So remember earlier today when everyone was all like, “Dude, Tony Scott totally had brain cancer and that’s why he jumped off a bridge.” About that. TMZ reports:

TMZ has learned … Scott’s wife told investigators the rumor that Tony had inoperable brain cancer is “absolutely false.”
Although the autopsy results have been deferred pending more tests, our sources say there is no evidence of brain cancer.
What’s more … we’re told Scott’s wife says Tony did not have any other severe medical issues that would have caused him to take his own life.

So basically Tony Scott killed himself just to kill himself which raises a whole bunch of questions but mostly these two: 1. Did Tony Scott even really commit suicide? 2. If so, in light of new evidence, can we honestly say with certainty it wasn’t because of The Hunger Games DVD? Seriously, it came out the day before, just bring it in for questioning. That’s all I’m asking.

  1. jim

    He had life cancer, badum-tss.

  2. Wow.
Who would say he had brain cancer and spread the rumour everywhere? Some sicko just comes up with brain cancer. I’ll bet they’re thrilled that they got everyone talking.

  3. Sandusky

That’d be a huge rumor fuck-up, because EVERYONE was reporting that. Maybe he didn’t tell his family?

  4. uber

he was driving a prius over the bridge when he stopped and jumped.. coincidence? I think not.. the car really is THAT shifty.

  5. My theory? The real reason he killed himself was because his wife wasn’t giving it to him regular. Poor bugger… all he needed to do was cast Kristin Stewart in a movie.

    • Jon and Kate Plus Hate

I was thinking something like this. I think he just thought about that douche director with his face full dive into Kristen and he thought “Why doesn’t that ever happen to me?” and in that split second he stopped, parked and jumped. Thanks Kristen… damn satisfied biotch. When does the trail of your destruction end ? That girl is Godzilla I tell ya !!!1

  6. That’s probably it. Hunger Games DVD was sold out and he couldn’t handle the disappointment.

  7. RisingDragonFist

Is that skin cancer on his right thumb to match the lungs, or just where the toilet paper ripped?

  8. Maid in Mexico

It’s just a rumor. Not a tumor. At all.

  9. Dick Hell

So, it turns out the dead guy was healthy. Good for him!

  10. Mama Cass

Did anyone check him for bath salts? Jus’ sayin’

  11. huh?

  12. Maybe his suicide was a publicity stunt for this Coma Conspiracy thing. The most badass publicity stunt ever.

  13. Ldubs

Wow – this man ENDED HIS OWN LIFE in the last 48 hours.

    You guys are gross.

    • Who's your mama

People die everyday. When you die, people are gonna talk shit about you. Same for when I die. Same for everybody.

  14. Mary Feeney

People with incurable and inoperable medical conditions they can’t or won’t live with sometimes opt to die peacefully, an option that is no doubt available to the wealthy without anyone outside a small circle (maybe just doctor and patient) knowing the details. Someone who opts to take his life in a dramatic way that is bound to be painful and traumatic for him as well as those he leaves behind, is probably in a really bad psychological space, well beyond where one might be if the issue was failing health (unless the brain was affected, and we are now told he didn’t have brain cancer).

  15. 2fuf

    > Scott’s wife says Tony did not have any other severe medical issues

So that only rules out any issues that she knew of. Maybe there was something he didn’t tell her…

Or maybe she does know about a medical issue, but doesn’t care to share it with the entire world.

  16. fur burger

Its Kiddie porn, he probably got caught with kiddie porn

  17. Told ya. Selfish grandstanding narcissist. Fuck him.

    • Shhhhhh. That’s a bad opinion to have around here. Dontcha know the guy is a saint now because he offed himself in front of a bunch of people.

      • I’ll say this again:

My brother committed suicide this year – just FYI – so I think I have some knowledge of this particular situation. He did it by hanging himself in a public place, so some poor sot who was just working another day at the job got to find his lifeless, throttled body and hold that wonderful memory forever.

There are OTHER WAYS to die than in public, in full view of innocent people, inoperable brain tumor or not. Tony Scott threw himself off a bridge in broad daylight! Suicide is SELFISH in the extreme and to do it in full view of the public is unforgivably narcissistic!!

