Kiefer Sutherland to serve jail-time for DUI

Kiefer Sutherland will serve 48 days in jail because of his DUI arrest a few weeks ago. He must immediately serve the first 18 days, which are for his probation violation, after he is sentenced. He has until July to serve the remaining 30 days. Kiefer pleaded “no contest” to the charges in part of a deal with prosecutors. E! Online reports:

In exchange for copping to a count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent, prosecutors agreed to drop a second misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office spokesman Frank Mateljan told E! Online. Sutherland, 40, won’t be formally sentenced until Dec. 21.

Many wonder how this will affect his work on 24, but FOX is standing behind their lead man and issued the following statement:

Today our friend Kiefer Sutherland resolved his criminal case at the earliest opportunity. Kiefer made clear to us at the time of his arrest that his first concern was the welfare of those he worked with and that he intended to do whatever was necessary to prevent shutting down the show because of his situation. He told us that even if he had to sacrifice more time in custody in order to protect the show and the jobs of those who work with him, he would do so. From what occurred today, it is evident he is a man of his word. We wish him well and look forward to a long relationship with him.

It’s too bad Kiefer Sutherland isn’t the star of that other FOX show Prison Break. Ha! See what I did there? Because he’s going to prison. And then he could break out. And both shows are on FOX. Get it? Yeah? No? I hate you! *runs away sobbing and slams the door*

Say what you want about the man, he’s going to walk his sexy self into the cop shop on Dec. 21 and do his time like a man. Unlike a certain diseased socialite we all know, he knows he screwed up and he’s willing to pay the price without whining about it. Good lord, he just keeps getting hotter.

I’m not crazy about getting his second DUI dropped – I’d rather see him get a conviction with sentence set aside for his sentencing deal on the violation of probation. Getting his second DUI dropped is like it never happened – and that’s not accurate NOR is it being a man and taking his lumps. It’s like saying you can have two DUIs and only pay for one.

I don’t believe any of this is real. Why do you think it’s all happening while they film the upcoming season of 24? Why do you think he’s not fighting any of it? Some people are in on it, some aren’t. When he goes to jail, there will be hidden cameras. A few of the staff will be in on it, most will not. There will be fights and eventually he’ll break out (with help). What they film will turn out to be hours 22 and 23.

Wtf are you talking about, Geoff? There were Arab Muslim terrorists in seasons two and four. The writers avoided naming Fayed’s country in season six, but it was pretty obvious he was of middle eastern descent. Apparently you have no use for spell check, proper capitalization, or the facts.

Paris Hilton really is the Jesus Christ of Celebrities. She did the time so all the other celebrities can get off with a slap on the wrist. 43 Days for a supspended license, and now nobody gives a shit that Keiffer Sutherland just got busted for his FOURTH DUI. How much does anybody want to bet that when he gets out by the end of the week because of “overcrowding” the media responds with a collective yawn?

Ever notice how Jack has his own patriot act that lets him torture, kill, and no one has any thing bad to say about but liberals are all up in arms if our actual agents act like that. Lame. Liberal. Spineless.

Fourtunately, we couldnt have written a better script than this gem..Thanks Keifer! But, if we had to, you might have to wait up to 6 months…and you may have to revise it 10 or 12 times to get what you paid for. But hey, we went to Harvard…Thats why we run unapposed for the most part, not to mention the fact that nobody else on the planet can write nearly as ineffectually as we can, and get paid more. So kudos creative people..way to take a back seat during another potentially stifiling time for artists and directors, who are made to produce the bile we write and have nearly no hope of a residual..its the spineless that makes this all possible.
