Sarah Palin is gosh-darn adorable a don’tcha know

October 3rd, 2008 // 408 Comments

Last night the Vice Presidential Debate took place between Republican Governor Sarah Palin and Democratic Senator Joe Biden. If you don’t know who these people are, please engage in activities with a high risk of infertility. Anyway, consider this post an open thread/romper room to get your politics on and sound off about the debate. In the meantime, I’ll be trying to salvage my eardrums which feel like they’ve been raped by Marge Gunderson from Fargo.

Oh, and who do I think won? How about I answer a completely different question instead? Waffles.*

*Didn’t get the joke? Don’t worry; I’ll post about Britney soon.

    #30.
a lack of experience isn’t a black or white issue.
Obama has a lack of experience next to McCain.
but Palin has a lack of experience comapred to Obama.
so, politely I ask you to STFU.

  2. sara palin

    NUCULAR!
I’ll answer the questions I wanna, not the ones ya ask!

  3. Sarah

Thank you to both #190 and #199 and everyone else that has a brain that allows that to understood our economy and society work. If you tax major corporations, they cut jobs they don’t increase them and if there aren’t jobs then people don’t spend money. Funny that everyone has turned away from believing in Reagan’s trickle down economics which we all know worked.

I feel very strongly that everyone voting for Obama has no idea why other than its the “cool thing to do” and because the celebrities tell me I should…if you need some celebrity to tell you who to vote for please, dear god please stay home on election day. Also if you registered through Acorn you should 100% be banned from voting.

    good day.

Palin was excellent at not answering questions. Please tell me what policies you like about McCain and Palin. I am voting for Obama for his policies as stated by #197. It is ignorant people like you that the Republicans hope will vote for them so they can continue to ruin the environment and give rich Americans the best tax breaks. You are saying the typical mindless Republican rhetoric. Social programs help improve America like after school programs to prepare our children to be responsible adults and effective Americans. The Iraq war cost $350 million dollars a day. This is a war that cannot be won because the Sunnis, Shites, and Kurds hate each other. You can’t have democracy when factions hate each other and fight each other. You do know that your taxes will increase if McCain gets elected because he will continue to give the rich the best tax breaks.

  5. @122 “McCain is one of the most liberal republicans out there. ”

Okay, please help me out on this one: can someone please tell me why/how McCain is considered liberal?

He’s pro-nuclear, pro-drilling, anti-choice, pro-gun lobby, pro-death penalty, pro-war on drugs, he favors tax cuts for the extremely rich, and has supported policies put forth by the most right-wing administration in my lifetime.

McCain’s reputation as a moderate is, from where I stand, completely unwarranted. I would, honestly, like to hear why conservatives think this guy is too far to the left.

  6. I'm Obama and I approve...

    @5…is Areej Indian for douchebag??

I’m Barack Obama, and I approve this message.

  7. ultimaaster

so, when the election comes and the majority of the people have spoken and the republicunts lose because they have been dicking us for years I would like to say:
Get on your knees you over pompous, always have to be right, bigoted, wealth worshipping, warmongering, lying, right-wing assholes and suck my fucking cock….and don’t spill a goddamn drop.

  8. Torie is not an idiot

    @ 114

    I never said CNN is the ” end-all be-all”

Thanks for not countering anything I said though. That’s very, wait for it…

    Fox News of you!

Anyway, I actually read a big variety of newspapers and watch just about every channel there is. I’m not wearing “blinders” because it’s not like I sit in front of MSNBC all day, nodding my head yes. I watch CNN, FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc. Read everything from the extreme right to the extreme left. I like to be as informed as possible so that my view is not utterly stupid and towards a candidate solely out of party bias.

I see and hear both sides more than a lot of people probably do. It is my assessment that the McCain campaign is dead wrong. They are not a “Maverick” ticket. They are more of the same failed policies that have put us in the terrible situation we are in now. Any new policies they have put forth pale in comparison to the Obama/Biden ticket as well.

