Miss California goes to Washington

April 30th, 2009 // 194 Comments

The controversial Miss California Carrie Prejean stopped by The Today Show this morning to announce she’ll be joining the National Organization for Marriage and their “Gathering Storm” in Washington to campaign against gay marriage. E! News reports:

“I think this is a huge issue right now. People are very passionate of this issue. I think regardless of our opinions, we just need to respect each other when we disagree. It’s all about respect.”
If so, somebody forgot to tell the organizers of the Miss California pageant, whose codirector Keith Lewis today released the following statement on Prejean’s foray into political activism:
“In the entire history of Miss USA, no reigning titleholder has so readily committed her face and voice to a more divisive or polarizing issue. We are deeply saddened Carrie Prejean has forgotten her platform of the Special Olympics, her commitment to all Californians, and solidified her legacy as one that goes beyond the right to voice her beliefs–revealing instead a much more opportunistic agenda.”

Of course, the most hilarious aspect of this story is it comes off the heels of Shanna Moakler’s revelation to Access Hollywood that The Miss California Organization paid for Carrie to get breast implants:

The organization paid for Carrie’s breast enhancement prior to her competing in the Miss USA pageant, which was held in Las Vegas, almost two weeks ago.
“It was something that we all spoke about together,” Shanna said referring to herself, Carrie and Keith Lewis, Shanna’s co-executive director. “It was an option and she wanted it. And we supported that decision.”

So, let me get this straight, Jesus is cool with fake tits, morally bankrupt beauty pageants and constant media whoring, but not gay marriage? Huh. I never really pictured JC as a homophobic douchebag from Orange County, but that seems to be the message these days. Keep spreading the Good News, Carrie!

Wow by the logic of this ass women who have had breast cancer and got implants can no longer call themselves Christians. You just lost me as a reader Superficial.

  2. N Waff

It’s amazing that Carrie Prejean is labeled by the Miss USA organization as “divisive and polarizing” which is only true if you learned your morals from Sodom and Gomorrah. The homosexual agenda is supposed to promote tolerance and anti-hate but they are filled with the most intolerant and most hateful hypocritical people. Homosexuality is “divisive and polarizing” and it’s getting worse and worse. “After the Ball” told us we’d get used to the stench of the homosexual camel after it’s nose was stuck in the tent long enough but the stench is getting worse and worse.

The attacks on Prejean is another example of how filthy and ugly liberals always get. Assassinate the character of someone because they stand-up for time-honored traditional values. Liberalism will bash the conservative about the head and face until they will shut-up from the profuse beating. It’s standard

  3. be sure: WASHINGTON D.C. that is, folks!!

  4. justifiable

#148 I hate to break it to you, but as an “enlightened liberal” I need to inform you that bigamy is also illegal in Utah – as well as the rest of the 49 states.
Utah doesn’t issue any marriage licenses for wives 2, 3, 4 etc., nor can they legally file as “married” on their state returns or 1040′s for the benefits Plural marriage is a church issue, and those marriages are not legalized by either the state or the Federal government. The fact that the Mormon-heavy state government runs away rather than prosecute child abuse in plural underage marriages is a disgrace. They also don’t want to deal with welfare fraud, which is your tax dollars being used to support the multiple offspring of some guy’s harem of wives – who claim not to know the whereabouts of the father, yet manage to still have more of his children like clockwork. Think that’s fair and right? I don’t.

Kentucky won’t recognize a marriage to your first cousin, even if you marry in another state. 26 states also have this stipulation. Since this applies to a man and a woman, a “normal” marriage (your term), I fail to see how this relates to denying gay marriage. The law exists to reduce the drastic genetic consequences of inbreeding – since two gay people can’t breed with each other, how is this relevant? If you feel your civil rights as cousins aren’t being represented, seek redress in the courts. But first look up “red herring”. You’ll find it listed under “irrelevancies”.

“Separate yet equal” didn’t work as a defense for segregation, because that distinction meant there were really two classes of citizens – and that is NOT what America is all about. Here, all are supposed to be equal, no different under the law. So why should this argument be extended to civil unions, which aren’t even close to being the same as legal marriage? Cut the crap and expand the definition of legal marriage to include same gender so we all have the same rights. It won’t “devalue” your hetero union, any more than women getting the vote devalued a right traditionally held by men. Nor will it have an impact in how any religious institution continues to define or perform it.

