Kim Kardashian Isn’t Empowering Shit

Exhibit A.

Because Kim Kardashian (and my pageviews) haven’t gotten enough mileage out of her nude Instagram photo, whoever works for her blog wrote an essay about body-shaming that the Internet couldn’t trip over itself fast enough to label as “powerful” and full of “truth bombs” even though it falls apart at the slightest inspection. Case in point:

I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.

You posted a heavily edited photo from a year ago specifically because you’re ashamed of showing the world your flaws. And how do I know that? You fucking said it on Twitter.

How the hell is that empowering? What message are you sending to “girls and women” besides meticulously curate your public image because how you really look isn’t good enough? That’s what people are “shaming” you for. Not that you’re naked, but that you’re naked in the most bullshit way possible. Fuck, even Courtney Stodden’s naked pic is more authentic, and she’s 90% space-age polymer. But at least it’s from this year.

Working on a new single! It's coming out soon… Oh & I can't find anything to wear either, Kim! #girlproblems #kimkardashian
