I’ll watch it but I don’t consider it ‘real’ Star Trek.

They’re doing to Star Trek what they did/are doing to Star Wars.

Wouldn’t say they are ruining it like Star Wars. The new SW films were just plain bad in every way. Star Trek (2009) was a fun and entertaining movie. It was light on story and characterization. But still fun to watch. Can’t say the same about the new SW films.

Now, I have to go challenge a wolf to a knife fight to offset my nerdiness.

  2. Justin Bieber didn’t get a Grammy nomination? Oh sure, good taste suddenly breaks out right before the world ends. Fucking Mayans.

Took me 5 minutes to write this comment because I had to change pants after watching the teaser. It looks exciting but they are clearly moving from a character driven story which Star Trek is known for towards a spectacle oriented franchise. Financially it’s understandable but still disappointing.

    • They started doing that with First Contact. By the time Insurrection rolled around it was almost all spectacle.

Star Trek (the most recent one) was mostly spectacle, but it did have some genuine moments with Spock, honestly he was more of a protagonist than Kirk. It was his story.

Cumberbatch playing his Sherlock character again !!

    Movie still looks good though.

  5. As JJ Abrams Spock would say, “I’m going to watch the shit out of that.”
