Mackenzie Phillips’ step-mother: ‘She’s lying’

September 24th, 2009 // 84 Comments

Michelle Phillips claims her step-daughter Mackenzie Phillips is lying about having a 10-year incestuous affair with her own father, according to Showbiz411:

“She told me, then she called me back and said, ‘You know I’m joking,’ ” Michelle told me. “I said it wasn’t funny. Mackenzie said, ‘I guess we have different senses of humor.’ “
It’s not like Michelle Phillips hasn’t been critical of John in the past. She told me: “John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But [expletive deleted] his daughter? If she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I think it’s unconscionable that Oprah would let her do her show. I have every reason to believe it’s untrue. Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show.”
Michelle added: “Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years. She was arrested for heroin and coke just recently. She did ‘Celebrity Rehab’ and now she writes a book. The whole thing is timed.” Michelle said it’s particularly ironic since her own daughter, Chynna, of Wilson Phillips fame, Mackenzie’s half sister, is releasing a new album this week.
“Mackenzie is jealous of her siblings, who have accomplished a lot and did not become drug addicts.”

If this is a scheme to sell books, it’s pretty much guaranteed to backfire. You don’t really see a lot of people at Barnes & Noble asking “Say, do you have any non-fiction books about a father raping his daughter for 10 years? I need a good bedtime story.” (Joe Simpson excluded.)

  1. I Believer Her

    Ann Frank (#40):

I’m so sorry about what happened to you. That is just about the worst thing imaginable. I’m lucky that I only knew people it happened to and didn’t have to experience it myself. Also, thanks for the compliment.

As for #s 43 and 44: That really crossed the line.

This is the fish, so what line, you say? Well, I’ve been here for years. I used to post a lot of comments under another name and trash talk the shit out of people and make fun of Lindsay Lohan’s and Paris Hilton’s vaginas and talk about how if there was a god then he’d hurl a meteor at Dustin Diamond.

I read the fights and sarcasm and racism and trash talking and laughed my ass off. The line I have is WAY off in the distance.

When someone comes on here and admits something so terrible and you make fun of it: that crosses even my line.

You should both be ashamed of yourselves.

    In short, fuck you.

  2. will

Um, “I believer her”, considering the fact that the bullshit people post about themselves on here is never true, fuck you.

  3. al

Anyone who lets their daddy diddle his dick around in them time after time and never makes an effort to stop it, MUST LIKE IT.

I represented my opinion based on the evidence at hand. It is my opinion, and nothing more.

You make statements as if they were facts. Tell me, what are your “facts” based on? Did you know John Phillips? Did Mackenzie personally tell you she made all this up? Do you have any proof at all to make such concrete accusations of the validity of her story?

When people of your obviously limited intelligence call me an idiot, it makes me feel rather smart.

  5. 2112

50 seems alot more right than you are. You seem like one of those types that make excuses for all kinds of sickos and criminals. This bitch is a piece of shit drug user, and needs to die.

  6. I Believer Her

    Will (52):

You make assertions as if they were fact, whereas in this case I prefer to deal in probabilities. Being that this is an anonymous board there is a certain probability that Ann Frank made it up – I’ll admit that. However, in reading her message my gut told me she was telling the truth. Even if there is a small chance that she is being truthful then the comments from 43 and 44 were pretty nasty and way out of line.

As for 2112, how dare you sully Rush’s good name with your handle. I guess the peanut gallery has spoken.

  7. 2112

Oh and 50, you make it sound like multiple people have called you an idiot. That’s believable.

  8. McBiff

I didn’t know you could get cellulite on your face

  9. I Believer Her

    #57:

Yes, I too believe that #50 is often called an idiot.

  10. 2112

I’ll bet the real Ann Frank got nailed by her pops a time or two. And no, 50 isn’t an idiot. You are. And I’m sleepy. So bite me.

  11. I Believer Her

    # 60:

According to the comments surrounding this story, it’s only white-assed honkey motherfuckers who engage in incest. Not Jews.

Besides, the real Anne Frank spelled her first name with an “e.”

  12. Yoda

I’m with Michelle Phillips on this one, I don’t buy one word of this filthy drug whore’s story.

