Scientology: ‘Can Everyone Shut Up About Cathriona White? K Thanx!’

Shortly after the death of Jim Carrey’s ex-girlfriend Cathriona White, it was discovered that she was a Scientologist, who are pathologically against psychiatry, so it’s a fair question to ask if that led to her not receiving the proper treatment for the depression that ultimately led to her suicide. And like any religion facing justifiable scrutiny, the Church of Scientology immediately responded with accusations of bigotry while presumably holding its hands over its ears and yelling, “La la la! I can’t hear you!” E! News reports:

E! News got in contact with a spokesperson from the church, who responded to Ortega’s article with the following exclusive statement: “Saying that somebody was studying Scientology in the past and connecting that to a suicide is like saying a person who had previously studied the Bible committed suicide. It is sad and reprehensible that a paid anti-Scientologist like Tony Ortega is exploiting this terrible tragedy involving a young woman: it’s a sign of outright bigotry.”

If someone committed suicide because they followed Christian “therapy” that told them to just to pray their depression away, then yes, you’re goddamn right people would be saying, “Hey, I think this stupid Christian shit caused it.” In this case, it happens to be Scientology’s turn to eschew medical research and science in favor of magic. And not just any magic, but space magic that makes Tom Cruise fly, which in fairness, is as equally as ridiculous as a bearded white guy in the sky watching to see who masturbates or touches whose sex parts with what. So if it’s “outright bigotry” to say all of that, then I must be Donald Trump and Paula Deen’s fuck-baby. You caught me.
