Naya Rivera: ‘Showering Every Day Is A White People Thing’
In what will undoubtedly be one of the crowning and most influential discussions on race relations of our time, Naya Rivera went on The View yesterday and basically went, “White people be all like, ‘I’mma shower every day.’ But brothas be like, ‘Shit, I’ll just take one every three days.'” So naturally that became one of the top trending stories on Facebook because did you see that Black Mirror episode where that dude had to fuck a pig? I still don’t really get what that was about, but I’m pretty sure it applies here. Maybe. E! News reports:
“I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnic,” Rivera said as Wallace couldn’t help but burst out into a fit of giggles. “I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.”
Except that’s when shit got real because Rosie O’Donnell found a black woman in the audience who showers every day and, goddamn, this is riveting television! So how did Naya respond? Race card, motherfucker!
“My mom is half black, half Puerto Rican. She showers every day, so I can say this. But I’m now married to a white man,” she said, referring to husband Ryan Dorsey, whom she secretly wed in July 2014. “And he showers a lot, like two, three times a day.
“I’m like, ‘What are you doing?'” she added with a laugh, mocking her hubby’s frequent habit.
And before everyone tells me it’s actually not healthy for your skin to shower every day, where the hell am I supposed to go where you can’t tell I’m crying? It doesn’t rain that much, you jerks! – *runs away crying, gets in shower* – I’m not crying! This is just water! It’s just water from the spigot! I’M A BIG BOY, DAD.
