Michael Richards – Kramer from Seinfeld – completely lost it at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood Friday night, spewing racial epithets after being playfully heckled by a black guy and his friends. You can watch the video here, although it’s a pretty sad sight and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re easily offended.
The camera started rolling just as Richards began his attack, screaming at one of the men, “Fifty years ago we’d have you upside down with a fucking fork up your ass.” Richards continued, “You can talk, you can talk, you’re brave now motherfucker. Throw his ass out. He’s a nigger! He’s a nigger! He’s a nigger! A nigger, look, there’s a nigger!” The crowd is visibly and audibly confused and upset. Richards responds by saying, “They’re going to arrest me for calling a black man a nigger.”
At the end he just walks off the stage defeated, secure in the knowledge he may be the saddest human being on the planet. The only way it could’ve been any more pathetic is if he slipped on a banana peel on his way off and his wallet fell out to reveal it empty of cash and filled with Arby’s coupons.

A suggestion, and to #3′s point, perhaps the word should be retired from the language, at least in the vernacular. When you hear it used almost, dare I say, affectionately (which I do almost daily in the virtually cracker-free Atlanta area), it’s hard to see what all the fuss is about when it’s done by a comedian paid to offend.

Not that I’m surprised, really, but I’m not sure how heckling is a pass to yell out racist shit to someone. So the guys were rude, right? They were a couple of pricks who were heckling a comedian. Big fucking deal. How does that somehow connect to making a comment about lynching and saying “nigger” ten times? I don’t get how race or ethnicity had anything to do with them heckling him, seriously.

What’s up with those Seinfeld alumni (other than Jerry)? I thought they were each pulling in a million per during the last couple of seasons. They must have either pissed it away or really have a need to be in the spotlight. Every one of them failed in their own shows, and (other than Julia Louis-Dreyfus) they’re all still out there pitching and failing.
If I ever had a golden goose like they had I’d have milked it dry while socking away every shekle I ever got paid, and then retired to an island with no U.S. tax obligations. Maybe take a second or third lead in a movie every and then to pay the maintenance fees on my off-shore bank account.
As for Kramer, sounds like he was bombing, lost it, and tried to go the shock comedy route and, (unlike Gilbert Gottfried and The Aristocrats joke at the Hugh Hefner roast), he flopped. BFD – seeing Britney out and about is more offensive.
