The Irish Made Rihanna Cover Up

September 27th, 2011 // 106 Comments

If you clicked through yesterday’s The Crap We Missed, you might have noticed Rihanna shooting a video in Ireland wearing what appears to be a bikini made out of red bandanas. Turns out the farmer who owns the field also noticed and found his Christian sensibilities to be offended. BBC News reports:

“I thought it was inappropriate. I requested them to stop and they did,” he explained.
“I had my conversation with Rihanna and I hope she understands where I’m coming from. We shook hands,” he said.
Mr Graham admitted that he did not know who the 23-year-old sex symbol was when he got a phone call to ask for the use of his field in Bangor, County Down, for a pop video last week.
“I didn’t know who was coming. If the name ‘Rihanna’ had been mentioned, well, no disrespect but it wouldn’t have meant anything,” he explained.
… “From my point of view, it was my land, I have an ethos and I felt it was inappropriate.
“I wish no ill will against Rihanna and her friends. Perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God,” he said.

I should probably mention that photos came in this morning showing Rihanna running around completely topless during the shoot, so there’s that. But just for future reference, let’s make sure we’re all clear on what’s acceptable in Ireland and what’s not:

- Drinking yourself into a state of self-pissification. Acceptable.
- Punching women in the face. Acceptable.
- Practicing a religion that allows clergy to rape young boys in the mouth. Acceptable.
- Blowing up Protestants. Acceptable.
- Women’s breasts in a field. Unacceptable. “Yell fright’n the pataydoes.”

It was in Northern Ireland actually. And your comments about what is acceptable in Ireland are offensive and inaccurate.

Considering this guy was protestant, he probably doesn’t think it’s okay to blow up protestants…
And this is also Northern Ireland, which is technically not Ireland.
Usually I like this website, but it’s only funny when there’s some intelligence behind it and I’m afraid your comment let you down, by revealing you as a proper ignorant american.

Punching women in the face? I’m from Dublin pretty sure that’s not acceptable. Your comments about what is acceptable in Ireland are ill informed and offensive. There are also 77 million Catholics in the USA so ‘practicing a religion that allows clergy to rape young boys in the mouth’ seems pretty common where you come from too.

Nice to know that there are so many other Norn Ironers on this site but I also found this article offensive, and more than the article I found many of the comments to be vastly so, especially the dudedot fellow.

He really just echoed what the Irish girl was saying previously about being told being born in the barn doesn’t make you a horse. I was raised in Bangor Northern Ireland – and I would say that I and all these other Northern Irish commenters know a damn sight more about the troubles, the religious divide, and the general attitudes of Northern Irish people in general.

I know arguing on the internet about politics is stupid and you will always get people claiming to know more than they actually do – just wanted to point out however that it makes you look a bit daft if everyone else you are preaching on at actually have first-hand experience in such matters.

And fish, just wanted to point out – No matter if many of us wish it was not the case, Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and actually entirely separate from the Republic of Ireland – we even use a different currency. So if you’re going to take the piss out of something without getting your facts right then it’s never going to be funny, just moronic.

Usually love the site, however. So just a little blip for me.

This is the most argumentative, unfunny comments forum ever to spring from this site…Irish people live up to their stereotypes.

    • Your username is is pokemon so either your a “special” or a child . then we living to our stereotype i am assuming your partial blind and did not see the comments that your fellow hun mates wrote and then to criticise us seriously

And if you guys hate Americans so much, stop jerking off to our celebrities.

@TomFrank. Potato vodka? It’s called Poiteen, we’ve had it for centuries and it’s so strong it can make you blind.

  10. SuckMySheleighleigh

I’m more offended at you calling an entire country: alcoholic, godless, pedophilic, woman beaters.

  11. Imoffthen

I can usually put up with racist trolling on the internet but the description of the irish is entirely moronic, the stupidity of the writer is compounded by the fact that the farm is in Britain/UK

its the equivalent of calling chinese people niggers – almost more stupid then offensive