      • mismy

I’m sorry about your brother. That being said, our society is numb to violence, death and gore. IF he really scaled a 10 foot fence with tiny mesh “with no hesitation” at almost 70 years old and threw himself off a bridge with no motive (that we know of), then I have a feeling the people who witnessed it are not scarred for life. Haven’t seen any interviews with all these people who witnessed it however- but the media could never create a story out of thin air, or witnesses to this story, nope no way. This rich man with tons of money, successful career, hot wife, children, he definitely scaled this ridiculous fence and killed himself, end of story.
Eric, you must understand that it is not your place to judge another man, you weren’t there, you didn’t know him, and WE don’t know what happened. You are misplacing your energy. There is real evil in this world, and you want to call this man names and cast judgement on him when you only know what a couple of news reports have told you.

  18. Happy_Evil_Dude

And why would the wife speak to TMZ of all people?

  19. Suicide is cruel, selfish and wrong. It is not romantic, it is not justified, it is insane. And it is to be privately mourned, not publicly recounted.

Fuck all of you idiots who ragged me yesterday. I’m done with this place.

  20. We have an obligation to live life out.

Biology and theology shout that we must live. It is the obligation and impulse of all who draw breath to draw another breath, to play out the string and walk the path fate lays out.

It is not always easy, it is not always pleasant. It can sometimes be torturously difficult. But it is always our duty.

We are here to learn and serve, and opportunities to do both extend to the very end of our life.

In the reality of mortality, and our graceful departure from it, is a last obligation to teach – particularly for parents.

We teach our children from the first days of their lives, and we continue to teach them with the last days of our lives. We have the obligation to teach our children how to live, and we also have the obligation to teach them how to die.

Because they, like we, will have to pass this way, through mortality’s portal of terror, and they will follow our lead.

And if we meet our death with grace, courage, gratitude and faith, if we can be of good cheer even as we pass into death, we will strengthen our children for their eventual passage into that same place. We will help comfort them in their time of trial, even if it comes decades after we are gone.

On the other hand, if our example is a bad one – if we recoil in fear and sorrow – all we can expect is for their own passing to be similarly miserable. And what a disservice we will have done them.

Worst of all, we can jump off a bridge.

We can deceive them about where the finish line is and how we’re supposed to get there. We can teach them hopelessness and selfishness, to quit in the face of fear and uncertainty. To throw the last portion of their life away because they wrongly think it is too hard for them.

That is not nature, that is narcissism.

    • Who's your mama

I thought you said you were done with this place. Liar.

    • I agree with you, Eric. Too bad so many people admire this asshole because … well, I can’t think of why. Certainly not because he was doing anything beneficial for humankind.

    • catapostrophe

Who are you, Eric–some kind of Bob Lonsberry?

    • “We have an obligation to live life out.”

That is TOTAL bullshit. And you have obviously never suffered and have no fucking idea what it is like.
And please, never have children or a wife, because I know you would force them to suffer too, no matter what was wrong with them.

    • Joaquin ingles

Pure shit. No one has an obligation to anyone beyond their children, if any.

There’s no legitimate reason to wallow in a miserable state to fulfill some ludicrous religious or “moral” contract.

People say suicide is a cowardly act. It takes serious balls to do what this guy did. The cowards are those who take warped solace in prolonging their tortured existence out of fear of the unknown and man-made theological bullshit.

  21. El Jefe

We will have to wait for the autopsy, but as mentioned before, it is possible he never told his family that he may have been diagnosed with something fatal.

  22. tlmck

Not to be indelicate, but is it too soon to hit on his widow?

    • Schmidtler

you should send her a sympathy card with your number, and a note telling her to call you if she gets horny. that would be the classy move.

  23. WOW

“Tony did not have any other severe medical issues that would have caused him to take his own life”

Depression is a serious medical issue.

  24. You answered your own question, Tony Scott killed himself because his wife was a bitch

  25. Joaquin ingles

Cancer, no cancer… It makes no difference. It was his life to do with as he pleased.

  26. swtnss

not funny superficial. don’t knock the hunger games….he probably saw that you were once again posting on that kardashian bitch