  5. tons of sarcasm

    #152
Oh boo effing hoo, so everyone who disagrees should just shut up when gays are called “an abomination” and all sorts of nasty names? I’m not Gandhi, lady, and neither are you from reading your post. “Stench” huh? I didn’t get my morals from Sodom and Gomorrah, but I have a suspicion that’s where you learned your manners. Where you got your education is anyone’s guess but you really depend on a double standard to function, don’t you?
Listen, no one with a brain is telling Prejean to STFU. And having fake boobs doesn’t make her any less of a Christian. She has a right to speak her mind as an individual. But the pageant may not want to sponsor her and that’s theirs -she’s their employee. They’re footing the bill and they may see her political activism as a betrayal of their agenda — that is to promote the state of CA They’d probably feel the same way if she were promoting gay marriage or if she’d posed for naked photos.
Some people feel her opinion is bigoted and they’ll damn well stand up and say so if they feel that way – and she’s not a protected species just because she claims the Bible backs her up. Some people are abusive and nasty – not nice, but so what? There’s no law out there that says if you’re a Christian you’re somehow protected from any fallout that results from your going forth and judging others. Get off your damn high horse lady. If you decide it’s your purpose in life to dish it out, be prepared to take it as well. Check out any playground because THAT’S what’s standard in this country.

  6. kiko

Everyone cries about freedom of speech and personal rights…

until someone voices an opposing viewpoint.

Ms. California is expressing her viewpoint, which many Californians agree with if you look at the last election.

So all you supposedly open minded people attack not only her, but her religious beliefs.

    You don’t see the hypocrisy?

  7. Bell

To the guy who writes this blog:
You are funny, and most of your points make you sound non-gay. But your over the top attack on this girl for voicing her opinion makes me think you like male ass.

  8. justifiable

    #156 No, I don’t see the hypocrisy.

Open minded means you’re receptive to someone who’s making an argument – you let the other person have their say and listen to them. You don’t reject it just because it’s different. You think about their argument and see if, in your opinion, it has merit.

It doesn’t mean mutely tolerating intolerance . It doesn’t mean lying in order to be polite. It DOESN’T mean rolling over and playing dead so as not to offend anyone who’s religious and uses that religion as an excuse to deny others their rights. No one is saying she has no right to believe what she believes. Supporting her right to speak and agreeing with her speech are two very different things. Can you see the difference?

Most people in this country don’t have a problem condemning Osama and Al Quada fundamentalists for their religious beliefs when they use them to attack this country. Do you? So because Miss CA is a Christian, should she should get a pass for using the Bible as a reason to deny rights to people? EPIC FAIL TO THAT. Talk about hypocrisy – if some American mullah was on YouTube demanding a fatwa against Prejean for wearing a bikini and having her face uncovered, I have a feeling you’d be screaming for him to be yanked off the net.

Go ahead and say the Bible says this that or the other – that isn’t how we make laws in this country, but you certainly have every right to say it. But be prepared for a mighty rebuttal – not for your beliefs in and of themselves, but for how you employ them; to what end you use them to work against others.

  9. SleepyC

You can still have a heart for God beneath fake tits. That’s not the biggest hypocrasy in this story. The biggest hypocrasy is the Gay community and their supporters constantly whining about intolerance while demonizing anyone who disagrees with them. But then, the majority of the country agrees with Miss USA; if the butt-lovers don’t screech loud enough they might not scare anyone away from disagreeing with them.

  10. saw it, called it

#159 Are you one of the people who claims to have a heart for God? I really can’t tell here from your non-demonic use of “butt-lovers” but then I probably missed it under that layer of hypoCRISY.

  11. andy7171

Why is a gay guy judging a beauty pagent? Are deaf people allowed to critique musicians?

  12. Jim Jones

“I think regardless of our opinions, we just need to respect each other when we disagree. It’s all about respect.”

She says as she goes to campaign against gay marriage. Ah, the irony.

Yes, let’s have a strong opinion and fight against something that will never affect us, just so we can keep other people from being happy.

