Mike Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter on life support

May 26th, 2009 // 63 Comments

Mike Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter Exodus is on life support after accidentally hanging herself from the power cable of a treadmill at the boxer’s home Monday morning, according to MyFoxPhoenix:

CPR was administered and 4-year-old Exodus Tyson was taken to St. Joe’s Hospital. She’s on life support and in extremely critical condition.
According to police, the victim’s 7-year-old brother discovered the child in distress, and alerted their mother. She found the girl with a cable around her neck, hanging from the treadmill, and immediately called 911.
“Somehow the little girl got something caught across her throat, she became unresponsive, the boy went and got the mother, and the mother came out and found the child,” says Phoenix Police Sgt. Andy Hill.
Phoenix Police are investigating. So far, they believe the incident was accidental.

Mike Tyson was in Vegas during the incident but is now at his daughter’s side. Talk about some horribly random shit. Best wishes to the family and little Exodus.

How the hell do you hang yourself by the power cord? They’re 99.9% of the time on the bottom of the unit. I think they mean maybe the cord that stops the unit if you fall off, but again – those usually break free as well.

What, does he have his treadmill right next to an overhang or something?

It sounds like it may be that cord that you clip to yourself in case you fall and it turns the treadmill off. It hangs down like a mini blind cord.

    Damn, that sucks….

My prayers are with the family. I cant believe these comments. This is a four year old little girl who is fighting for her life. I don’t care who the parents are chances are she isn’t going to make it and I know what it feels like to be in their shoes because I lost my four year old son to a tragic accident. There is no worse pain than that of losing a child. Shame shame on all you mean commenters!! My heart and prayers are with the family right now. May God help you find peace and the will to move forward.

Yes #18, WAAAAYYY too soon. Look, I’m the first one to bag on “celebrities” and get my semi-racism on, but this is a 4 year old who is nothing but innocent. You should refrain from bagging on her.

And #11, try going back and reading the post: it clearly said that Tyson doesn’t have custody of her and she was with the mother at the time. For all that Mike is, I’m sure he’s a supportive father and loves his children. His personal escapades if you will have no bearing on what happened to her.

    I can’t believe I’m defending him.

Anyone who posted something derogatory or flat out cruel needs to look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Is it so important to me to be funny that I’m willing to do so at the expense of a tragic accident to an innocent child?” You either don’t have kids or should never have them, as you are incapable of any kind of sensitivity to the pain and fear a parent goes through 24/7 that their kids grow up healthy and free from harm. There is NO HUMOR to be had here. In fact, The Superficial really should have kept it off the site completely to avoid just such a response.

    The only response
    to a child’s grave is
to lie down before it and play dead.

    # 27, you are a fucking douche, talking about “bad genes.” Regardless of the bullshit that he did, and his personal life, he was still unbeatable for years, and remains one of the greatest boxers of all time. When he left boxing, it was the death knell of it. You call those bad genes? Better than some pole smoker who plays on a computer all day, hope mike finds you, then you can say it to his face. Fat or not, he would certainly kick your punk ass. I feel a lot of sympathy for the poor bastard, he has, at times, had a fucking miserable life, I’m sorry for his family.
