know who these guys are. But don’t let that get in the way of you enjoying an awkward conversation between two gay people using the word “faggot” and praying to God nobody in the audience giggles.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if those two had just started going at it right there in front of the audience.

    Oh, my brain!

The likelihood of that ranks up there with hearing a Texan say, “I’ll take Shakespeare for $500, Alex.”

    Awful speaking.

I think Michael Richards should mediate this disupte between T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington.

Michael Richards: “You guys should learn to get along because God hates you equally. It’s a f@ggot and a n!gger!!!! Aaaaaaah!! I’m melting down!!!”

you just know that Knight made all this shit up about being gay, so that when he’s done with the show, he can ask Ellen to phone Anne Heche and invite her over to Knight’s hot tub.

He appears to still have one foot in the closet, what with his utter discomfort in talking about “it”. He should have just said, “Yeah, fuck you guys, I’m gay. So?” Instead, he uncomfortably made references to his sexual orientation like he was talking about a tumor he’d like to hide.

Oh, and mztry, God called. He said he’d like you to STFU.

    he’s right.
    it is a dangerous
    word because the
    next time you call
    someone a faggot
    they’ll end up
    on ellen talking
    about it. and when the
    guy looks like
    he’s about to cry
    you’ll wish
    you had just let him
    give you a blow
    job when you met
    him at the glory hole.

What I’m kinda puzzled about is why he would go on national television to say tell everyone about it. This is something he should have dealt with privately, I think.

So let me get this straight…

When Mel Gibson makes anti-Semitic remarks, we all wonder whether he’s “ruined his career,” he makes public apologies, he enters rehab to exorcise the demons of alcoholism, and he is shamed by the public.

When Michael Richards makes racist remarks, it’s described as nothing less than a “meltdown,” he makes public apologies, he goes into seclusion to exorcise the demons of his “inner racist,” and he is shamed by the public.

When Isaiah Washington makes anti-gay remarks, everyone yells “it’s just a word, get over it!”, everyone tells the insulted party that he’s “uncomfortable with himself” for being insulted, and fail to note the hypocrisy in one recently maligned minority insulting another.

Ah, gay-bashing: America’s last acceptable form of bigotry!

I still don’t know how to interpret this– Is TR (TR?) Knight going on a publicity tour focusing on the fact that someone referred to him (didn’t even call him, but referred to him) as a fag? But at the same time, he’s still working with the guy?

Gays are not a protected class and there still is a thing called freedom of speech. I’m not saying that anything Washington said was acceptable, but I’m just as worried about living in a society where if you say one “wrong” word your ticket is punched. There used to be a society like that. It was Stalinist Russia.

But at least we know with certainty now, that TRLTC. Personally, I was waiting for Ellen to use the term va-jay-jay. You know she wanted to.

30–Do you remember when that gay kid was beaten to death out in Wyoming or Idaho or wherever the fuck it was? That was horrible. But at the time, Anne Heche was playing lesbian then and she said at a rally in DC “There ought to be a law that says no one is allowed to say anything negative about anyone else ever.”

Nnnnnnnnn………I’ll tolerate a few fuck headed statements to keep my 1st Amendment rights, thankyouverymuch.

My basic quarrel with T.R. Knight is not that he’s gay, which matters not to me, but rather that he’s a sucky actor.

I’m sorry to read that Isaiah Washington has been an ass. He’s so beautiful he makes my eyes hurt.

#28- I can see where you are coming from. But at the same time saying that 50 years ago we could have hanged black people (implying that its okay) and saying that Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world among other things is kind of different from calling a homosexual a faggot. I’m not saying that it wasn’t a terrible thing to say, but its not exactly the same thing. Thats just my opinion.

t.r. knight owes Isaiah Washington an apology:
    Washington/Knight “egged” up “fight”
For GLAAD to compare Isaiah Washington’s “alledged”(@ the time) comments to Michael Richards tirade in a public venue is irresponsible & a “mountain” has been made out of a “mole hill” because it could have been handled Man 2 Man or any other parties INVOLVED On The SET. I’ve walked up on people talking behind my back on the job & I just had to straighten them out up close & personal. An on set verbal slight whereupon Knight decided to be a vindictive chump & pump up with “bullies” because he wouldn’t “man-up”, every person should be self-asserting and how about on location not center stage to besmerch a fellow-thespian over a slight which he could have easily aswaged himself. I don’t have NO LOVE 4 U t.r. knight(small, small person).
I’m mad @ glaad, usually do good work 4 the real injustices of gay rights, i.e., violent crimes & civil injustices against gays BUT this CHARADE is farsical! It would be ludicrous if it weren’t TOTAL Character ASSASINATION 4 something 2 b handled internally on set for a verbal slippage(I bet Mr. Washington likes him more than the word he uttered & needed only 2 b rudely awakened to gain his bearings by t.r. knight, himself). All the scandals & skeletons of today & yesteryear Plasticwood!

this guy is a wimp. Silly, silly wimp.

I think he is ashamed of being homosexual i.e. gay! He’s a little child and Ellen is an idiot for making a big deal about this. I think they are just angling to get Isaiah fired. Just like in school he is trying to ‘get back’ at him. Nah Nah-neh neh-neh.

As to if someone said the nigger comment there would be a big deal…I sure you have said it to someone while talking behind their back before. America can be so hypocritical.
