During a speech on Monday at a Baltimore fundraiser for Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School, Oprah Winfrey talked about how rich she was and how fantastic it was. Seriously.

I’m not one of those people like, ‘Well, we must renounce ourselves.’ No, I have a closet full of shoes and it’s a good thing. I was coming back from Africa on one of my trips. I had taken one of my wealthy friends with me. She said, ‘Don’t you just feel guilty? Don’t you just feel terrible?’ I said, ‘No, I don’t. I do not know how me being destitute is going to help them.’ Then I said when we got home, ‘I’m going home to sleep on my Pratesi sheets right now and I’ll feel good about it.’ “

Normally, I am a huge fan of making fun of celebrities… But, I love Oprah. I don’t really watch her show, but I met her on a trip to Chicago. And she is a wonderful person.
For those of you who don’t know, she donates ridiculous amounts of money to a lot of charitable causes.
Next, Why would she single-handedly pay to rebuild a city that:
A. She doesn’t live in or near.
B. Will be back underwater in 20 years because THEY BUILT IT BELOW SEALEVEL.

C. Bill Gates could pay for it, too. But you’re not giving him shit.
On to what this site is really about: cxelebrity gossip. I am from a small town in the middle of cornfields in Illinois. And ocassionally, I catch a train to Chicago. One time I was up there (like 4 years ago) and was shopping in Water Tower Place. The girl I was with and I were talking about how Oprah allegedly shopped there all the time and how funny it would be to see her. We then discussed how when she goes out, she doesn’t wear make up and people don’t recognize her. That was a lie, because from the look she gave us when she turned around, we knew it was her. And she did look like a wrinkly skleton or something that is in desperate need of make up.
I couldn’t read through all of these comments because it seems like so many of you try really hard to be witty and funny like the website. It’s just annoying. Stop.

Yes, she could donate every last cent she has to feed the poor people in Africa, but they will be hungry again in 6 months. Instead of solving the problem that way, she’s building schools and educating people so they can learn to take care of themselves. She’s approaching their problems with a long term solution.
I would lecture people on not being judgemental unless you know exactly what it’s like to be in her shoes, but then again this is thesuperficial. So of course no one here cares about empathy. Damn haters.

Hey, I am 55 years old. I have been there and done almost everything. I refused to watch “Rider” and “Bay.” But, IMHO, this guy deserves a break. He’s not only not that bad, he’s pretty damn good. Try it yourself before you pass judgement people. Is he a ground-breaking, Lennon/McCartney-type musical genius? No. Is he trying to be? No! But is he a talented TV star and pop artist? Yes! We cannot all be diamonds and pearls. But we can be competent at what we do, if we are bold enough to give it a try. David does not deserve the ridicule that you heap upon him.