As for Sarah Palin. She is grossly and uniquely unqualified for the job of VP. It’s not that she’s stupid. Not at all. She is just not up to speed on the issues that face government on a national and international scale. I’m sure she is a pro at Alaska, but just not ready for something as big as the second most powerful position in America, and really, the world. She is, ironically, a step backwards for women because of her views and the way she conducts herself. Blowing kisses and winking at the camera? Yeah, because that’s exactly how we’re going to be treated equally.

Blah Blah, I’m sure I’m just a big flaming liberal in your eyes no matter what I say.

    @118 Loves you too.

@120 Yes, you may marry me but don’t tell 118.

  9. kdm245

“Reagan’s” trickle down economics worked? Actually, supply-side economics had been popular for years before (and after) Reagan – please go back to your FOX news broadcast.

  10. duh

#187 – we already experienced the direct effects of the sub-prime mortgage fiasco. It was bad, but completely manageable, albeit with a big hit on real estate values. We were waiting for the foreclosure sales to clear so that true market values could be established for owned homes, so that people could learn what their equity is now. You could legitimately trace this problem back to the Community Reinvestment Act.

But then the Wall Street financial crisis hit, with a massively greater impact on everything – especially the stock markets and the overnight commercial lending that allows businesses to continue running. THIS is the economy- and jobs-killer, and THIS is why we’re contemplating a 700 billion dollar (more like 1 trillion) taxpayer bailout. THIS crisis was caused by greed and fraud on Wall Street, not the CRA. For example, there was nothing in the CRA that legalized creating multiple mortgage securities based on the same underlying set of mortgages. At a minimum, that’s misleading, but we’ll see if it’s fraud (the FBI is investigating the banks). It’s also why the financial markets are in chaos – the underlying funding of the securities was eventually called into question and revealed as massively inadequate in many cases, so the securities collapsed, with lots of critical ripple effects. Saying the CRA caused all this is like inverting a favorite conservative slogan – guns (the CRA) don’t kill people (financial markets), people (Wall Street) decide to kill people (financial markets).

  11. NMEwithin

I love it when liberals claim to be informed by watching all channels and all types of news sources and then launch right into the same, tired old Democratic talking points. Sorry but you don’t fool anybody….

  12. missywissy

Did anyone catch that Sarah Palin and John McCain plan on using the Vice Presidency as position in the Senate????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

And she kept saying “nu-ku-ler” weapons instead of “nuclear”. Who does that remind you of?

Guess we’ll be seeing another four or eight more years of Bush. Besides, Sarah is just so darn pretty!

  13. #208

When Regan was in office the people that paid the most taxes were Americans that made $250,000 or more per year. Obama wants to implement this same tax structure while giving the rest of Americans a tax break. McCain wants to continue to give the rich the greatest tax breaks while not giving the rest of Americans a tax break. You are saying the typical Republican scare tactics. Major corporations should get taxed at a higher rate because they make more money and it is only fair. Do you really think it is fair that most Americans pay higher taxes than corporations and the rich? Corporations need employees to run the business and this will not result in job layoffs because Obama’s policy is to penalize companies that layoff employees and move the work overseas. McCain’s policy allows Corporations to have a mailbox overseas to avoid taxes. Please vote based on logic and critical thinking and not on emotion. Vote based on which candidate will benefit you and America the most.

  14. I'm Obama and I approve...

    @95…Hey, That’s my wife!!!

    HILARIOUS!!!

  15. @211

I love it when republicans claim to be informed by ignoring reality. Fact is our country has gone from the strongest economy it’s ever had to a fucking depression in just under 8 years using your strategy. And here you are cheering on the economic plan that has fucked us all. Wake up asshole. The party is over. it’s time to go to work.

  16. God damn but you white goyim are stupid!

Did I just say you’re stupid? Forgive me, I meant that you are contemptibly stupid.

  17. I'm Obama and I approve...

Hey BubbaSticky…shove it up your ass.
Bad as things are here, America still stomps your worthless country’s lame ass.( I notice you conveniently neglected to mention where you hail from.)
We will continue to be respected in the World because we still carry the biggest stick. Even with my chimpanzee-ass in the White House.

