Leroi Moore the iconic saxophone player for the Dave Matthews Band passed away yesterday from complications from a June ATV accident on his farm, according to the AP:
Moore died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was admitted with complications that arose weeks after the June 30 wreck, according to a statement on the band’s Web site. It did not specify what led to his death, and nursing supervisor Galina Shinder said the hospital could not release details.
Dave Matthews Band played last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Dave, who always credited Leroi arranging the band’s songs, dedicated the show to his late friend. “It’s always easier to leave than be left,” Matthews told the crowd.

Yes, LeRoi was most certainly iconic. Apart from the Marsalis brothers or Kenny G, how many mainstream saxophone players can you name? Or better yet, how many sax players can you name who are in a band which consistently sells out shows and releases top-selling records? Not to mention that LeRoi co/wrote and/or arranged most of their songs. If that isn’t iconic, I don’t know what is.
I have seen 10 DMB shows, and they will clearly never be the same. Rest in Peace, LeRoi. You will be missed dearly.

DMB is by far the best band around, there music is insperational and meaningful, maybe if you cowards would listen to it, you would get something out of it, cause the lyrics are wonderful and all have a story behind them. But seems everyone with the negativity in this chat has blinders on but then again maybe there just geeks trying to be cool on the computer cause thats the only way they think they can be!!

Remember people this is a celebrity news website… sorry but you will not hear one thing about the other great people in America that pass on because this is a celebrity oriented site. A good share of those in the entertainment industry are familiar with bands. However, the mass public may not be.
For those who have been part of a solid team in their life they know or might have some kind of understanding of the sadness this would bring to fans. DMB is a solid group. I am glad they continued on with the tour. RIP LeRoi.
