Hulk Hogan: God wants John Graziano in a coma to make him ‘a better person’

June 11th, 2008 // 107 Comments

Oh, man, those crazy Hogans have done it again! This time Hulk stopped by Larry King Live last night for an emotional interview about his son Nick’s imprisonment. At the end of the interview, a teary-eyed Hulk remained positive that Nick’s accident happened for a divine reason and then expressed his belief that John Graziano’s coma would make him “a better person.” Here’s an excerpt from the transcript on CNN.com:

KING: It is OK. This is hard. Who could ever imagine.
HOGAN: It is the main focus is my son, my children and John Graziano. It has been a tough one, Larry. You know, you said to me during the break, this is the second part of the dance. So it is halftime and we’re positive. We’re moving forward.
KING: You believe in god.
HOGAN: Yes, I do.
KING: Do you believe in the second act? Do you believe in forgiveness?
HOGAN: Like I said, this is in God’s hand. Things happen for a reason. This is to make Nick a better person. In my belief, this is to make John a better person. It is like I said before, you know, it is god’s will where we’re at with this situation. I refuse to accept any negativity, any nay sayers. I firmly believe there is a plan. It is god’s plan and god’s will.

WOW! Because nothing improves your outlook on life than a coma you’ll never wake up from. Damn, these people will blame anyone but themselves. I’m looking forward to Linda Hogan appearing on The View where she’ll point the finger at, of course, John Graziano along with Satan and “the rat-bastard who invented the wheel.” Her son’s a driver of vehicles – How could you?!

NOTE: Video after the jump. Hulk citing lifelong paralysis as a self-help plan around the 2:50 mark.

    Oh
    My
    God

Hulk Hogan is a piece of dukey. I can’t believe he actually thinks his son is the instrument of God, and that God made his son crash from street racing just to punish this kid.

    Wow.

I hope they don’t *really* believe in the christian god, and that the christian god doesn’t exist. Cuz I’m pretty sure this family of douchebags would go to hell for this. How pathetically disgusting.

  2. Zanna

@44 – you call that “damage control?”

  3. Matthew

ric flair is a better and a all-time wrestler than hulk now!

  4. jizzcannon

the hulkster brings the god…let’s all crash and burn together. he didn’t even pull that shameless stuff when he was at the wrestling peak of drama. i say booooo, shameless.
    JIZZ

  5. snarky

Even if thats what he believes, he should keep his friggen mouth shut out of respect for the Graziano family. If I was them and I heard that comment, I would have all I could do not to go over there with a shot gun and blast the hulk’s head off…for the betterment of him and his family, of course…well, it would at least be an improvement…he wouldn’t have a mouth to talk with anymore, and we wouldn’t have to look at his ugly fricken mug. Everything happens for a reason Hulk…and the reason that just happened is because you’re a big giant A-hole with no respect or empathy for others.

  6. latty

what a stupid fuck. goddamn. who let this man go onto live television and tell 50 million people being in a coma and likely to never wake up will make you a better person?

Gee, someone shoulda told that to Michael Schiavo….

  7. James

What a heartless son of a bitch.

  8. michelle

@#28- Your comment is strange. What did you mean by makes whites look as bad as some of the other races…. that comes across as racist, whether you meant to or not

What bothers me most about these so called religious people is they act like they have a direct line to God by saying it is Gods plan and it will make John being in coma a better person. Basically they are implying that they know more than everyone else because they have the spirit of God in their hearts. The spirit of God is not based on claiming a religion but by ones character.

  11. Courtney

I am sure Hulks son feels bad about his friend being in coma. John was like a brother to him. John was 24 years old and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. John would probably not be in coma today if he wore his seat belt. I blame Hulks bad parenting. The Hulk knew his son had 2 speeding tickets and let him drive around anyway.

  12. MW

Courtney: The driver is responsible for making sure his passengers are buckled up.
    Pizza: Nicely put.
Question- why didn’t Larry call him out when he said that?!! He should have said “how can a coma possibly make someone a better person?!”

  13. Courtney

    #62

Pardon my ignorance but Hulks son was 17 at the time and his friend was 23 so shouldn’t the older person know better?

Is there a Florida law requiring drivers to make their passengers buckle up or else they can get fined?

    Thanks.

  14. duster

If that’s God’s will – not a very good argument for God, is it?
Funny how people often turn to God as a means of absolving themselves of any guilt.

  15. #62

Larry was soft on The Hulk. He should have also asked Hulk to quote a passage from the Bible like he did with Paris Hilton and Paris was clueless.

  16. Domani Lunatico

Why does this white-trash fogger think he has ANY CLUE about fate and what people deserve?!

  17. tomtom

hogan old piece of sh@t ypu are a bastard rot in hell

  18. shasta

    That’s just sad!!!!

  19. pat

    #41 LL:
Beautiful, couldn’t have said it better.

  20. Trent

Why is almost everyone giving Hulk Hogan grief. First of all Nick should not have spent one day in jail. It was his friend that was in the accident. John knew how Nick drives. Sure he has a few drinks in him but he wasn’t drunk and would have passed the breathalizer. In my home town there was a road race and there was an accident. The person driving surivied but the passenger died, his best friend. No one sued no one. This is another case of someone suing someone because he is famous. That is the USA for you.

  21. Igottabemeeee

Well if good things happen from bad circumstances, I think that justifies my going on a shooting spree and murdering everyone I don’t like. After all, god wouldn’t let it happen unless it was in his plan, and everyone will have good things afterwards too. It is a complete win/win for everybody.

