Prince Harry gets screwed by Drudge Report

February 29th, 2008 // 158 Comments

Matt Drudge broke the news that Prince Harry was currently serving in Afghanistan. Prince Harry was really stoked to be fighting terrorists and thought it would honor his mom’s memory. Well, now he’s getting brought home because of the media coverage. I’m sure Prince Harry can’t wait to thank Matt Drudge with a grenade to the nuts. The AP reports:

He was originally due to return to Britain within weeks, but “the situation has now clearly changed,” the statement said. The decision was based on concerns that worldwide media coverage of Harry in Afghanistan could put him and his comrades at increased risk.
The ministry asked the media not to speculate on Harry’s location — or how and when he would return — until he was back in Britain.

I’m not even going to get political because this site is all about boobs and my wang firing laser beams. *ZAP* Take that, empty soda can on Frank the intern’s head! Anyway, I think it’s pretty cool that a celebrity wanted to actually put his life on the line and be a soldier. I’d like to see more of them take that initiative. In fact, the government should form a special platoon consisting of Criss Angel, Ashton Kutcher, Milo Ventimiglia (Don’t worry. I’ll keep an eye on Hayden.), Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Their mission: I could care less as long they test land mines with their faces. Watch out, Al Qaeda, the Dipshit Brigade is on the prowl!

#97. Well thanks you are mighty funny but, honestly there was the 1% of me that was like “oh my god what if I’m actually talking to Bill O’Reilly”. I was 99% sure you were joking and I wanted to keep up the back and forth either way but, since I’ve known many fucking unbelievably stupid morons in my life I just couldn’t 100% rule out that you weren’t serious. Likely the same thing goes for you in thinking I was serious. I have actually met people who fit your Fox News Watcher profile and when they spoke I seriously didn’t know wether to laugh or cry. I guess the only reasonable reaction is to laugh hard enough to distract them, then punch them as hard as possible in their reproductive region, and then go home and cry because you are a peace loving bleeding heart forced into violence by catastrophic stupidy.

  2. Auntie Kryst

@101 I can’t take credit for Fox News Watcher. He’s funny. I’m not, just merely a fan of his work.

  3. eurotrash

sharter are you being sarcastic? its hard to tell on this site.. so many failed attempts at sarcasm. ive always wanted to be someones hero!

  4. sharter

#103. I’m being 110% serious. I love that comment it exactly sums things up without being preachy or long winded, sadly I do not have that ability very often, I get too upset and then I just rant.

#102. I wasn’t sure if it was you since I am guilty of using multiple names ( I hate being trolled plus I am complex, or so I think, and require many names to fit my different moods and contradictory feelings ex: I am a “humanitarian” who hates people). Anyway I have read many of your past comments and you are actually hilarious, so the compliment still stands.

@ doesn’t the at symbol look like a modern hieroglyphic for “asshole”. I wish I could tatoo it on John Mayer’s forehead.

CourtneyB, you are one mighty tard. You said “the sanctions were being ignored.” After the 1991 Gulf War, the UN sanctions were modified to require Saddam to end his WMD programs and destroy his existing stockpiles, using the leverage of restricting his ability to sell oil. He ended his WMD programs and destroyed his stockpiles. So obviously the sanctions weren’t being ignored. You’re referring to the oil sales Saddam made after the sanctions were loosened, because of a spike in Iraqi infant and child mortality. Yes, many of the sales were in violation of the sanctions, but Saddam was no longer any type of military threat to anybody. The only country that thought otherwise was the U.S., and we were dead wrong.

  7. quiet_girl

#9. Pulling Harry out of Afghanistan is for the safety of his troops, not just ‘special privileges’ because he’s Royalty… obviously he would be a prize target for the Taliban and I’m pretty sure the risk to the rest of our soldiers have to be seriously considered doofus!

  8. CourtneyB

“So obviously the sanctions weren’t being ignored. You’re referring to the oil sales Saddam made after the sanctions were loosened, because of a spike in Iraqi infant and child mortality. The only country that thought otherwise was the U.S., and we were dead wrong.”

