Jamie Lynn Spears’ Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 saw its ratings double when the season finale aired on Friday. Jamie Lynn already taped the fourth season before her pregnancy and Nickelodeon has been debating whether to air the new episodes. Obviously, now they will. In the meantime, Jamie Lynn is working on her GED, according to Us Magazine:
“I haven’t thought anything about what I might study,” she has said. “I’ll have to look more into that. But if I went anywhere, I think it would be fun to go to LSU.”
I don’t see the appeal of watching episodes of Zoey 101 just because Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. I mean, she wasn’t even pregnant at the time they were filmed so it’s not like the baby is going to fly out of Jamie Lynn’s uterus during a scene at the ice cream shop. Unless Nickelodeon plunked down on some CGI and really went for that Emmy.

as far as the tv show… I have 2 kids (ages 12 and 14) and they watch her show (Zoey 101) on Nick, and I didn’t make them stop watching it just because of the pregnancy. In fact, the show has nothing to do with pregnancy, so you’re not even making sense.
However, I did ask my kids if they had heard the news about the actress, and they said that they had. So I sat down and explained that nobody named Spears is a role model, and that what these people do is stupid. And I’m against abortion, but that’s my own personal feelings, and I wouldn’t push it on anyone, and I certainly don’t appreciate lumping anti-abortion people together with the Spears idiots.

It is good that you talk to your kids. Lots of parents don’t take the time to explain the difference between tv and real life, which is sad. But Nickelodeon was/is considering doing an episode or special about teen pregnancy.. did you hear?
My point about the abortion thing is that most 16 yr olds would be condemned for getting pregnant even if abortion wasn’t mentioned and they had the child and kept it. But, Jamie announced “I’m pregnant, and I’m not going to abort it” and all of a sudden she’s being hailed as some wonderful person. Well, lots of people never consider abortion when they get pregnant, so why is she special and a role model now for declaring she won’t abort her baby? Its almost as though her declaration that she isn’t going to abort has taken away from the real issue.. that she is 16 and pregnant, and living with her long-term boyfriend (long term = 1.5 months in this case) with the blessing of her parents.

But you had your own spelling error in post 46.
I pointed it out (no different than what you did).
In post 61 you accuse me of having my “panties in a bunch”. You seemed rather offended that someone would dare to point out your errors, even though you feel free to do it to others.
I pointed this out in post 62, (and here I must apologize for the confusion I have caused – I am both “jaded”, “sluts rule”, and several other names, I change them at will while posting, and it defaults to the last name I used, even if from a different thread), and I guess the first paragraph of your post 64 was due to the confusion I caused.
Now, on to the Nick teenage pregnancy special. I think it’s a good idea. Don’t know how old you are, or even if you were in America at the time, so you might not know this, but ABC used to air their “family after school specials” in the 70′s. These one hour specials would deal with all different topics, possibly including teen pregnancy (it’s been a long time, so I don’t remember them all). Those specials were a good idea, because it gave parents an opportunity to have discussions with their children about issues that they (the children) might face. This is exactly what Nick is looking into doing. It will not be a “Jaime Spears” special. It probably won’t even mention her by name. And for parents who have difficulty discussing sex with the children (my parents never had the “birds and bees” talk with me), it will give them an opportunity to open a dialouge, and at the same time (hopefully) have most of the questions already answered by the experts on the show (even if it set as a fictional story, like the old ABC specials, there should at least be scenes where the teens discuss things with doctors, family planning people, their parents, whoever).
So, stop bad mouthing Nick. It’s not like they but the sperm into Spears. And as far as the season finale that they just aired, there are probably contractual issues to consider as well as “just filling the time slot”. As to the upcoming season – it completed filming before Spears got pregnant. So, even if they air it, it won’t have anything to due with teen pregnancy – she won’t be pregnant on the show, and it won’t discuss the real-life Spears, since it was written and filmed before any of this happened.
Finally, you seem to be the person claiming Spears is a role model. I haven’t heard that anywhere else.