  13. Camey

“You can still have a heart for God beneath fake tits. That’s not the biggest hypocrasy in this story. The biggest hypocrasy is the Gay community and their supporters constantly whining about intolerance while demonizing anyone who disagrees with them. But then, the majority of the country agrees with Miss USA; if the butt-lovers don’t screech loud enough they might not scare anyone away from disagreeing with them.”

Why would any one defend some one who wants their rights taken away? Is it wrong for a black man (who wants racial equality), to demonize some one in the KKK? Or a woman who is working to express her disgust at some one who is trying to pass legislation to make sure she can’t work? No one should be tolerant of prejudice.

“Why is a gay guy judging a beauty pagent? Are deaf people allowed to critique musicians?”

That is stupid logic. Just because some one is gay does not mean they can’t have a valid view point on the beauty of the opposite gender. In some instances it means you can be objective, you aren’t blinded by attraction.

  14. Most of you stupid posters are going to burn in hell . . .

    . . . because you’re stupid mindless PC nigger-lovers.

I don’t give a damn about gay marriage. I do care whether or not you’re angry and upset though, and calling you nigger-lovers is sure to make the PC libtard sheepshit for brains set angry.

  15. justifiable

#164 You lose again, Ann Coulter. But thank you for so doing such a great job representing the kneejerk, intolerant, illogical reactionary point of view. Now run along, you don’t want to be late for that book burning!

  16. DeeDee

She knew people would react like this (she must have done), but if this is truly her opinion, then I respect her for it.

I’m not a Christian but I do believe that a TRUE marriage is between a man and a woman… anything else is not a marriage to me. But hey thats just my opinion.

Also I dont believe that gays should be allowed to adopt other peoples children- its just not a healthy environment for the child to be in, being raised in a home where “being gay” is seen as a “normality” and studys show that (as you would expect) the children have a higher likelihood of following in the footsteps of their “parents”. It may sound bizarre but it is very true.

I’m not against gay marriage but it seems much more of a “contract”, it doesnt seem real to me at all. Everyone is entitled to happiness, but when children are put in jeopardy because of it thats when you have to worry and draw a line.

As for this contestant, at least she was honest.

  17. Ridiculous

The biggest problem with the whole gay marriage debate is the propensity to get into a religious argument. Is this country not based on SEPARATION of church and state. All this vapid woman can say is her reasons are based on bibilcal reasons. Okay, so what do your bibilical reasons have to do with people wanting to be able to share health insurance benefits? A small part of marriage is religious. The contract of marriage is a legal binding contract. You can choose or not choose to have a religious ceremony. Any religion has the right to deny marrying homosexuals and the government could not do anything to them. Just as I could legally use peyote if I were a member of the Native American church but since I am not a member it would be an illegal act. The question is should the government deny two people the right to share in the same legal benefits because they are homosexual? Religion should not even enter the argument.
Now would Jesus Christ be upset at the gay marriage debate. I am going out on a limb here and saying probably not. I doubt he would really care that two homsexuals want to enter a legal union and share health care and other benefits. He would probably be more disgusted at the greedy bastards who run the health insurance companies that play god everyday. He would also probably worry about extremist muslim terrorist groups willing to kill billions of people for their pointless jihad. Homosexuality is not a new issue so I doubt this argument will phase him. Perhaps the best comment on this board was the one requesting us to ignore this pathetic publicity hound and focus on the girl who actually won the competition. That is if you really care about competitions based on nothing more than a socially constructed ideology of beauty and owned by the biggest douchebag in the country Donald Trump.

  18. live and let live

    166. DeeDee While I believe you have every right to your own opinion, I think it is very sad that you don’t think gay couples should be allowed to adopt. To me that sounds like you think Male/Female union adoptions are perfect and never end in tragedy. Everyone is different and everyone has the capacity to be good or evil – I can’t believe you lump an entire group of people as being “bad”. Look at all the horrible things you hear in the news about children being hurt…it’s usually by hetero parents and other family members. I wonder why you automatically assume gays are bad for adoption. I’m a straight female and I will never understand people’s obsessions with what others do in their own bedrooms – do you care that much what heteros do in the bedroom too? I say, if I’m not ever going to sleep with them (insert whomever) why should it bother me?

