Meg Ryan adopts a Chinese baby

January 20th, 2006 // 68 Comments

*meg_ryan_thumb1.jpgMeg Ryan, star of such movies as Crap and Crap 2: the Craptathlon, will adopt a Chinese baby later today, according to OK! magazine. The adoption is scheduled to take place at an American consulate in China. An insider tells the publication, “The consulate will formalize the adoption and grant Meg’s new daughter a visa and a social security number. They will probably be flying back to the US immediately after the process is complete.”

China is like the Wal-Mart of adoptions. You touch down at the airport in Beijing and they just start throwing babies and fortune cookies at you. But good for Meg. Now all she needs to do is name the baby Lo Pan and teach it to shoot fire from its eyes.

I just love the photo of Meg, could she try harder to cover the wrinkles around her eyes. It just makes her look like an old hag trying to hide the fact that she is getting older. It is so obvious that it makes her look even older then she currently is.
About the article, does anyone even care that she is adopting some kid.

Just so people don’t work themselves up into a frenzy over “adrock2xander” comments, the guy is Asian. Or he squints a lot. If you go to his blog site, there is a picture of a slightly overweight, possibly homosexual, Asian guy. It actually makes his comments kinda funny, in a weird Asian-bashing sort of way. Maybe Meg Ryan could adopt him, feed him some Slim-Fast, remove the bandana from his head, and then teach him where to find a vagina on a woman’s body.

Chinese baby girls are still killed by poor families sometimes (they can’t afford the extra mouth to feed, plus sons traditionally bring a wife into their family home, continuing to live with & care for their parents for the rest of their lives), so boys are highly prized. It’s a great thing Meg is doing, but yeah, there are plenty of American kids that need families as well.

Oh, that’s right, American babies in need trump other babies. Even if the other babies are starving, and dying by the hundreds, and American babies at least have the state to care for them.

Yes, there are probably dozens of American kids that need adopting, but adopting one from China is so much easier. Lucky kid, she’s going to be rich rich rich!

And I don’t think the Meg Ryan bashing is justified, she doens’t pretend to be in her early 20′s like other actresses her age, and considering, she has aged quite well.

Good for you Meg Ryan!! ^_^

To the poster who asked why Beautiful people adopt ugly babies I say this, you obviously haven’t seen Meg Ryan Latley, she has been introduced, quite dramatically to “The Wall” and secondly, go see memoirs of a Geisha, all the actresses in that movie are Chinese (Even though the movie takes place in Japan) and they are SMOKIN hotties!

Outsourcing adoption is how corporate America stays lean, competitive. Ill-equipped for adoption in the USA, the female celebrity genome screams, “Go East, young woman!” Asian babies are born with a blue spot on the lower back. X marked the spot for Meg. Q: Is Miss Ryan serving the greater good? A: Yes! The Great American Melting Pot is now available in convenient microwavable pouches. Enjoy the soup du jour!

It’s so obvious she’s pulling a Jolie, only instead of actually caring about the adopted child like Ange does, I think Meg is doing it solely for publicity. She went on record once saying she didn’t even want the first kid she had! And up til now, have you ever heard about Meg Ryan involved in any kind of political do-good-ing like Ange? Way to rev up your non-existent career, Meg – adopt a kid and let the nannies raise her.

  21. MonkeyWithTOES | January 20, 2006 at 12:36 pm

Speaking of nannies…..you don’t actually believe that Jolie is doing all the grunt work herself do you? Who do you think is looking after her two (ooops, sorry THEIR two) when you see her pictured alone all over the place? Yeah yeah, I have seen the “photo opportunities”, but you can be sure there’s a small army of nannies in the background. Get real.

Plenty of American kids need families. However, if you adopt an American kid, the toothless hillbilly parents can change their minds six years later and demand the kid back. Surely everyone remembers these cases? They’re always splashed all over the papers, the kid screaming, dragged away from her home, to be handed back to the ignorant yokels who gave her up to begin with and then changed their minds.

