@99.. it’s a REALLY sad thing but i think the REASON most people are calling her stupid (well, me anyway) is because she has the opportunity to be the spokesperson for abused women. and to STICK UP for women who are in this position. Unfortunately, a lot of women still refuse to testify when it finally drags to court – and the state is not on their side, the state is on its own side to make its numbers on a successful case. So it means pressure to face your batterer, going through a tough cross by lawyers calling you a liar because if it was that bad, why would you have stayed? This is a bitch of a situation because most of the time you live with the person who’s now being prosecuted – and he has intimate knowledge of you and your family, and can be father to your kids. It’s not some stranger that has no connection with you outside of the crime. Welcome to hell.

@156… i should have clarified. what i meant by “spokesperson” is that she could be an INFORMAL spokesperson, meaning that if she did NOT get back together with him then she would be the person young girls could look up to as a woman that is able to say no to domestic abuse. i didn’t mean she could go from town to town speaking about the perils of domestic abuse. if she did that would be great but… that’s not what i meant.

and my scenario was not for women it was for very young impressionable girls, who, if put in this situation, MIGHT think something along those lines… i wasn’t saying it was an all or nothing thought. it just might happen for young girls. which is really sad.
