We’ve done some digging around and the pop-ups are most likely coming from spyware you probably got from another site and already have installed on your system. For some reason this site happens to trigger the spyware, but we’ve gone through and are almost positive you didn’t get it from here. If you’re still experiencing pop-ups, download Spybot Search & Destroy (Mac users can try MacScan though I can’t vouch for it), run it, and that should remove the spyware from your system and stop the pop-ups.
NOTE: It’s possible a malicious ad slipped in from one of our third party ad providers, but it seems unlikely since none of our staff has ever gotten it and we’re on the site the most. Plus, some of you are reporting you haven’t gotten the pop-up since the last time we posted about it, but we haven’t changed a single thing on our end.
UPDATE: If you run Spybot and are still getting pop-ups please let us know. We let our ad brokers know about the situation and we’re still trying to pinpoint the source, so if the problem is still occurring we really want to know about it.

It was happening for me, and I spend all day on the internet and had it only happen on this website. Plus I use a MAC and firefox – making it hard for me get infected with spyware. The malicious ad I got was about spyware and my windows operating system (which doesnt exist on this computer of course).
I am sure it wasnt from anywhere but this site – maybe one of your ad networks got something malicious they shared.
I started getting popups immediately after visiting your website a couple weeks ago. Internet Explorer popups, and I don’t have that installed on my computer. I also get a few WinAntiSpyware popups in Mozilla Firefox, and that had never happened beore.
I long ago downloaded Spybot Search & Destroy when my brother recommended it to me, but it isn’t stopping the popups.
Here’s a hint…
Run Linux.
I do…. And have never gotten a single popup from this site.
I haven’t seen any problems since the last time you posted about it. A week or so ago. It was happening every day for about 1-2 weeks and then stopped all of a sudden. I didn’t change anything on my end.
Anyway… not complaining! I’m thrilled it’s gone bc you guys are my fav site EVER!!! Keep up the good work – and more stories pleeassee! Can’t you hire some people to write on the weekends? Hell – offshore it to India or something. I hate looking at the same picture all weekend… xcept for the one of Posh’s nipples that was hot.
XOXOXOXO
yeah it was your site. there’s no spyware for macs, and I was getting the popup only from your site. Hasn’t happened in a while though.
Right after I saw that pop up back whenever that was, I ran this Housecall trend micro thingy on my mac http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/. I haven’t seen the pop up since then, but I have no idea if that’s just a coincidence or not.
I only saw the pop up when I clicked to enlarge one of the pictures on here, but I don’t remember which one. The pop up said that someone was tracking what porn I view. Lucky them, I said
also, her dad was o.j.’s coke dealer
kim kardashian’s, that is
This site triggered pop ups for me. I found spyware that had to be removed by me. Can’t recall what it was called but I couldn’t turn the window off and it tried to download stuff. It looked like a windows pop up.
Macs don’t really get spyware so…
In other words, what I am trying to say is, the “virus” or “popup” came from this site. Anyone on any computer can SEE it, but it only effects Windows computers.
And it did come from this site. They deny it or not.
PPS
That’s why I block all ads, and popup windows.
I am on a Mac. I used the macscan, had NO spyware, no tracking cookies, no shit whatsoever.
But whatever you guys did last time fixed it, I haven’t gotten a popup since.
I have a crappy Dell and got no pop-ups or problems (other than Italian Stallion getting mean when coming off drugs) from SuperFish but I downloaded the Spybot just because Fish told me to. I do that. I do stuff just because Fish tells me to.
Yeah, well, it’s just like the Superfish to claim it’s not his fault and must be ours. All these people who go to this site must have been infected somewhere else, but it only shows up on this site??!!?? And no where else??!!?? I smell something super fishy here. Like don’t blame me, don’t sue me, I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t know what happened, I’m not responsible. Really immature behaviour, if you ask me. Or that of a liberal. Liberals always want to blame everyone else when they do something wrong. Superfish, why don’t you just own up to it and say that this site had a glitch?
The Re-Direction to other websites that take over your browser are due to Flash adverts. Block flash ads and you will no longer suffer the problems :)
I have previous experience of this on other sites.
Way to send us the fucking spam, viruses, and pop-ups, Superficial.
You da’ man!!!
Your site sucks! j/k. I have gotten numerous virus’s from your website. Get your shit together, will ya? What the fuck? Now I have to use someone else pc just to visit the website.
You stupid people.
Why don’t you take an interest in protecting your PC instead of wildly accusing and blaming people on websites. Or if you don’t like the site- then f-ing leave. People who actually KNOW HOW TO USE THEIR COMPUTER can come here. No one is making you.
Yes you can run windows and run this site- I have no problem at all.
Why don’t you wake the F up and take a damn class or something.
Spybot S&D is one of the most useless “spyware removal tools” (which it hardly can be called) in the world. You should rather try Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware.
I happened to do a complete OS reinstall – I went to 2 sites — yours and tmz’s – the popup’s stated then ( I do beleive it was tmz…… ) -Info for you.
It happened on this site and IWatchStuff in Firefox, and is definetly something from this site. It’s over now though.
i got no pop ups from here
