Ricardo Montalban of Fantasy Island and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan fame passed away today at his home in Beverly Hills. People reports:

His son-in-law Gilbert Smith tells PEOPLE that Montalban had been in declining health for months and died from “complications of advancing age.”
“He was in peace,” said Smith, who said that the actor was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. “He will be missed.”
Montalban was proceeded in death by one year by his wife of 63 years, Gorgiana Young, the younger sister of his frequent co-star Loretta Young.
“[She is] the only love of my life,” the actor said in 2004.

What a classy, debonair guy. And I’m actually not being sarcastic for once.

Rest in Peace, Ricardo.

What a class act. I’m gonna miss him. He voiced a character named Gutierrez for the Freakazoid cartoon and even had the guts to lampoon himself.

Gutierrez: Because he tasks me! He *tasks* me! Around the moons of Vega, I chuckle at thee. Around the suns of Andromeda, I chuckle more at thee. Revenge is a dish best served with pinto beans and muffins! Kirk, oh, friend, I… Oh!

#21…Yeah, and you used to lick my A$$ when you lived on the corner of 2nd and Broadway. Oh wait a minute…when you WORKED on the corner of 2nd and Broadway!

He’s a role model for turning 62 (Wrath Of Khan). They said he wasn’t faking, just didn’t lay around eating mashed potatoes and snack cakes.

  6. Montalban epitomized the suave host image; and he did a great job in Wrath of Khan! he will be missed

  7. Ralph

Met the man twice. What a kind and decent man he was. You will be missed

  8. He was such a class act. So cool and refined, even when he was doing the “fine corinthian leather” commercial bit. I remember when Billy Crystal was imitating him on SNL on “Fernando’s Hideaway” I believe he even showed up on the show with Crystal. He WAS a great actor too, perfect in The Wrath of Khan.RIP

  9. Rachel Rock Farris

My Father was married to Anita Montalban for a couple of years? I met her when I was thirteen years old. I lived in Solvang Calif. and she was always nice to me. I never knew what happened to her other than she found happiness with Mr. Smith. I have always wondered how her life turned out after Ron Rock. I hope she found happiness! I am Ron’s daughter, Rachel, and would love just to know that she has had a meaningful and happy life. :)
