Sarah Palin confirmed for Saturday Night Live

October 17th, 2008 // 102 Comments

It’s official: Sarah Palin is doing Saturday Night Live. The McCain campaign confirmed the Alaska Governor will make a guest appearance on this weekend’s show with host Josh Brolin. For the past few weeks, Tina Fey has been doing an uncanny impersonation of Sarah Palin which the governor was taking in stride but might not be digging so much these days a gee golly don’tcha know. People reports:

It was hard to tell whether the Palins are still laughing along with Fey. When a reporter noted that Fey plays the vice presidential candidate as bubble-headed, Sarah retorted: “That’s funny, I kind of play her bubble-headed, too, when I imitate her.”
Chimes in husband Todd Palin about his wife: “She’s been impersonating Tina Fey longer than Tina Fey’s been doing Sarah Palin.”

Oh my god, a husband and wife comedy team. Hilarious! *puts gun in mouth*

NOTE: Here’s the link for the Sarah Palin Oval Office in case you guys haven’t seen it yet. Try not to walk around saying “Mav’rick” for the rest of the day. I dare ya.

We better hope McCain doesn’t get elected…….if something happened to him we’d have this brainless twit running the country. That would spell doom.

  2. Davo

    Yeah I like that

  3. m

    first :)

  4. B

What’s the polar bear for? Is that how many she shot on the way to the rally? Last I checked, she wanted to take them off the endangered species list. Guess moose aren’t enough of a challenge any more? Or, she shot them all.

    I’d still hit it. Hard.

  5. ArtJam

And The BullShit Keeps Coming From These Two Ass Clowns. The Only People These Two Are Fooling Are The Rednecks And Brainwashed Idiots Voting For Them. Just Shut And Disappear Already!

  6. AJ

Palin is never available to do interviews, but she has time to do Saturday Night Live. The McCain camp does not want Palin to do interviews for fear that the American people will realize she is clueless; just like when Biden had to explain to Palin about the resposibilities of the VP.

  7. Anonymous

she needs to shut the fuck up and take her top off

  8. Hilter

Get a load of that mug.

p.s. in case anyone was wondering, I STILL LOVE KIDS!!!

  9. Mr. Sleepyhead

I’m sure she’ll be funny – heck, her speeches are funny. Her as VP – not funny.

  10. Bush

Hey AJ you ass clown…..Biden was the one totally wrong..couldn’t even get the correct article of the Constitution. Inform yourself before you vote douche bag.,2933,433314,00.html

  11. Mike Litoris

I’m going out on a limb and will declare she will produce a typical SNL

Hence FAIL will now be known as a Phailen

  12. Georgia is a Terrorist country

Palin is a failure. As a matter of fact, so is the whole republican party. Their values are no different from fascists’. They are all kid touchers.

  13. Ol'Red

    Oh boy.

  14. Forget her twisted politics, now who can take this woman’s voice for 2 minutes let alone four years…

  15. Sid

#11 – I’m so shocked you referenced Faux News in support. Yes, Biden mixed up his facts while responding to the question. Here’s Palin’s “response” – try to paraphrase it. One test of whether something is gibberish or not is whether you can paraphrase or summarize it. The outcome of that test is clear in this case.

“Well, our founding fathers were very wise there in allowing through the Constitution much flexibility there in the office of the vice president. And we will do what is best for the American people in tapping into that position and ushering in an agenda that is supportive and cooperative with the president’s agenda in that position. Yeah, so I do agree with him that we have a lot of flexibility in there, and we’ll do what we have to do to administer very appropriately the plans that are needed for this nation. And it is my executive experience that is partly to be attributed to my pick as V.P. with McCain, not only as a governor, but earlier on as a mayor, as an oil and gas regulator, as a business owner. It is those years of experience on an executive level that will be put to good use in the White House also.”

  16. gigi

cool… this should be ‘bresh of freth air’…… is she wearing polar bear lapel pin too??? ughh….. inevitable….

  17. Teflon Bill

Hey, douche bags 1 thru 10 and of course, #12. Get a life already. Palin can go back to being a very well accepted and loved govenor of a great state, unless she gets to move to DC and show you to be totally clueless.

You eleven will still be dumb asses.
I am Teflon Bill and I seriously approve this message.

  18. Sid

By the way, that was her response to the following question:

“Governor, you mentioned a moment ago the constitution might give the vice president more power than it has in the past. Do you believe as Vice President Cheney does, that the Executive Branch does not hold complete sway over the office of the vice presidency, that it it is also a member of the Legislative Branch?”

It’s fine for her to gibber like that, but she really needed to be doing a slow strip tease at the same time to be effective.

  19. sarah

I guess it’s already been said, but my first reaction to this was,

I can’t believe she’s wearing a Polar Bear pin and she’s trying to offer them LESS protection so they can drill large holes in the Earth.

    Can’t wait for SNL

  20. Anthony

She rocks. She could probably kick the shit out of most of your readers with one hand tied behind her back. Awesome.