ST. LOUIS (Reuters) – Equal rights for gay couples, a divisive issue in the 2004 U.S. presidential election, produced a rare moment of agreement in Thursday’s vice presidential debate between Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Sarah Palin.

In an otherwise contentious debate, both Biden and Palin said they did not support civil marriages for same-sex couples, but both backed a range of other legal protections.

“No one would ever propose, not in a McCain-Palin administration, to do anything to prohibit, say, visitations in a hospital or contracts being signed,” said Palin, referring to John McCain, her running mate in the November 4 election.

Such rights already exist in Alaska, where Palin serves as governor.

“In an Obama-Biden administration, there will be absolutely no distinction from a constitutional standpoint or a legal standpoint between a same-sex and a heterosexual couple,” said Biden, referring to his Democratic partner, Barack Obama.

Asked if he would support gay marriage, Biden said: “No. Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage.”

Palin was likewise succinct. “My answer is the same as his and it is that I do not,” she said.

  19. Sheva

Obama wants the same tax structure as Reagan?
    What a bunch of bullshit.

Obama wants to tax every small business in this country to death: the same businesses that are the engine for job creation in this country.

But have no fear, Obama will dine with his advisors from Fannie Mae/Freedie Mac and laugh all the way to the bank. He protected them and they looted the United States.

In three years, Obama took more money from Fannie/Freddie than almost anyone in the US government.

    http://www.youtube.com/TheMouthPeace

You don’t hear a darn word of it from the media either.
    Gee, I wonder why.

    In response to Number 53:

First, you’re a complete and utter idiot. Here’s why:

BARACK HAS ATTENDED MUSLIM SCHOOLS AND PRACTICED THE RELIGOIN IN HIS YOUGER YEARS

Ummm, no he hasn’t and he has never been a practiing Muslim. This has been debunked by every single credible news organization in the country. Fox News doesn’t count, dummy.

GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. HE HAS BEEN A SENATOR FOR UNDER 4 YEARS.

And she’s been governor for under 2. Of a state with a population of 650,000. Or less than Obama’s IL district when he was a state senator. Of course she had high approval ratings, do eskimos out in the wilderness even get polled in those things? And she was mayor of a town of 6000, which she left $20 million in debt. That’s some Bush-esque management skill she showed there.

SARAH PALIN HAS MORE EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE THAN OBAMA. SHE RUNS A STATE WITH OVER 26,000 EMPLOYEES WITH A 26 MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET. AND IF YOU WANT TO TALK POPULATION, ALASKA AND DELAWARE ARE EXTREMELY CLOSE IN NUMBERS, EXCEPT ALASKA IS ABOUT 15 TIMES LARGER AND HAS A PLETHRA OF NATURAL RESOUCES VITAL TO ENDING OUR DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN OIL. SARAH PALIN RAN THIS STATE WITH THE HIGHEST APPROVAL RATING IN THE USA. wHAT HAS BIDEN OR OBAMA EVER RUN?

Alaska’s natural resources won’t do shit to sustain US demand. The oil there is impossibly insufficient to sustain us, it will be expensive to drill and the pipeline she’s talking about won’t be completed for 10 years. We’ll be in deep shit if we’re waiting around for that thing. And a $26 million state budget is a lot? NY City’s alone is double that.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF REVEREND WRIGHT AND BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY??? IF NOT I SUGGEST YOU READ UP ON IT AND THE WORKS OF CONE. THEN YOU WILL FIND THAT MICHELLE AND BARACK HAVE BEEN WORSHIPING IN A CHURCH THAT PREACHES HATE, RACISM AND A GENERAL DISREGARD FOR AMERICA. I BELIEVE REVEREND WRIGHT, (WHO OBAMA HAS REFERRED TO AS HIS SPIRITUAL MENTOR) CALLS OUR COUNTYR THE “U S of KKK A”

Hahaha, reverend Wright?? Who cares, Obama denounced the guy as soon as he started making his radical opinions vocal. Palin on the other hand, was blessed by a Pastor Thomas Muthee, an insane religious zealot from Kenya who claims to hunt witches. And she’s never denounced that guy so she buys into the notion that his spells will protect her from witches. Witches. This isn’t the 1600′s. The potential President of this country believes she needs protection from WITCHES. Sorry, but I’ll take the racist Black minister over the witch hunter any day.