Rape is a horrific event for any girl or woman. I can’t believe that it was so awful and traumatic that she kept going back for more of daddy’s cock for ten years. She obviously loved it. It’d be a totally different matter if this happened when she was a little girl, but not when she was an adult.

Let’s hope the bitch shares needles.

  13. Louise

#16: While not personally a fan of the long and boring Port Huron
Manifesto, there is no mention of deviant sex. It is a rehash of the
capitalism, worker’s rights, “make the world a better place” argument.
Do people say these things expecting that uninformed readers are too lazy
    to look up old documents?

  14. And who MADE Mackenzie Phillips “a filthy drug whore”?
And why didn’t Michelle Phillips stop John Phillips from drugging his child?

I maintain that if this were ONLY about the drugs Mackenzie’s father put into her body from the time she was a little child, this story would be horrific enough. And NOBODY denies this.

John Phillips poisoned his child. And played with his child. And experimented on his child. Over and over. And he didn’t so it once; he did it hundreds and hundreds of times – perhaps thousands of times – over many, many years. And nobody (including his wives) ever stopped him. Nobody protected her.

If he would put heroin in his child, what was to stop him from putting his penis in her? One might argue that that might have been less damaging.

In America the moment sex comes into the picture, so many of you become rabid, judgmental puritans… blaming the victim for the perpetrator’s behaviour.

Where is your disgust and horror at a parent who drugs a child?

Nobody protected her when she was little – and now that she is an adult and the almost inevitable result of a childhood of neglect and abuse, she is attacked by a pack of vicious, sanctimonious dogs.

    Shame on you.

  15. jolie

If a person doesn’t have limits for himself, how can he teach them to his child? At what point does he draw a line, between pleasure and infliction?

I believe her. I believe no one was there to step up for her rights to her own mind and body, they were taken and abused,

Everyone, every being has the right to their own mind and body and a child until they are of an appropriate ripe age are to be protected, and sheltered, so that they are not victim by way of their innocence to others who would take advantage of them.

He took advantage of her love, her trust, and her innocence in the worst most devastating way a human can. That is perversely selfish.

People only doubt her because he is famous…if she was a local say, unknown accountant in your town talking about this, coming clean with her story on Oprah, big deal, people wouldn’t pass the same critical judgement on her. But because he is famous I think we have something to lose, in our belief systems. Famous people do fucked up things, so do people down the street from you, people you think you may know to be upstanding citizens.

You can hide your whole like behind what you think you know, or come into the light, and come to terms with things. You can start to heal and begin to come to terms with truth, its not going away anytime soon.

Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show? You are referring to the biggest snake oil salesman in the 21st century.

  18. Jessica

@36 – Obviously you never met a drug addict before.

@37 Drugs isn’t strictly a ‘liberal’ thing sweetheart. Republicans love their coke/pain killers too.

  19. puhleez

If I were her dad I’d get a lawyer experienced with the “she seduced me” defense. Either that or one who can convince the jury that she cast a spell on his nuts and made them shoot all over her back.

  20. Shadowd

I am willing to believe her, as I read somewhere that she told both her Mother, and her Sister about it when it happened. That she called them back and said it was a joke, only increase my belief as women in that situation, when they confide in people and the people they confide in turns around and say you are lying etc, they tend to take it back and just “live” with the shame.

  21. Max Banger

oh snap mr superficial man. thought you were slipping a lil’ bit this morning. celebrity news, scantily clad spice girls, that creature brittany spears, blah blah boring, and then one line changes it all:(joe simpson excluded). now i remember why i fell for you in the first place, and its not your looks. Hint: its the dry wit.

  22. Freebie

    #69 – Her father’s dead. He died in 2001.
I don’t think most women would make a story like this up – especially with her background. My father molested me too from the time I was a toddler until I turned 18 and I was finally emotionally and physically able to slam my bedroom door in his face and lock him out. He never touched me that way again. But, I still loved him like a father and never told anyone about what happened. He’s been gone for 20 years but I still have emotional periods about what transpired between us but I still have that daughter’s love for her father.