  21. Bush

    Nice try SID

Instead, it was Palin who got it right. Besides correctly stating that the vice president holds positions in both the executive and legislative branches, she also noted that:

Of course, we know what a vice president does. And that’s not only to preside over the Senate and [I] will take that position very seriously also. I’m thankful the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chooses to exert it in working with the Senate and making sure that we are supportive of the president’s policies and making sure too that our president understands what our strengths are.

  22. FACE

If McCain’s campaign wasnt dead after the last debate, it will be after SNL. This bitch is too stupid to see that there is no way she can come out looking like anything but the stupid bitch that she is. And that is going to get McCain beat. She will be a laughing stock; not the cool celebrity that plays along with their parody like Joe Pesci or Robert DeNiro. I cant wait to see them clown her.

  23. Turd Ferguson

You dummies. That polar bear pin is to remind her what to make for dinner.

  24. George W. Bush

Y’all missin’ the point!!! heh heh heh heh heh heh!!! This is STRATEGERY, pure and simple. That lil darlin’ Tina Fey was gunna do a skit about Tits McGee sayin’ “Obama was palling around with terrorists!” and “we know who the good guys are (white) and who the bad guys are (black)!” and have the other guys standin’ an’ clappin’ an’ yellin’ “KILL HIM” just like them itchy-trigger-finger fellas at the McCain rallies. It woulda gone viral as the kids say and it’da been bigger than anythin’ McCain could put out. Now they’ll have to be all polite-like with MILF Congeniality standin’ there, makin’ ‘em all look like ugly sisters.

But I’d hate to be that celebrity fella Joe the Plumber, they’re gonna run skits that make him feel like he just dropped his weldin’ torch into his exposed buttcrack. People say he dudn’t understand the sayin’ “better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.” Tell ya a secret – I don’t either! I seen it wrote down a hunnert times on pieces of paper on my desk – dunno why they keep leavin’ it there – and I still aint sure what it means! Dang, gotta go – gettin’ reports that a muscle may have moved a tiny bit on my wife’s face…

  25. NoThanks

No thanks. I’m down with Tina Fey’s portrayal of Shoeshoe Barbie. Tina rocks! But the real thing? Not so much. Guess I’ll watch reruns of I Love Lucy instead. You betcha!

  26. For your info

    Hey Fish,

Your URL for the Palin Oval Office is incorrect.

    Not “palinforpresident.”

  27. Sid

#23 – nice try, but that only works with Faux News watchers. I can read. You quoted Palin’s response to a different question:

“Governor, you said in July that someone would have to explain to you exactly what it is the vice president does every day. You, senator, said, you would not be vice president under any circumstances. Now maybe this was just what was going on at the time. But tell us now, looking forward, what it is you think the vice presidency is worth now.”

It wasn’t in response to the question about whether or not Cheney is right in his reinterpretation of which branch of government controls the vice president, executive or legislative (he says the office spans both, the constitution says – clearly – the VP is in the executive branch).

  28. PunkA

This ought to be really funny. Fey playing Palin and Palin mocking Tina Fey. I hope SNL does not blow this one. They probably will.

  29. Erik

I’m sure they’ll be nice to her, they always are when somebody makes the effort to do a cameo on the show. Also they want to try to avoid looking 100% partisan, for the advertisers.

That said, if ever there was an opportunity to play fake-nice and make a series of double-meaning jokes that go over the target’s head, this is it. During their debate, Biden was much better than usual, which meant he was making mistakes and confusing facts and making stuff up to press his argument only about half the time. But here’s the key point: Palin is so unknowledgeable, or so dumb, or both, that she didn’t catch a single one of his misstatements and throw it back in Biden’s face. Obama did that with ease through all of his debates with McCain, until McCain’s attacking mode became so ineffective that he started to lose his patience and temper and looked like a very irritable cranky old man. Maybe not Dumb and Dumber, but Slow (McCain) and Slower (Palin). Personally, I think she had Trig only because she wanted to make sure she was smarter than at least one person in the family. But in a few years it’ll be close…

  30. Sgt. C. Foxtrot

If they make out, it won’t even matter. :D

  31. VN

I wish I could go around to all the houses of all these Republicans and lick the salty tears from their faces on election day. It’s over peeps – Obama has sealed this thing… fuckin irritating we have to deal with waiting a few weeks to make it “official”.

Whatever though, Bush totally screwed McCain from having a snowballs chance, and when McCain chose this twat for his VP he pretty much salted the earth. I love how the GOP folks think the country is just gonna forget these past 8 years and give them another shot. Get your nose out of your bibles and/or your cousin’s pants and wake up already.

  32. Sandy

Pretty disappointing news, actually. There was so much for Tina Fey to work with this week, between Palin’s lynch-mob rallying cries and her jaw-dropping denial that the Troopergate report had cleared her of “any hint” of unethical behavior (the opposite conclusion is on the top of the first page of the report). But they’ll be restrained and I’m guessing they’ll allow Palin to get in a few unchallenged partisan lines. Hopefully that’ll piss off somebody and they’ll ad-lib something in return (it’s a live show, after all). That’s when it would get interesting. But it won’t happen. It’ll be pretty gutless if they save the cutting satire for the news segment in the middle of the show.