You don’t have to worry about that when you adopt a kid 3,000 miles away. My guess is that THAT’S why people adopt foreign children.

its such an incredibly arrogant and twisted view of the world. angelina is creating her very own benneton ad. creepy x 1000.

and if meg wants to help a kid in need, why doesnt she try the thousands of taller and less cute kids languishing in foster care in her own country. oh thats right, coz sexually abused/emotionally traumatised 12 yr olds….they just dont work as well with that gucci frock.

First, if any of ya’ll think certain kids deserve a home more than others, why don’t YOU adopt those kids? You can’t? Didn’t think so–so don’t question from where someone adopts or why. All kids deserve homes so if you can adopt a kid, any kid, good for you — it’s wonderful.

And despite Superficial’s crass comment about Wal-Mart, adoption is rarely easy, anywhere.

  43. convictchick | January 21, 2006 at 9:06 am

it seems to be rather easy for celebrities. other couples have to go through years of red tape and counselling etc, but celebs just seem to rock up in a poor nation and pick the cutest kid they can find. its easy to go baby shopping when you have unlimited funds to bribe officials with.

what about angelinas comments at that UN meeting after she adopted (re- bought) zahara?? ‘last night i was thinking, oh i could just adopt again! i want to do it right now!’ (or something to those effects). fact is, when u have money and power….you can buy anything. including human life.

they aren’t doing it for humanitarian reasons. they are doing it because the kid makes a faaaabulous new accessory.

Good for Meg! Chinese baby girls are left for dead in that country with the one child policy.

I doubt she’s doing it for publicity reasons and to “be cool” like Angelina Jolie. People who adopt babies from other countries don’t do it to save the world or be a hero. There’s a genuine need.

To all people saying that there are plenty of American kids who need to be adopted first, etc… Have you ever tried to adopt in America?? I used to work for an adoption agency, and adopting in America is more difficult then getting an organ transplant. You have to be on a list for years (with celebrities it may be less, but nevertheless)… and you cannot choose at all, you get what they give you.
They make it so difficult in America, maybe there is a good reason why most people are going overseas to adopt.

    Reply
  46. convictchick | January 21, 2006 at 12:39 pm

i think it is different for celebrites. they dont need to go through agencies. they would do private adoption. like nicole kidman and tom cruise – both their kids are from the same mother. so they basically did a deal after the daughter that they will get her next baby too. i just find private adoption to be rather disturbing…its literally buying children.

not to mention the fact its legal to sell your eggs to the highest bidder or rent your womb out for cash.* im all for reproductive freedom but that disturbs me a bit. capitalism at its worst. i hope it doesn’t go that way down here in australia.

*note – i may be wrong about those laws in the US, im just going as far as i know. please correct me if im wrong :)

“Good on you” Meg Ryan (Larry, I am British so if you will permit me to use that phrase?). Anyone …including celebs…. who can open their homes, hearts, and bank accounts to help a child of ANY colour or creed is OK in my book, even if they have to hire nannies to help them. They are working people after all.

    Point 1:

Aren’t those posters who say that American children should come first when it comes to being adopted by Americans asserting that somehow the foreign kids should “get to the back of the line”? That would be racism wouldn’t it? Which brings me to….

    Point 2:
Amazing to me that the word “cunt” was used in a previous post* and nobody said a word in protest…yet “Slanty eyes” caused a furore. Racism is def out. Misogyny is perfectly fine. (“Britany’s vagina worms” …..purile). Hatred against:
    a) Fat people ..correction – anyone who
in not “perfect” and we all know
how messed up “perfect” has become in
    this society.
    b) Homosexuals….or even those merely
    rumoured to be such.
    c) Women – especially if they have had
either the nerve to keep their natural
tits or live beyond their most physically
attractive years and still go out in
public (Sharon Stone – still a very
    beautiful woman).

All these forms of hatred abound on this site but racism is the only one that is not applauded and embraced. Fascinating. I find myself unable to look away for some reason.