AGE APPROPRIATE SEX EDUCATION?!?! STARTING IN KINDERGARTEN?? OBAMA HAS STATED “IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO”

The “sex education” they’re talking about would have taught kindergartners how to avoid sexual predators. I somehow think this might be useful information, don’t you? Is McCain for the advancement of pedophilia? Maybe he should nail down that NAMBLA endorsement.
It had nothing to do with teaching them about the birds and the bees. But maybe if Bristol had gotten some real sex education sooner she wouldn’t have gotten knocked up at age 17.

THE GOP VP’S HUSBAND HAD A DUI… SERIOUSLY IS THIS EVEN RELEVANT? BARACK WAS A COKEHEAD IN HIS EARLY 20′S… WHO CARES! MICHELLE SAID “FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY” WHEN HER HUBBY HAD A CHANCE TO BE PRESIDENT. SHE LATER TRIED TO EXPLAIN HERSELF BUT THE FACT IS SHE SAID IT AND REALIZED SHE GOT BAD PRESS FROM IT AND LATER TRIED TO RETORT HER REMARKS.

No, the DUI is irrelevant, but the fact that he belonged to that secession group is not. How pro America are you when you want to break up the union and make Alaska it’s own country? Didn’t they realize that all the pork barrel earmarks Palin got with her hired lobbyists would go bye bye if that happened? The guy also works for an oil company which is a pretty big conflict of interest since she claims she stood up to big oil.

SORRY OBAMA… KEEP DREAMING. TRY TO USE DIPLOMACY WITH TERRORIST COUNTRIES. SLOWING OUR DEFENSE SYSTEMS IS JUST ASKING FOR A NUKE TO HIT USA. DOES HE THINK FOR ONE SECOND IF IRAN BECOMES A NUCLEAR NATION THAT THEY WON’T SELL A NUKE TO AL-QAIDA FOR BIG BUCKS TO ADVANCE THEIR SELF INTEREST. HELLOOOOO?!?!?!?

Hi. Diplomacy does work. Henry Kissinger, the golden boy of the Republicans has even said so. And at this point, the illegal invasion and destruction of countries that are an “imminent threat” seems to be having the opposite of its intended effect. Time for a new strategy, not more of the same.

A couple of points I wanted to make:

Was it me or did she sound like Ed Rooney’s secretary in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? I kept waiting for her to say, “John McCain is one righteous dude!”

I think that one of the qualifications for high office is you have to be able to pronounce “nuclear.” “Nucular” isn’t a word I’ve ever heard of.

Since Palin is such an activist for “women’s rights” as she mentioned last night, can she or anyone explain why she wants to repeal Roe v. Wade? Or maybe you can tell me why while as mayor of Wasilia she made rape victims pay for their own rape kits? Very classy.

Another point she made was her special needs child. She’s going to be championing that cause as VP because it’s near and dear to her heart. Then why did she cut funding for programs for special needs kids in Alaska? All the head start programs were yanked along with assistance to single, unwed mothers. But yet she’s going to champion that cause?

    INSANE.
If you don’t think this woman is the scariest thing to happen to this country, you need to kill yourself now. You’re too stupid to be allowed to vote.

  21. Palin is a joke

@198, first off, kudos on the display of maturity you seem to posses. Secondly, why do you support her??? Why was she so excellent??? Can you give some reasons to support your statement? And yes, sadly a good majority of the population will vote for whoever for all the wrong reasons. But it’s pretty ignorant to assume that a small percentage of voters check the facts, and that you’re so proudly one of them. Congratulations, you can read, we’re really happy for you. Don’t make everyone one who is for Obama out to be sheep. Every Obama supporter I have come across on this site supports their answers with facts. Every McCain supporter I’ve come across never gives reason. It seems that you are the sheep. It’s obvious your 28 years of experience has left you with such great wisdom =)

  25. Michelle Obama

First time… oo oo… proud of my country…oo oo AHHHHHH AHHHHHH!!!…. justified in our ignorance oo oo…. that’s America AHHHHH AHHHHH!!!