Organized Religion does nothing but plant the seed of hate. I’m all for faith and believing in a higher power, but when it gets twisted into judging others and feeling “holier than thou” I can’t understand the hate.

  19. tons of sarcasm

#166 No, DeeDee, it’s not “true” about adopted kids “learning” to be gay in a gay “unhealthy” environment, and there’s NO studies out there that back you up. It IS bizarre, you bet, because it’s NOT true.
Use your head – if that were the case “as you’d expect”, kids would “learn” to be heterosexual from their straight parents and there’d be no gay people out there. It doesn’t work that way because sexual orientation isn’t “learned behavior” so you don’t follow in anyone’s “footsteps”. Gay isn’t picked up by watching your parents.
Kids that grow up in foster care who aren’t adopted at an early age don’t have the best life. You’d deny them a shot at a loving home because of shit you either just made up, or that someone told you and you swallowed whole because it sounded like it made sense. What about single parent fanilies? What have you got to say about them?
What will be harder for kids in gay parent families will be dealing with the sort of crapola you just came out with here as “facts”.

I got ya studies right here:
Bailey, J. M., Bobrow, D., Wolfe, M., & Mikach, S. (1995). Sexual orientation of adult sons of gay fathers. Developmental Psychology, 31, 124-129.

The sexual development of children of gay and lesbian parents is interesting for both scientific and social reasons. The present study is the largest to date to focus on the sexual orientation of adult sons of gay men. From advertisements in gay publications, 55 gay or bisexual men were recruited [to the study] who reported on 82 sons at least 17 years of age. More than 90% of sons whose sexual orientations could be rated were heterosexual. Furthermore, gay and heterosexual sons did not differ on potentially relevant variables such as the length of time they had lived with their fathers. Results suggest that any environmental influence of gay fathers on their sons’ sexual orientation is not large.

Golombok, S., & Tasker, F. (1996). Do parents influence the sexual orientation of their children? Findings from a longitudinal study of lesbian families. Developmental Psychology, 32, 3-11.

Findings are presented of a longitudinal study of the sexual orientation of adults who had been raised as children in lesbian families. Twenty-five children of lesbian mothers and a control group of 21 children of heterosexual single mothers were first seen at age 9.5 years on average, and again at age 23.5 years on average. Standardized interviews were used to obtain data on sexual orientation from the young adults in the follow-up study and on family characteristics and children’s gender role behavior from the mothers and their children in the initial study. Although those from lesbian families were more likely to explore same-sex relationships, particularly if their childhood family environment was characterized by an openness and acceptance of lesbian and gay relationships, the large majority of children who grew up in lesbian families identified as heterosexual.

  20. justifiable

#167 You’d actually have to sit down and explain homosexuality and sexual orientation to Jesus. In his time, there was no such concept. Everyone then assumed all men were heterosexual, but got up to debauched sexual behavior at times and were capable of trying out many different things and acts – boys, men, prostitutes, whatever. Then afterwards they’d just naturally return to sleeping with women. Anyone who indulged in illicit acts before marriage or strayed after it was a de facto “fornicator”. This also explains why “homosexual” as a word doesn’t appear in any Biblical translation until well after 1800. Nowadays we know a lot more about human sexual behavior and that sexual orientation isn’t a matter of choice. What you think about common or garden variety fornication is between you and your church.

About gay marriage, I think he’d take a look at how our legal system is structured and say, “render unto Caesar” – because he’d see that his input would rightly make not one whit of difference in a civil arena.

Would you share your peyote (if you had some) with Jesus, is what I want to know!

  21. Georgie

lol. you must be a cocksucking gay yourself. of course gay marriage is funny and ridiculous!

  22. Gandi

None of this will matter anyway when the Middle East religious revolution hits our shores. Christians and homos will be first in line to convert or face la musica. Chow bitches!

  23. justifiable

#171 Sorry to disappoint you, but no. But since you’re so threatened by this issue, Georgie Boy, that must mean YOU’RE a latent homo! Hey, it’s your logic, not mine. Just remember to close your eyes and go down occasionally on whatever poor girl you’re forcing yourself to nail and no one will ever know, stud.

