Jim Bob Duggar In 2002: Incest Is A Capital Crime Punishable By Death

I really didn’t want to write about the goddamn Duggars again today, but when life tempts with you a sliver of it’s delicious irony kneecap, you have no choice but to let the devil possess you and grope it in its sleep. You’re powerless to stop it. Which brings us to Jim Bob Duggar’s 2002 campaign for U.S. Senate where his political platform specifically states incest should be punishable by death. Which seems like an odd stance to take in Arkansas, but then again, he lost. Defamer reports:

Jim Bob’s platform on his campaign website – preserved via web cache – states that he believes “rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.” Jim Bob offered this belief to explain his position on abortion (only acceptable if both the mother and the baby were going to die anyway, of course).

Of course, stupid motherfuckers will say it’s not fair to point out the Duggars’ hypocrisy because Lena Dunham. – Not to mention, the stupid motherfucker in question won’t even make it two paragraphs before distorting key facts about the case like Jim Bob Duggar did not turn Josh in to a state trooper, but instead brought him to a buddy for a “stern talk.” And then said buddy, an officer of the law, reported none of the several sexual assaults of minors he was just told about. On top of that, when an actual investigation did start thanks to Oprah’s production company alerting child services, Jim Bob refused to bring Josh in for questioning. – But when a dude campaigns on making incest a capital crime, and then turns around and covers up his own son molesting his sisters, I’m pretty sure people are allowed to raise an eyebrow or two if not jump straight to strapping Cara Delevingne to their foreheads and going, “My word…” Which is where I’m at if this duct tape would hold for one sec- goddammit, she’s out the door.