  26. I'm Obama and I approve...

@197…Are you the Kennedy with the brain tumor?? Only thing I can figure.

I am voting for Obama because of his policies:

1-Only raise taxes for Americans making $250,000 or more per year.

(By all means…tax the people who provide 80% of the jobs in this country, so they can layoff an employee or two, or two-hundred, in order to pay the tax bills) Not sure how many poor people will be hiring.

2-Give tax breaks to those Americans making less than $250,000 per year.

(Until he gets into office, evaluates the situation, and decides that he has to raise EVERYONE”S taxes…he didn’t know things were THIS bad!! Ala Bill Clinton)

    3-Provide funding for alternative energy.

(When they figure out how to fly airplanes using solar power, give me a call)

McCain did not approve funding for alternative energy and would rather give 4 billion dollars to the oil companies.

(Last I heard, most cars run on gas…even your precious hybrids)

4-No drilling in Alaska. It would take 10 years to get oil and by this time US should have alternative energy. Drilling harms the environment.

(And the last time you ventured into the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge was…???)

5-Provide government health care so that all Americans can get health insurance. If you are happy with your current health care, then the new policy will not affect you.

(If this was such a great idea the first time through, Bill and Hill woulda seen to it that it got done.)

McCain wants to privitize health care which means Americans would have to pay 5,000 for health insurance with no guarantee of quality health care because of no regulations from the government.

6-Obama is Pro Choice and McCain is Anti Choice.

(Obama is also for allowing abortions outside of the womb, like in the 4th tri-mester)

    Dumbass…

  27. Kennedy

    #224 & #255

This is typical Republican rhetoric. You never state Republican policies that you agree with.

We are not voting for Michele, we are voting for Obama. McCain said he believed the economy was doing well and then later that day he said the economy was doing bad. Obama has always said the economy is bad right from the start. Do you really want to vote for McCain when he does not understand the American economy. Do you really want to vote for McCain when he had no idea he owned 5 homes. Do you really want to vote for McCain who wants to give the rich great tax breaks and non to the rest of Americans. Vote based on which candidate will improve the quality of your life and America.

  28. Bill Clinton was an excellent President, except for how he handled BIn Laden, and he was Govoner of Arkansa. Arkansa is not excatcly New York, California or Illinos.

A side fact in 2006-2007, educationally Alaska ranks 46. However California is 47. Californians are not even smarter than eskimos.

Both Obama and McCain are elites. He is a ninth cousin of McCain who is a cousin of Bush, etc. This was on the news and verified by ancestry.com. The elites use race, gender, and class against us, but they don’t buy into it themselves. There are elites who aren’t white men (though most are). The American people are screwed no matter which one gets in. Vote third party or your will be supporting the impending One World Order.

They both support the bailout. Get your facts straight.. it is a scam. The FED has already pumped much more money into the system and inflated the dollar. We need to let the entire banking system fail as it is the first step to freedom around the world.

“The Zeitgeist” is a free movie available to watch or download online as well as many others.. check em out people. I am a mother &college graduate, not some loon. WAKE up people!

NO DIVIDE AND CONQUER! I am not saying there aren’t any sexist or racist people in the world, but most people just aren’t. Real America is nothing like the bigoted separated America the mass media would lead you to believe.

  30. And I am from #50 Arizona!

TAX THE COMPANIES THAT CAN AFFORD TO GET TAXED. IT IS NOT FAIR THAT CORPORATIONS AND THE RICH MAKE THE MOST MONEY BUT PAY THE LEAST TAXES. YOU ARE SAYING THE TYPICAL REPUBLICAN SCARE TACTIC SO THAT THE RICH CAN GET RICHER. THE REAGAN ADMISTRATION TAXED THE RICH AT A HIGHER RATE AND THE ECONOMY WAS GOOD.