  33. Jim

Ordinarily all the “nipple slip” stuff bores me to tears (third grade was a long time ago), but it would be PRICELESS for this show. I’ll admit that Palin really caught my attention (boioioioioingggg) at first, but after hearing her talk my only remaining interest is to see her naked. After five kids, though…I bet she’d fall way short of her still-picture image. You’ve got to admit, the woman knows how to take a picture. It’s like Angelina Jolie before we got to know her and realize that she’s a complete psycho.

  34. Anonymous

I think Teflon Bill realizes that McCain and Palin are toast, hence the anger. Sorry, dude………you are the dumbass. Painful, isn’t it?

  35. Bush

Sid – Obviously you can’t read. The whole point is in response to AJ (#7) and his comment on who was right about the responsibilities of the VP. Clearly…Biden was the one who was wrong on many levels. “the notion that the vice president can preside over the Senate only when there is a tie vote is simply wrong. Nor is it true that the only legislative involvement the vice president has is to break tie votes. The vice president is the president of the Senate, where he interprets the rules and can only be overridden by a vote of 60 senators.” The vice president holds positions in both the executive and legislative branches. My quote was only to demonstrate she is more accurate in defining the position of VP than Biden. It had nothing to do with your quote or your test for who is factually right or wrong….something about gibberish. Maybe you should check out faux news sometime. It may do you some good.

  37. Sid

#37 – whatever, it’s useless “debating” with you. I stated the question that was relevant and Palin’s nonsensical response to it. You pulled her response to a different question to make her look better. You support her and McCain, I get it.

The “fair” part of fair and balanced means you compare the answers of both candidates to the question that was asked, not that you take your nonpreferred candidate’s actual response, delete your preferred candidate’s panicky meandering nonsense, and then cut-and-paste what she said to an unrelated earlier question (essentially, “you both said being VP was a trivial job, why do you want it now?”) to make her look better. When she was asked a follow-up question, asking her if she would follow Cheney in trying to blur the limits between the branches of government as vice president, she clearly was lost. As always with Palin, she performs her prepared statements very well (obviously she had been prepped to describe a Cheney-type role if asked what she would do as VP) but has very little grasp of the fundamentals (if you look at the constitution instead of trying to mimic Cheney, what do you think the VP’s role should be).

From the exchange, I drew the conclusion that Biden is smart but frequently confuses his facts, as he’s done his whole career, and Palin knows NOTHING except the things the McCain campaign has her rehearse. Hence her failure – always – on follow-up questions in any format (interviews or debate), and her inability to correct even one of Biden’s many factual gaffes. In a meeting in the White House with smart aggressive people, she’d be lost. Why do you think she’s had Todd at her side while attempting to perform her duties as governor, even at closed-door cabinet meetings? She’s still using training wheels. But I’ll grant you this: even with training wheels, her ass looks way better than Hillary’s as the bike rolls away.

  38. Huffybike

That isn’t the Palin I want to see on “SNL”; this is:

  39. Joe

God dam I can’t STAND ANYTHING MAVERICK!!!!! Is this lady STILL running as McCain’s VP??

  40. Bush

Sid – Looks like we can agree on ass. Look, I’m trying to be objective here…I know you will never believe that. But the fact is McCain is not my candidate as he isn’t even remotely conservative enough. I gave up on this election long ago as I figured there was no way a true conservative was going to get in (and no “W” wasn’t one either). This is the perfect storm for the Dems and you should enjoy it. However, this thing is much closer than I expected at this point with the legit polls only showing 2-5 point spreads. Don’t get me wrong..I’ll be voting for McCain. As a business owner I just think his policies are more correct than Obama (ie lesser of 2 evils). I just get sick of Libs resorting to calling repub candidates dumb and stupid. Take for example Dubya…A Yale grad, Harvard MBA, fighter pilot, oil/gas co owner, MLB owner, Gov of TX and Pres. of the US. Come on people…you may not like him – fine……but he is not stupid! Same goes for Sarah…she is a college grad, became a mayor and now is a governor of a great state. She’s not stupid. You don’t get that far being stupid. Lets stick to facts and issues. By the way I don’t think Biden is stupid because he thinks JOBS is a 3 letter word. Both parties have talking points and don’t dare go off them. I can easily argue Obama hasn’t really said anything or proposed anything that can actually be implemented. Whoever gets elected (and it will probably be Obama) is in for a real ride. No upside to this economy over the next 8 years. Actually I’m glad a republican isn’t going to win. It may set up the perfect storm for what I’m looking for. Good talking with you Sid.

  41. joss

what’s with the lapel pin of a polar bear taking a dump?

  42. Sid

#42 – yes, we can all agree on ass. Oddly enough, despite its appearance, it’s a “uniter, not a divider”…

  43. Me

You are an ass because you are wrong!

  44. BBC World News

Fox News is not real news. Real news is BBC World News.

  45. Vegetable Lasagna

There is no real news anymore, it all has a politcal slant to it.
