Katy Perry’s in Rolling Stone Again

June 22nd, 2011 // 112 Comments

And now for something completely non-depressing: Those.

Katy Perry appears in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, and it looks like she actually took my advice to heart from last year’s spread which is entirely how I’m going to read this and justify honking her breasts if I ever see her in public. I’ve awakened you!

“It just feels like the thing running our country is a bank, money,” she says. “I know it sounds like an intense viewpoint, but I’m only slowly but surely getting the wool taken off my eyes. When I was a kid, I asked questions about my faith. Now I’m asking questions about the world.”
She continues: “I think we are largely in desperate need of revolutionary change in the way our mindset is. Our priority is fame, and people’s wellness is way low. I saw this knowing full well that I’m a part of the problem. I’m playing the game, though I am trying to reroute. Anyway, not to get all politically divulging and introspective, but the fact that America doesn’t have free health care drives me fucking absolutely crazy, and is so wrong.

And just in case her parents’ head didn’t explode with the free health care talk, Katy’s also obsessed with the History Channel show Ancient Aliens, too:

“Oh my God,” she says. “When it talks about the sky people, how everyone comes from the sky and how the Pyramids were used for star observations, it’s too much for me. It all seems to connect the dots. It’s blowing my mind.”

So for those of you keeping score at home, Katy Perry has gone from evangelical Christian to socialist/UFO conspiracy theorist. Now, I’m not suggesting Russell Brand is the devil and seduced her away from the church, but we can’t know for certain unless we burn him at the stake. Also, he’s been known to play a pan flute in the woods while compelling men to fornicate with women who aren’t their wives. Probably should’ve mentioned that.

    Would bang this whore hard.

“Free” health care..that is what everyone wants. Nothing is “free”. You don’t shop in any store where some of the stuff is free. We pay for ourselves or we pay for others through high taxes. If you have health insurance and get 10 visits to the chiropracter included, those visits are not “free”. If I hear another person say “Well I get 10 free trips to the chiropracter..might as well use them.” I’ll fing explode. Things are going to have to get much worse before people wake up and figure out the reality of the world.

    • George

Stop paying for the war and fund that money towards universal health care.

      • @George A-FUCKING-MEN. The Afghan war alone costs us two billion PER DAY. ALL BORROWED FROM CHINA,,,, What.. the.. fuck..

      • George

What seems obvious to you and I is apparently lost in the rest of the population. It always baffles me as to why people are willing to pay high taxes for a war which kills people, but not for universal health care which saves/drastically improves the quality of life for all YOUR own citizens.

      • Venom

        They are idiots George.
They have no problem paying for million dollar missiles and billion dollar jets, while they get no health care and they keep cutting money from the schools.
Most retarded bunch of people ever.

Meanwhile the politicians collect six figure salaries and give themselves raises every year and when they are finished they collect lifetime healthcare, benefits and pensions on the public’s dime.

      • Strawman

I would rather not have EITHER stupid wars or socialized medicine. It’s not an either/or choice, numbskulls.

      • rican

If you want free health care move to Canada.

    • alex

I agree with everything you wrote.

I hate working my ass off for a decent salary (yes I’m one of the lucky ones) and then having to pay nearly half to taxes. When I was younger I used to say, “I dont care about taxes because I’m lucky enough to have a job and that money pays for police, firemen, clean water and so on.” But the reality is what you wrote. Two billion a day to fight unnecessary wars. My annual taxes cover the cost of about 1/4 of a small bomb which we drop like its a piece of gum.

Now I get to revel in the joyful knowledge that my grandchildren (if I ever have any) will be paying for irresponsible people who bought bigger houses than they could afford and bonuses for wallstreet reps that cheated the system to earn huge revenues. Not to mention the stimulus package which hasnt saved the economy but still ballooned our debt. Meanwhile, every other country on the planet is jacking us on inequitable trade tariffs and we’re sitting with a standard 2% tariff on our exports. Its insane and more importantly, unsustainable. We stay on this course and we are seriously screwed. Forget the lack of customer service or lack of drive among our youth (I just read an article where the kids of today were blaming the older generations for “raising them” badly and thats why they suck so much), if we continue in this direction, if the trends dont change, we’ll be mired in an economic hell that we may never (never!) recover from. Just look at some of the more mature economies of the world–its their hubris that cost them. And its costing us now.

    • MatthewD

Why choose between funding two bad ideas? Why not cut them both?

The war is bad for a lot of obvious reasons, but healthcare spending is bad for more subtle reasons. As Carl noted, “free” is a misnomer: somebody has to pay for every test and doctor visit, just not the person who is consuming it at the time. That destroys any incentive to keep costs down as a provider or consumer of medical care and is, in fact, one of the main factors driving health care costs higher.

Case in point, there are two fields in medicine in which procedure costs and coming down while quality of service and outcome are improving. They are? Lasik and cosmetic surgery! Why? Free market for both. No government or insurance involvement for either.