Until he gets into office, evaluates the situation, and decides that he has to raise EVERYONE”S taxes…he didn’t know things were THIS bad!! Ala Bill Clinton)
OBAMA WILL ONLY RAISE TAXES FOR AMERICANS MAKING 250,000 OR MORE A YEAR JUST LIKE REAGAN. WHEN CLINTON LEFT OFFICE WE HAD A HUGE SURPLUS AND NOW WE HAVE A HUGE DEFICIT.

(If this was such a great idea the first time through, Bill and Hill woulda seen to it that it got done.)

THEY TRIED BUT THE HEALTH CARE COMPANIES FEARED LOWER PROFITS AND HAD A HUGE MEDIA SCARE CAMPAIGN.

HOW ABOUT I GIVE YOU A CALL WHEN WE HAVE ALTERNATIVE ENERGY TO RUN OUR CARS.

(Obama is also for allowing abortions outside of the womb, like in the 4th tri-mester)

At issue is Obama’s opposition to Illinois legislation in 2001, 2002 and 2003 that would have defined any aborted fetus that showed signs of life as a “born alive infant” entitled to legal protection, even if doctors believe it could not survive.

Obama opposed the 2001 and 2002 “born alive” bills as backdoor attacks on a woman’s legal right to abortion, but he says he would have been “fully in support” of a similar federal bill that President Bush had signed in 2002, because it contained protections for Roe v. Wade.

You need to practice logic and critical thinking. Good luck!

I’ve been reading lots of political stuff today, following the debate, and it’s mostly two things being said on the conservative/Republican side: Palin won (or at least won back her image), and “the country is doomed” (or words to that effect). Nobody’s saying “It looks like John McCain is going to win!!!” Is it really over already?

Republicans have to stop their love affair with Palin. 100% of the focus should be on McCain and helping him find a way, somehow, to win despite having his best issue taken away from him (Iraq) and his worst issue becoming the only issue voters care about now (economy/jobs). Palin’s time needs to be up, right now, and she needs to yield the stage to McCain. The crowds of people who come to hear Palin are irrelevant to the task of convincing independents to vote for John McCain.

If I were running the Obama campaign, I’d try to get people to keep talking about Palin, instead of trying to convince people that her 15 minutes of fame are up. Let Palin hog the spotlight all she wants, all it does now is hurt McCain. And from what I can see, she’ll definitely do that – she’s ambitious as hell, and she’s spent a ton of time needlessly emphasizing that she and McCain have some political differences and they don’t need to reconcile them. Sure, that’s true – if you’re setting up Palin 2012. If you’re trying to help McCain 2008, it’s long past time to stop talking about the VP candidate.

Oh my gosh, I read every single comment and there are actually some really smart people out there, but there are MORE dumb ones! It’s so EASY to see what’s goin on! “Oh Democratic Campaign, you’re so wonderful… you’re gonna make such a great nation… you’re going to help everyone get back on their feet… blah blah blah!!!” Do any of you idiots have any idea how they’re going to pay for all this??? And you don’t think just the rich getting taxed isn’t going to affect everyone??? Hello, do you think these greedy rich bastards who are the only ones without the tax breaks are just going to sit back and let their billion dollar profits just go down the drain? Hell no, they’re going to pass this increase to the conusmers! (Everyone else!! i.e. you and me!!) How is this going to make anything better? Isn’t that the whole reason we’re in this economic mess?
And why is everyone so worried about Sarah’s looks, accent and her “folksy” words? Who gives a damn? She’s a leader, she’s educated, she’s passionate and down to earth. She’s not a stuck up rich bitch polititian who only cares about herself. She knows how to spend money in the right places. As a matter of fact, that’s just a common sense thing that the republicans have-
I’m tired of my tax dollars (that I bust my ass for) go to illigitimate mothers at 17 years old with three kids and doesn’t have to pay a dime for her medical visits because I’m taking care of it for her… or the illegal immigrant who works under the table tax free in America with all the welfare and medicaid he and his family needs… all paid for by me… wow how nice of me! Its not hard to get a job and live within your means. Too bad we have democrats who feel sorry for these people and give them whatever they want, thanks to the middle class worker who barely gets to see the benefits of his time and hard work. Hell, I would rather not report all my income and not pay $100 to talk to the doctor… but that’s the way it is. Its worth it to live in this great nation. But some morons are too scared to hurt anyone’s poor little feelings.