  24. catie

i was with you until the last paragraph. the pagent, which votes partly on the best body, and some sense of cleanliness (no playboy, no prior marriages) allows fake bodies to compete? that’s hypocracy, and you let it slide and just pick on her.

  25. amisaki

#174 I think it’s menat to be ironic and sarcastic on her hypocrisy, not the pageants. She’s someone with fake boobs who’s defending traditonal marraige on the grounds that it’s natural and Biblical, while the Bible wouldn’t approve of implants or bikinis. It’s bitchy but it doesn’t have anything to do with anything becuz we’re all hypocrites at times. I don’t think implants have anything to do with being Christian and I think Perez is a bitch. What I object to was that “no offense” thing and how she’s so surprised that everyone’s so upset. Bull. Shit. She comes right out and says it’s a huge issue, so that “oh my look what I’ve done” fake-o surprise doesn’t cut it with me. If you have a point of view that you know will hurt or offend people either STFU or stick up for it, but don’t go “no offense” becuz that’s fake and you know it. too I don’t think she lost becuz of that ? and she’s not losing gracefully either so I think she deserves to be picked on for that. Since when does one judges vote (Perez) on one answer mean you lose a pageant? Shes a bad loser and he winner has class becuz she’s not calling her on this or trying to get her off teh stage either. My opinion for what its worth.

  26. Miaoudeminou

Why do we care so much over what this stupid [barbie] says? She’s in a BEAUTY pageant for a reason. This isn’t Obama saying this nor is it anyone else who’s in politics or the likes that actually matters and has a say in our laws a.k.a whether or not they pass.

Get over it, let her dumbass continue “existing” in our world and getting by on just her looks.

  27. Carrie Prejean is PORNY looking.

Nice she spoke her mind, but I think it’s silly that a bikini bimbo is taking things this far. It’s like Sarah Palin or something.

@121 – Why does Perez Hilton exist? He even named himself after a worthless nothing.

@167 – Yeah. Reject on personal religous level. As a U.S. citizen, accept Liberty or join the God Damned Taliban.
Donald Trump RULZ though. RULZ ALL.

  28. PostmortemG

This lady is hot, even with the fake mams. =D I’ll take her and Heidi Montag both at once, thank you very much.

GOOD FOR HER! LEAVE HER ALONE!

  31. hogwash

the bible continues to be the easiest way to suppress, persecute, condemn, and kill human beings. last time someone else tried to impose his idea of a God’s will, that perfect, clean world, it was called the holocaust. so you’re “pro-life” but not “pro-living”… sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

  32. Matt

I don’t get worked up over gay marraige. There is a basic and insurmountable support growing for it.

Against gay marriage = the old

For gay marriage = the young

Give it 20 years. We’ll see it nationwide. The Math is There. Sure, there will be batlles along the way. But it’s coming.

  33. Courtney

Funny thing is, this bitch’s Christian college that she currently attends almost lost their accreditation a couple years ago…. hmmmm…. so she MUST have been receiving such a good education

What if it were my fucked up opinion that I don’t “agree” with men fucking women up the ass? Or maybe I think blow jobs are not what God intended for the penis. Maybe I think men who prefer fucking female ass to pussy or who really love getting a blow job are denying God’s plan and are not morally fit to be married. With what 2 consenting adults do in a bedroom that harms no one, what is there really to “agree” or “disagree” with? Should ANYBODY really have to be subjected to this kind of thinking? Please shut the fuck up.

  35. Jeff

    #27 mikeock
Nobody’s pushing for gay marriage in the church. Read up on the issue before issuing your inflammatory statements. Read #167. I’m surprised you didn’t ask us if we thought it was already for a guy to marry his fucking cat. But you were thinking about it, weren’t you?

  36. very beautyful girl. thanks for video

  37. I love that this is the only picture I’ve ever seen that appears to be a candid taken behind the scenes perhaps even without their knowledge…and they could not seem less interested in one another. LOL. So perfect.

  38. Whoever before marriage or engage in illegal acts after wandering a real “fornicator. It also until well after 1800′s” gay “why” as a term does not appear in any Bible translation calls. Nowadays we know much more about human sexual behavior and that sexual orientation is not a matter of choice.

  39. Thanks for your good topic. Good done.