I’m all for creating some sort of health care safety net, but our whole system better have some sort of price system and out-of-pocket consumer cost, or we are going to go bankrupt on a bullet train.

      • just sayin'

Nah, this world is and always has been run by the elites. The purpose of all these wars is to bankrupt this nation while stealing the resources of the planet. It’s really that simple.
The banks, industries, etc., are all part of the cabal.
No need to be confused. Now run along little cattle to work (if you have it) and hit the debt treadmill.

      • Fletch

Elected officials should not be treated any differently. They should not collect their salary for the rest of their lives. They should not have a separate retirement plan. They should be in Social Security like the rest of us. I could go on and on but until they are treated like the rest of us they will continue to do this.

If the Healthcare plan that they rammed down our throats is so good why aren’t the politicians signing up?

And lastly, all politicians are the same. The Democrats are idiots because they try to make us think they are like us when they are not. The Republicans are just idiots. They are all rich, they use the same retirement plan and etc.

If the US was a third world county (its getting close), we would have been in a Civil War a long time ago.

      • George

        @ Strawman

“I would rather not have EITHER stupid wars or socialized medicine. It’s not an either/or choice, numbskulls.”

That is beyond the point I was making numbskull. The fact is, you ARE paying for the war, and I was simply pointing out the money could be put to much better use on its own citizens. But good job at missing the point all together numbskull.

    • sunnyroberto

I want free music. Why should I have to pay for music?? Hey, Katy, what if I download all your music for nothing and put it onto my MP3 player???

      • You’d have a waste of an MP3 player.

      • sunny, i doubt she’d care. she gets money from doing shit like this, proactive commericials, concerts, merch, and then a bit from her actual music being sold. obviously it’d be a loss if no one paid for it but…i think you’re free to do that…if you really want to….o.0

  4. the alien angle is probably all fantasy, but 35,000 years ago man was most definitely in a golden age, the likes of which we can’t even comprehend today. watch the pyramid code series from natgeo, on netflix. really enlightened stuff. most of today’s historians are arrogant assholes who completely miss the timeline *and* purpose of ancient stone structures.

anyone with a brain check cpakonline’s website.

    • XYZ

The alien angle is no fantasy, dude. Dont u expect they’d tell u the truth, do u? Keep watching NatGeo&Discovery, maybe who knows, they will risk everything and share the truth with the sheeple like u.

  5. Burt Reynolds

She is living the American dream as has made it big and very rich and famous now. That being said, it’s pretty easy to talk about how bad it is that money runs things when you have as much money as she does.

Katy, you’re famous for your tits and catchy pop tunes. No one cares about your faith, favorite TV programs, or thoughts on health care.

    • if she could use her celebrity to turn others on to something worthwhile then i’m all for it. healthcare is as necessary to a society as its military. and a fuckload cheaper. so why not socialize it like the military. oh we can destructive socialism but not constructive socialism?

      • Burt Reynolds

We can debate all day whether socialized medicine is a good thing. Personally, I think it’s going to be terrible which is why Canada is moving away from that system now (because it doesn’t work). It’s wonderful to have the career politicians and celebrities pushing this rhetoric on us considering socialized medicine will not affect them at all.

    • It had to be said

How wrong you are. How very wrong. I’d listen to her talk about all that crap if I thought I’d get to bang her at the end . . .

      • oh and if no one cared, one: you wouldn’t be bothering to comment on this long of a thread to say so and b: she wouldn’t be asked by anyone and her words wouldn’t be published and secondly: stop taking this shit so seriously everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, even an overpaid, undertalented celebrity!!

    • Venom

      Typical uneducated American comment.
There are plenty of countries that have universal health care and they are full of people that live in mansions, drive super expensive cars and have all the rest of the nice things in the world.

      • j

I’m not sure what is more ironic….the fact that his criticism is being laid upon an individual who truly is “uneducated” and a product of manipulation or that your comment is pointing out that the countries with universal healthcare also possess a massive class divide in which the ultra wealthy (generational wealth) are unaffected of a social system that has been created to exclude them. Marx called them “bourgeois socialists”. Furthermore, that socialsim is for the people, not the socialist. In the United States of America, we can have “uneducated” comments, we can say what we choose….and didnt the UN integrate that into their “Human Rights” agenda?

  20. JC

“I am playing the game, but I am trying to reroute.”

Oh, Katy. You know that “reroute” would involve charity work or the Peace Corps or some other dirty work with dirty people, not getting paid way too much for showing off your tits and writing shitty songs for 12-year-old girls to buy, right? You may be all that is right with boobs, but you’re one of the things that’s wrong with America.