  36. I'm Obama and I approve...

Obama has promised to cut the capital ains tax on all small business owners in the country…problem is that small businesses DO NOT PAY CAPITAL GAINS TAXES NOW!! Most small businesses file personal income tax forms. So this is a clever way for Obama to “appear” to be for the little guy, while in fact, providing no tax relief for the small business owner whatsoever.

I know this…there is NO WAY Obama can provide funding for all of his wild-eyed schemes, while reducing the taxes on 95% of the population.

And if you think he can, you are beyond help.

This is class warfare at it’s most basic. Didn’t work for Mondale, won’t work for the Messiah.

Sarah Palin aka BUSH-IN-DRAG is an IDIOT. Get it straight. She didn’t answer a lot of the questions, she messed up the name of one of our top commanders in the war (It’s “McKiernan” you dummy, not “McClellan”) TWICE, she honestly believes that man isn’t responsible for global warming (another sign that she’s not only in bed with oil but that she’s completely ignorant), and beyond comprehension is the fact that Biden schooled her on the question of what role the Vice President is supposed to have. Article One of the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION. Biden said it simply: The Vice President’s only real power is to vote in the Senate in the event of a tie-break. Bush-In-Drag couldn’t even answer this one correctly! Yet she can sound like a hick, and that makes her qualified? Voting for McSame/Bush-In-Drag is an ignorant vote. Things will not change in this country if the right-wing kooks win again, and this country is badly in need of change! And for the record, I’m 30 years-old and I used to be a Republican. Now I’m proudly independent because I do not believe in voting along party lines, and the Republican ticket is an absolute joke.

For the record, Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar who was far more experienced in all national and foreign affairs than this joke from Alaska posing as a candidate for Vice President. It’s an insult to say that Palin is on par with Bill Clinton. An absolute joke. Voting for McCain is an ignorant vote, he failed these past couple of weeks with his political ploy of leading us out of the financial nightmare we’re in (and by the way, notice that the bill passed when Obama pushed for it, and not when McCain suspended his campaign? That’s a real leader). Don’t forget Palin’s staunch right-wing views, Katie Couric exposed her for the fraud she is the past couple of weeks, and McCain’s exposing himself as the racist (notice he didn’t ONCE look at Obama in those debates, and remember he voted against MLK’s birthday being observed as a national holiday) senile old man he is. Don’t be naive. Obama represents hope and change. McCain represents everything that’s gone wrong the past eight years.

Here we go again with Republic lies.

    These are the facts:

ABC News’ Teddy Davis, Arnab Datta, and Rigel Anderson Report: Sen. Barack Obama’s, D-Ill., top economic advisors announced on Thursday that he is seeking to raise the capital gains tax rate from 15 percent to 20 percent for those Americans making more than $250,000 per year.

“The top capital-gains rate for families making more than $250,000 would return to 20% — the lowest rate that existed in the 1990s and the rate President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut. A 20% rate is almost a third lower than the rate President Reagan set in 1986,” wrote Obama advisors Jason Furman and Austan Goolsbee in Thursday’s Wall Street Journal.

Thursday’s Wall Street Journal op-ed is the first time that Obama’s campaign has pinpointed the scope of his capital gains tax hike on families making more than $250,000 per year, according to Obama spokesman Bill Burton. The details on the capital gain tax hike are part of a broader economic platform that prioritizes tax relief for middle-class families over deficit reduction.

Man, I hope Obama wins. I can’t take four years of Sarah Palin’s annoying voice and gosh darn faux-folksy attitude, especially if Crypt Keeper McCain drops dead. It’s politics, not a pep rally or a beauty pageant. Seriously Republicans. You guys made us endure 8 years of Bushisms. Four years of Palin on top of it would just be too much for anyone with an IQ over 9 to bear. So if you’re planning on voting for McCain/Palin, please do the charitable thing and just stay home and polish your gun or dust off your bible or something. I beg you.