If he violated the sanctions with his oil sales then the sanctions obviously were being ignored, so you want to try that one again? And I never said he was a military threat so I don’t know why you keep bringing that up.

  11. Sauron

Those muhajedin warriors in the eighties looked like a joke to us with their 17th-18th century rifles.Nowadays despite their modern armor equipment and weapons these allied soldiers look like a joke as well. That’s probably why both enemies are well matched.

He’d better return asap back to his pink palace. He’s a burden anyway for the real soldiers and his mommy wouldn’t like him to break a fingernail.

  13. Defiance

This story is being reported incorrectly. It was not Drudge who broke this story, but an Australian magazine, back in early January.

Drudge discovered the report on the New Idea website and wrote his article based on that.

He is a publicity-seeker, and on this occasion I think quite unethical to pretend it was his “scoop” when it was no such thing.

  14. matt

I’d like to have seen the Playboy Prince patrolling the mean aisles of the Kodak theatre with orders to kill anything that moved. That’d do wonders for the industry.

  15. what now?

CourtneyB seems to know her stuff and argues very wel, so I detect some heinous jealousy and what a stereotype to assume an intelligent woman is large and unattractive unless wlarus’ are appealing to you but, your private life/beasteality is your choice buddy.

But way to go and make assumptions; I think that’s the sign of a great mind. For instance, if I possessed your intellect I could make some assumptions too. Fuck off, #43… “people who [join the military] are better than those who don’t.” Most of the hillbillies who sign up are in it as a way out of squalor, not as a means to actually serve the country, you fucking hick.

  22. Matt Drudge did not broke the news that Prince Harry was currently serving in Afghanistan. An Australian tabloid magazine “New Idea” broke the story last month but was not followed up by other media. The Drudge Report broke the news in America only after Middle Eastern news outlets recently pick up on the Australian tabloid magazine story and it became the number one news story on Al Jazeera.

  26. whatever

#83 – BULLSHIT. Iraq was always a second rate oil producer and never out produced the U.S. “War for oil” is the chant of people too fucking ignorant to look up oil production stats. If we wanted a war for oil, we would have invaded Saudi Arabia. (And we had the perfect excuse for that given that most of the 9/11 terrorists came from there. That is IF it was all about using excuses to steal oil.) Or Iran. Or Canada. Not fucking Iraq.

#85 – sorry to break it to you, but Bush discontinued Clinton’s “plan” for capturing Bin Laden because all the “plan” involved was sitting in the oval office and getting blown by chubby interns. It was never going to work sweetie.

#86 – Bush did finally listen which is why we had THE SURGE. Haven’t you noticed that Iraq isn’t in the news any more? Ever wonder why? It’s stable, and the fucking pussy press won’t report on anything positive in the world.

#87 – Before the war all I heard was how international sanctions were murdering Iraqi babies for lack of food and medicine. Now you want to tell me they were working? BULLSHIT! The fact is the sanctions FAILED and had been FAILING for years. Saddam threw out inspectors (grounds for war), prepared his army to attack the Kurds (grounds for war), constantly harassed and fired on our pilots protecting the Kurds (grounds for war), corrupted the UN and diverted funds to his military (grounds for war), and sponsored terrorism (grounds for war). The sanctions didn’t do fucking shit but put more money in Saddam’s coffers thanks to corrupt UN officials. Don’t feed me that line of bullshit. BTW, IRAQ WAS NOT A SOVEREIGN NATION. Their continued existence was at the pleasure of the international community due to the government’s crimes in Gulf War I.

#91 – you better look up some oil statistics. If we were looking to invade a country with a dictator and oil, it would NOT have been Iraq.

#93 – ahhh, I see, only really mean dictators should be killed. All the ones who just butcher people in their own country should be left alone. By that fucked up logic, lets release all the murderers in prison. Combined they haven’t killed as many people as Saddam.

Oh, and there was no fucking chance of Iraq turning into WWIII. Moron.