    • jack

Watching her get away with falsly being presented as a positive, spiritual influence to 12-13 year old kids is like watching Casey Anthony getting away with murdering her child, if she was found innocent. As Katy herself would say “It drives me fucking absolutely crazy, and is so wrong”

I should be amazed that you are are arguing over government controlled healthcare and war. If the government is so bad, what makes any of you think that they can manage a single payer or even a third party payer system for 309 million and exponentially growing? Or that you are willing to entrust your lives to an unaccountable overarching leviathan? Is our country controlled by a bank? Um, like duh…Its called the Federal Reserve and is an unconstitutional entity. If it is a govt bank, then it should be privy to the freedom of information act and congressional audit. If it is privately held, then the federal reserve act of 1913 is illegal and the bank itself should be audited by the IRS and then subjected to sherman antitrust. But, then again, you shallow fools can bitch about healthcare, which is something YOU are responsible for, never mind that MEDICAL care is what a doctor provides. And, for all you bleeding hearts pseudo intellectual liberals, HIPA laws in this country permit ANYONE to receive basic medical care. I know what my health and life is worth to me, what is it worth to the person who demands to be taken care of on the wage of another? The origin of debt would be a good argument, but I go to work for my benefit and not as a social function.

  33. BE

Great observations from someone famous for pasting donuts and Hershey kisses to her breasts.

Not a surprise she also believes the alien theories (of Scientology).

I’d like one – just one- of these celebrities to read A book before thinking they’re smart enough to comment publicly. And that opinion is turning into ANY book, as this is a great example of how lame it’s become.

Since you’re all confused: We have health care for everyone, the system setup is woefully old and inefficient. Proper distribution would help the economy and the average American.

Secondly, people did not generally decide to buy $500,000 homes on $50,000 salaries. The banks lowered their loan requirements and people used it.

Thirdly, we’re in the middle east to sit on top of 10 percent of the world’s oil reserves. So gas stays cheap. All this – so all of you can continue to drive a car with one person in it everywhere. Unlike the rest of the world who has an miniscule carbon footprint compared to any one of you.

It’s the cost of living an unrealistic and selfish lifestyle. And no, it’s NEVER free. Feel worse that men and women have died so you can get the latest Ipad…cuz the current one just isn’t cool enough…

  37. I don't understand...

Why isn’t she donating half her income after taxes to buying health care for homeless or poor families? What a hypocrite.

    • j

Miss Perry and all of her “free healthcare” friends possess enough capital to start and maintain a basic medical needs insurance company. HFAN, or Health Care for America Now spent $20 million dollars in its propaganda scheme to push for a Federal/Central Management of medical care. $20 million could have easily maintained a basic needs funding system. Again, Socialism is for the people, not the Socialist.

      • JJ

20 million is pocket change compared to the dollars being spent by insurance companies on lobbyists to preserve their gravy train!

No such thing as free health care but it is absolutely true that the US is the ONLY modern developed nation that doesn’t have universal health care for its citizens. Japan, all of western europe, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, all have universal health care. Republican morons label all this as socialism. So, apparently the whole of the developed world is socialist.

Katy Perry has traveled the world and has noticed that her home country is behind the rest of the world in this respect. She’s also married to a British person. I’m surprised she hasn’t commented on this issue sooner. When I travel around it is an issue that is hard to miss!

  45. JJ

Supreficial, I couldn’t agree with you more! The seething hate-filled republicans can cram it all up their ass!

  46. spiff-corgi

People saying “free healthcare isn’t free” are monumentally stupid. You pay for government healthcare through your taxes. If you don’t have a national health service then you’d still be paying the same amount in your taxes, then forking out tons of cash in insurance and the like for your wellbeing. So you are paying more money. A lot more money. And anyone degrading the NHS through “socialist” jibes is also monumentally stupid. I live in the UK and think it’s a beautiful thing. We have a right wing government and we still have the NHS. It’s a basic right in the developed world.

    • Suds

Oh yes, I can’t wait until we have something like the NHS, with people dying in filthy hospital hallways and horrid nursing care. Great. i can’t wait until I find a lump in my breast and it takes six months to have it biopsied. Fun times ahead! Just so people can continue to be irresponsible and lazy. Free food stamps, free housing, free cell phone, free free free. Let’s see how fast we turn into a third world toilet socialist dump.

  47. spiff-corgi

And also, Katy, stop talking about politics and UFO nonsense and just get your tits out. Nobody cares.

Free Health Care? She does realize the doctors have to get paid by someone, right?

And I can tell you right now that some states (like mine!) are almost bankrupt from the amount of health care participants they already pay for.

    • Bad American Parent

Yes… that’s what’s bankrupting the states, you keep telling yourself that. Its not the low flow toilets the governor’s cousin got paid $2500 a piece to install in every bathroom in every government building or the $400 million $ “upgrade” to the light rail system that sped the trains up by 3 MPH that they know they’ll replace in 3 years for the system that adds another 3 MPH which they could just wait for and save the $400 million. Wake up, get the facts and stop parroting back the nonsense that Fox news is feeding you. Corrupt (i.e. all of them) politicians are what’s bankrupting the states.

  50. Suds

    She is a dumbass.