P.S. – If she wore a ball gag, I’d still bang her.

Look, Joe Biden was full of crap in the debate:

He was wrong about the Constitution and what Article 1 is about.
He lied about John McCain’s vote on tax cuts for people making $42k.
He lied about John McCain’s tax plan– it goes to insurance companies, duh! That’s like saying a car loan goes straight to a car dealer.
He was very misleading about Obama’s tax plan, it’s not a tax cut like McCain’s, it’s government spending to select qualifying people through the tax code.
McCain wants to create jobs with real tax cuts.
McCain was right on the surge, Obama was wrong.

Palin didn’t draw contrasts about the financial mess like she should have. It was all caused by government entities like Fannie and Freddie that McCain wanted to reform, and Obama wouldn’t. To blame it on predatory lenders and greed was pretty lame, and it certainly didn’t have anything to do with deregulation.

Are there really still people voting for McCain/Palin? I thought they were just slot-fillers. I’m sorry, you can either have a brain, or like Sarah Palin? One or the other. Your choice.

  45. There she goes again

“”Some of his comments that he has made about the war…I think, in my world, disqualifies someone from consideration as the next commander-in-chief,” Palin told Fox News Friday. “Some of the comments he’s made about Afghanistan, what we are doing there, supposedly just air-raiding villages and killing civilians — that’s reckless.”

Palin was referring to an answer Barack Obama gave at a August 2007 town hall meeting with New Hampshire voters, during which the Illinois senator was asked whether he had plans to shift U.S. troops out of Iraq to other terrorist hotspots like Afghanistan.

“We’ve got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there,” Obama said of the U.S.’s mission in Afghanistan.

Those comments were immediately seized by GOP critics. The Republican National Committee sent out a press release shortly after calling them “offensive,” and demanding he apologize. The McCain campaign has also highlighted the comments several times this campaign season. An AP Fact Check later reported Western forces had been killing civilians at a higher rate than insurgents.”

*** It was being widely discussed at the time. The Western forces were doing their best to use special forces on the ground to guide air attacks, but a very unfortunate series of air attacks killed far too many civilians and triggered a popular backlash that continues today. Ground troops are needed to get the mission accomplished. That’s not just the political perspective, it’s the military’s perspective too.

Surely people know about the controversial border-crossing raid in Pakistan that killed civilians and has led to Pakistani troops firing on U.S. helicopters when they fly over? Or the air attack in Afghanistan that we said killed 7 civilians (based on satellite pictures) but later the Afghans (our allies, not the Taliban) and the U.N. documented 90 civilian deaths after the bodies were pulled from under the rubble (so, not visible to initial satellite imagery)?

I guess Palin hasn’t. Pit bulls are dumb.

  46. JOSH

    SARAH PALIN IS AN EMBARRASSMENT.

I’D LOVE TO SEE THE IQ STATS ON PEOPLE SUPPORTING THESE TWO ASS-CLOWNS.

That’s Obama’s third tax plan iteration. Originally, he wanted to hike capital gains to 26% or the liberals in the primary, then he had to moderate it for the general.

Still, if you recall, Reagan wanted a lower rate, and we have found in the past that raising capital gains taxes can actually lower revenue since it discourages investment. Here’s the key:

In response to Charlie Gibson pointing that out, Obama said that it wasn’t so much about revenue, “it’s a matter of fairness.”

The way Democrats always are– using class envy to stir up big government programs to make everything fair, everyone make similar amounts of money. Despicable.

Welcome to Sarahland!!!!! It’s a magical place, where the sun always shines, everything is just perfect and where reality is simply an optional mode of existence.

Anyone placing any confidence in this woman to serve as Vice President of the United States needs to seriously reconsider their existence on this Earth.

The bottom line is Obama is only going to increase taxes on people who make $250,000 or more a year. It is a matter of fairness. Why should people who make less than $250,000 per year get taxed more than people who make $250,000 a year and up?
