Seen above vacationing in Greece (Because what better way to relax than to flaunt your ill-gotten wealth amidst a collapsed economy?), Kim Kardashian‘s pregnant body has really stirred up a debate about what’s off limits when it comes to commenting on pregnancy. Since the freshly-shorn Gwyneth Paltrow gave the organic seal of approval to Kim’s pregnancy, many others have stepped up in defense. Most hilariously notably, however, is Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx. People reports:

I think women being pregnant should just be left alone. As a woman who went through that, you’re already feeling like something foreign took over your body. And to have everybody commenting on it, that’s tough. Let her wear what she wants. She’s so beautiful — with a face like that, who cares what your body’s doing?

This is like if the creators of Propofol had said, “Look, everyone just relax about Michael Jackson‘s napping schedule. Haven’t you seen him dance? You’ve got to be well-rested to moonwalk.” Aside from the fact that Spanx is a product that exists entirely on the hope that women feel ashamed of their bodies, Blakely and others are missing the point about Kim entirely. Had Kim not gone on TV and lied about her weight, then proceed to tell the paparazzi where she’d be, every single day for weeks while stuffing herself into ill-fitting or completely inappropriate outfits, everybody would have just continued to treat her with the exact level of respect they’d give to any amateur pornstar who got knocked up by a douchebag rapper in the middle of an ugly divorce to end the sham marriage she staged to steal millions of dollars from her wedding guests.
