A ‘Power Rangers’ Video Starring Dawson Is Exploding The Internet

If there’s one thing this job has taught me, it’s that the Internet makes no goddamn sense (Except for celebrity cleavage. Celebrity cleavage is its constant.) and will be the death of us all. Which brings us to Power/Rangers a short film by director Joseph Kahn starring Katee Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek that’s a “dark and gritty” reimagining of the Power Rangers made out of boredom just for the hell of it. Via HitFix:

“What I really want to accomplish when you watch, is you should really take it seriously. There’s nothing playful except for maybe the Hip-Hop-Kido thing. Maybe a few little like motivational character [things], interactions and stuff. Overall, it’s a very serious thing. The joke isn’t that you’re laughing at each particular scene; the joke is that we did this ‘fuck you’ thing in the first place. You’re going to look at it and you go wow I can’t believe they fucking did that.”

As for how well it worked? Try to watch this thing in HD and it will buffer like a motherfucker because so many people are streaming it. It being a “gritty” Power Rangers movie starring Dawson’s Creek. This is what you’re doing with the Internet today. I’m holding a mirror up to your face, and the reflection is asking why Pacey isn’t the Blue Ranger. As long as you’re cool with that.