And finally: I have friends who served in Iraq. The Iraqis they talk to don’t share the views you claim come from Iraqis. I’ll take their word over yours.

#95 – FACT: Saddam was legally obliged to allow inspections at any time to verify that he was not attempting to build WMDs.

FACT: any time Saddam failed to comply with those terms he could be legally and forcefully removed from power.

FACT: Saddam violated those terms for years, and nobody in the world could tell what he was doing with diverted oil funds because it had been so long since Saddam had complied with inspections.

FACT: America had just been attacked, and was watching Saddam cozy on up to Al Qaeda fleeing Afghanistan.

So it turned out Saddam was lying to impress Iran and there were no WMDs. Do you honestly think a U.S. president should have assumed that and risked American lives? FACT: Bush made the right call given the information he had at the time. He errored on the side of defending this nation and its people. He’s a good president for doing that. Unlike Bill “I got a blowjob!” Clinton who did NOTHING after the WTC was bombed and NOTHING after the USS Cole was bombed. Fuck that piece of shit.

Can we set up a new deployment for Harry… in my pants!

  28. Donkey Punch

“Leaked” my ass. Obviously it was a photo op by all the professional photos. The royal family wanted him to serve a little time and then they “forced” him back to safety by “leaking” the photos.

Don’t believe for a second that this wasn’t just a public relations exercise to keep the proletariats happy and show that the Royal Family also risks their lives for country.

first off uve got waay too much time on ur hands and its annoying to write such long posts. second, chill the fuck out – this is the superficial not a UN debate. and finally, you conveniently ignored my statements about bin laden being in afghanistan (NOT IRAQ). Once again no one is disputing the fact that saddam was a horrible dictator, but come on…9-11 had nothing to do with him. You sound like one of those people who a few years ago dumped french wine in the streets while munchin on ur freedom fries, and now that finally you’ve come to realise that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 you still defend this stupid war by continuously pointing out what a monster saddam was. I know you americans think everything is a competition that can be won, but war is a messy affair where innocent civilians always pay the highest price. It is a last resort, not something to be rushed into even though pretty much everyone outside the US warned you against it.

why is it if bad shit is happening in another country, america is required to go over and take care of it like ‘big brother’ for the whole fucking world? i will not deny that Hitler totally fucking sucked and is burning in hell, but the one of the reasons we got involved in WWII was because japan attacked us. we were holding out because it had nothing to do with us up until that point (very general summation).

im so fucking sick and tired of hearing all these problems of tribal, religious wars, world hunger in the third world countries and somehow we have to act like the nosy neighbor that has to stick their head in everyone’s fucking business and is required to make it all better. what the fuck are the citizens of the country doing? maybe they should try to take care of their own fucking problems and take power of their own country. or how about fucking moving?

i would much rather see america’s tax dollars spent on american problems like our increasingly shitty educational system, the housing market, personal debt, and our own problems with homelessness and hunger, etc. we did we stop focusing on our own country to wedge ourselves into the world’s problems? i say, fuck the world until we get our own shit straight for awhile….then wait and see how much the world really needs us; they’ll quit talking their shit about us real quick.

  34. Ben Smith

Its rare that I feel anything for members of our Royal family, (I’m no Royalist!), but I do feel for Harry, despite his previous bouts of acting like a dick when told he couldn’t go to Iraq, he really wants to get out there and put his arse on the line and get his hands dirty, not many celebs these days would be willing to do that.

But he can’t because of who he is.

