Jody Foster hasn’t announced she was gay on TV but from what I know she did talk very low key about it in some small magazine a few years ago. Unlike Rosie O’Donnell who just pretended to be in love with Tom cruise and hid her girlfriend for the years she was on TV, THEN claims that she never was in the closet.

I think she tried to bring a little flavor and not the usual boring speeches that people tune out. It got the crowd’s (and country) attention and I don’t think any less of her. My hats go out to her in trying to show the country a different side of her and not the usual ivy league, snobbish attitude. Basically – you got one chance to get it right – do so. It doesn’t take words from a genuis to understand that.

What does her sexuality, race, politics and social status have to do with all these brouhaha? What’s the big deal? She didn’t glorify Eminem, she just quoted his Oscar-winning song to get her message across to the graduates. She’s an excellent actress and it’s her technique of connecting with her audience. She was just trying to move the graduates in her own creative way to never waste any precious time, take some risks, choose what you love to do and be good at it. It’s as simple as that. No need to bash her and other people just because her rapping or the song didn’t suit your taste. Geez.

She did not embarrass herself. Rather she shared her thoughts/perspective (which she was asked to do by virtue of being invited to be the speaker). She was sincere. And it appears she just tried to mix it up a little, instead being so damn traditional.

I was AT the graduation — in fact I was graduating from Penn that day. If any of you HAD any sense whatsoever, you would realize that you can’t judge a 20-minute speech from a 30-second clip. But hey, you guys are critical thinkers, so you already knew that, right? When Ali G spoke at Harvard’s graduation, man that must have sucked. He should be sooooooo embarrassed for himself. LOLZ!!!! Her speech was great, and YES, she did, in fact, connect with the audience. She is an actress. She speaks for a living. Shocking that she would give a good speech, right?