  23. Mackenzie and I Are Survivors

My mom left me with my abusive dad because she wanted to live the party life with her young friend. My dad stopped molesting me when I reached puberty. One time he was in one of his abusive moods and I confronted him about molesting me. He just glared at me and did not say a word. He called my mom and said that I was trying to get him in trouble and put him in jail. This was the farthest from my mind. I just wanted to know why? My mom told me that my dad did not molest me but he touched me out of love. I felt like my world had just crashed and no where to go. Feeling defeated I never mentioned it again until I had my twin girls. My dad would want to watch my twin girls and I would make excuses why he could not because the victim always protects their abuser. My cousin asked if my dad ever molested me because she knew he was abusive. I finally admitted the truth. Everyone knows and now my dad does not go to any family events because he is probably ashamed that the dirty secret is out. I feel free and I am no longer a victim. I am a survivor just like Mackenzie. I hope this brings her to a complete recovery of drug abuse. Mackenzie is my hero too.

  24. ARTOFWAR

I could have sympathized with Mackenzie if these allegations had taken place when she was nine or ten years of age.
But she claims that these unfortunate encounters began at the age of nineteen???

In my younger years I use to get as high as Mount Everest.
But it never once crossed my mind to engage in sexual intercourse with my mother or vice verse I’m sure.

If Mackenzie Phillips did indeed have sex with her father at that age, and for the duration of ten years.
Then she knew very well what she was doing and enjoyed it. and the attention that it garnered her.
Exactly in the way that these talk shows are giving her know, much needed attention….

If these allegations are true, I am in no way exonerating her father’s actions.
But there’s absolutely no way, and no amount of drugs that could skew the judgment of a 19 year old. To consent to having sex with ones own parent.
And I say consent because she was a legal adult when this allegedly began.

Although it is morally reprehensible, contrary to popular belief it is not against the law to have sex with your adult daughter.
She has the right of consent.

It seems to me that the women of this country will often scream. (“I am woman, strong just listen to my roar”,) when they accomplish something of importance
Yet those very same women will always defer blame to a man, for their womanly failures and misdeeds or shortcomings.

Women must learn that they cannot have it both ways, and still expect to be taken seriously as a whole.
For either you are strong, or you are weak.

Men have no bearing on a woman’s weakness or strengths.
The choice of responsibility or not, lies solely in the hands of the adult woman, for her own actions right and wrong…. ARTOFWAR

It sounds like you have been hurt by women and lost work opportunities from women. Mackenzie’s father abused her the day he did drugs in front of her and then it escalated by him giving her drugs. She was a teenager when her father had sex with her during black outs. You are a bitter heartless person and I hope you learn to have empathy for people that deserve it.

  26. ^dumbasses

What a bunch of fucking rubbish. Some drug addled attention whore says her father raped her HAS A MOTIVE for doing so, yet NO EVIDENCE and people believe her. No evidence, no nothing. Fucking retards.

  27. puhleez

@73 I’m really sorry to hear that. I do believe this woman and I don’t mean to imply otherwise.

My father never spent any quality time with me. The only time he wanted to spend time with me was when he was molesting me. I kept up the charade of a happy loving father until my daughter was born and when she became 3 years old all my flash backs came back of my father and I could no longer be around him. My family thought I was being weird but when the truth came out they were behind me 100 percent. I hope Macs story helps a lot of people; even men who have had the same experience because I know they are out there as well as women.

Her motive is to help others. You sound like a bitter lonely person with no friends.

  30. jUDY

She was not a child, she was 19 and getting married the next day, the first tiome she had sex with her dad. On drugs or not she is making this crap up. Show us the DNA ..pictures, letters emails where your father talks about this? Why just her and not the rest of his daughters? MIchelle wouldnt not jave seen nit as she divorced John and he was remarried and his 3 rd wife never saw any of this either. Step mother or not I am sure these women all turned the other way while he was shooting up and screwing his kids? Mac has always been a drama queen, looking for attention and always has some drama going on in her drug fueled life. I know what a drug addict can and will do to a family with lies..I am not buying this story.

  31. Nancy

I think her step mother should be horse whipped. I think she upset that her other daughters really don’t have a career. It certainly explains alot. She also has told people for years .She is a victim and Michelle should be punished for not helping her.And John listen to his songs alot of hints there. I hope he burns.

  32. cried a woman is not something very nice …

  33. I believe her- but I don’t believe it was all drugs and booze. She was old enough to know better.