  35. citizen of the world

#133. You are exactly what is wrong with this world. It’s called empathy and compassion and the world is a fucking sphere so we are all connected and affected and it’s basic humanity to help those in need. Go ahead on your little it’s not my problem cake walk through life but next time you have an illness or need help maybe people should tell you sorry it’s not my life it’s your problem. You have obviously never traveled and understanding nothing about this world. The continent and country divisions we live in are man made and not substantial enough to completely separate us, in the end we are all connected. At the toss of a coin you could have been born in Africa with a father killed by the military, a mother with aids, worms in your stomach and nothing but brown water and dirty rice to eat. You DON”T choose your starting point in life and many countries and people have been so discriminated against and have so many problem that they need outside help and only an inhumane asshole selfishly ignores it. If you had ever been to developing countries and had a proper education and weren’t so closed minded this wouldn’t need to be explained to you. But I suppose you have never needed help from anyone and you have accomplished everything on your own. It’s one world, one race and we all need to pitch in and help out if this world is going to get any better. I do agree that meddling and condescending to other countries is wrong but, helping them in a dignified way is incredibly important and YOU do suffer the consequences of other countries problems you just don’t know it or have the capacity to understand it. Every second a child dies of extreme poverty in this world. Do you understand the untapped potential that is wasted? People are born with genetic talents, gift, and capacities. The child who could have grown up to find the cure for cancer may have died in Africa at the age of two. It is unacceptable to have a world where so much of it is wasted and so many live in poverty and are never able to enjoy so many of the things you take for granted. You clearly have so much in your life that you take for granted and you have never taken the time to have empathy or understanding for others. You could not possibly understand or imagine the challenges faced by people in war torn countries and countries with immense poverty and you are lucky that you never will go through so much tragedy in your life. But, it was not your choice to not face those challenges. Nor was it their choice to face those challenges. Do you know what genocide is? Have you any understanding of the immense problems in this world and how so many innocent people are caught up in so much misery and desperately need our help. I highly doubt, unless you are a soulless psycho, that you would deny helping a suffering child if they were right in front of you. Unfortunately they aren’t right in front of you so it’s easy to shut it out and just say hey it’s not my problem but, only a selfish coward would do that good kind people would want to do something to help. If you are never able to find the joy of helping others and making a difference in this world regardless of people’s nationality or geographic location then you are bound to have a miserable life because you will never know the depth of life or the sensation of living it to the fullest and being a truly wonderful giving and generous person. If all people thought like you the world would be a disaster and no one would ever help anyone. I’m sure you have helped people in your life even though it wasn’t your problem so you are being a complete hypocrite and you have yet to understanding the meaning of life; giving back and making this world a better place. If you have never helped anyone than you’re not a hypocrite, you are the definition of all that is negative and selfish in this world. Take your pick, either way your future looks pretty grim unless you grow a heart and open that tiny little mind of yours.

  44. mamadough

a country needs to focus on its own problems at hand before tackling outside issues. i don’t think the world should always rely on america as the majority to throw money their way to help out with their problems. im more pissed about a child dying from hunger or freezing to death or dying because lack of health insurance in my own country than another country. every country has the potential to be greater, for their own people to be prosperous, healthy and happy, but america can’t make that happen for them.

im a strong believer in survival of the fittest. if you are dying because you live in the desert and can’t grow food or obtain water, move out of the fucking desert! and if i was hungry or homeless, i wouldn’t EXPECT and DEMAND help from others before i attempted to help myself first. i guess being independent making myself educated about my own situation is a bad thing.

notice that i never said i didn’t care that others from those countries are suffering. but i think that they should take control of their own problems and lives before taking money away from america’s problems to solve their own. they are like our international welfare program.

I cannot believe it too. I will be surprised if season 2 makes it through the entire season. I could only stomach 1 minute of the show and quickly changed it after I saw Kim’s little sister dancing like a stripper. I don’t think Kim can exploit herself anymore than she already has in the past, so her TV show will bomb this year. She has no talent and basically got famous for doing porn and also because some men like to beat off to her.

Typical blind Republican. Yeah Clinton got a BJ from a loney and desperate intern that kept throwing herself at him. And yes Clinton has a high sex drive and could not help himself after Monica continued on and on and on until he gave in. (Read the Star report). Clinton was closer to getting Bin Laden than Bush ever was, but bonehead Bush never continued with Clintons plan because he pulled important miliary resources to invade Iraq. Wars generate money for the elite. Bush cannot even rebuild Iraq like USA did for Europe with the Marshal plan.