I am certain that underage drinking, speeding, reckless driving, racing, and general douchebagginess is also a tool in the hands of a loving god. Amen.

  22. Caminador

@37 – I agree with you, sort of. In THIS INTERVIEW, Hogan is conveying a belief (a retarded and naive one, IMO) that all things happen for a reason and he looks to faith to keep that belief. It’s wrong to say he is saying that what happened to John G. is a good thing, because he’s not. IN THIS INTERVIEW.

However, this IS damage control. What comes out in private phone calls (“i don’t know what John did, to bring this on himself, I know he used to yell at people a lot…” ) is how someone truly feels, and it is obvious that faith is used a little too much by this family to escape blame. But, that being said, I’m sure he truly is upset, and despite their douchiness, this really is a shitty, shitty situation. His son didn’t mean to put his friend in a coma and his friend didn’t do anything to deserve it. But, he fucked up, he drove drunk, he should stop being a pussy. And John G. will not become a better person because as #41 said, he’s not coming back, at least in the traditional sense of the word. He will be a vegetable or dead from here on out, and Hulk Hogan obviously has no idea how to deal with that. That’s why people bring out the “God’s will” argument. They don’t know what to do by themselves, so they make up a fairy tale karmic law that controls everything. Ta da! But fuck Nick, especially, he’s a faggot.

  23. A men? How bout some women?

And so I guess God wanted his Jews to die in the Holocaust as well?
Why does God let man destroy his creation? Why does God not give the rest of us a sign other than the mandates of some beligerent church leaders who are mostly phoneys and fags anyway? Ahh the word is in the Bible. I see. The bible is a ridiculous story so how can we believe something that doesn’t make sense?
Just believe in your self and Bill Belichek. Or O. J.

  24. bootlips

The reason why kids are so screwed up today is their liberal ass parents were more concerned with being friends with them instead of being parents.

  25. Amazing Larry

It’s God’s will that I will now eat a nice juicy hamburger. I love you Jesus!

  26. Jennifer

    #74:

So then, if Hulk was a liberal, and he was screwed up enough to raise a screwed up son, was Hulk also screwed up by liberal parents? And by that token, were Hulks’ parents screwed up by *their* liberal parents, which is why they produced a screwed up son?

“Liberalism is killing the children” went back that far?

Maybe the Hulk family is just screwed regardless of political. And to be honest, they always struck me as being more to the right of the spectrum, anyway.

  27. Igottabemeeee

To those who say it is “just an accident,” is that how you would feel if a drunk driver killed/disabled someone close to you? It’s always a different story then, huh? He just happened to injure the person in his own car, but he just as easily could have injured an innocent bystander. Would that person’s life mean more or less? Your reasoning is ridiculous.

You think that he didn’t ask Nick if he was ok to drive? Oh yeah Dude, I’m cool.

  28. I’m not much of a celebrity watcher/chaser, so have never seen the Hogan family reality show. There’s been so much publicity; it was hard not to notice the whining Hogan family, hard to believe!

I’ve got a son in prison. Of course, he and I both grew up a little different than the whiney, pumped up, silicone Hogan family. Although, my son is a man now (legally), he did spend time as a juvenile. One thing he never did/does is whine like a baby about why he is where he is. He is no doubt sorry he got caught, but he never sniffled about his time. Had he cried to me about that, I would have put him straight immediately. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as protective a mother as ever was/is. What I did do for my son was hire the best representation I could afford. Never, did I conjure in my mind, nor would I have allowed my son to minimize what he had done. To date, my son accepts what he deserves, without crying over it.

I’m convinced that the Hogan family, together with anyone who are actually entertained by a group of sniffling celebrities living their day-to-day lives, need a good dose of reality, life!

  29. ARIMAS

it is amazing how people here is mixing up GOD and Jesus LOL. GOD is not a fucking person you dumb shitheads!! it is not a guy sitting on the cloud!!! you can call it GOD you can call it enegry you can call it whatever BUT IT IS NOT A FUCKING CREATURE… and iam also amazed how nobody gets a damn point of what HOGAN SAID. …. you guys are soooo poor that you cannot get poorer .

  30. now it’s confirmed the hogans are idiots

  31. Denise

If there is a God he is not wasting his time putting people in coma. God gives humans free will. We are merely one particle of sand in this big universe.

  32. danny bonaduce

that is real messed up. GUYS AND I MEAN ALL GUYS OUT THERE—this is what happens when you marry a stank ho who thinks she is way hotter than she is. linda hogan thinks she is sooooo hot but you can just tell this ho has mad yeast. linda hogan is so nasty i mean dis biotch puts da “UG” IN “UGLY”. hang in there hulk—i mean your a dumb bozo goon and yo wife is a stank azz ho–did you expect your kids wouldnt be all messed up. hahahahahaha—i mean count your blessings that brook is smarter than a rock. barely but still i will say this “BROOK IS SMARTER THAN A ROCK—-BARELY”

  33. Shi

When priests and preachers and pastors say this crap it’s fine and inspirational — when people repeat it, they’re lunatics?

How is that fair? It’s all bullshit from the beginning.

  34. Ugh. What’s wrong with his face in that picture? Looks like pinky doughy nastiness.

Most spiritual leaders say God has a plan for everyone but they do not say God made this terrible thing happen to make the person a better person.

  36. ailina

I’ can read between the lines, it sounds like he’s trying to say that John G. deserved what happened ! and he’s only concerned about the treatment his son is getting in jail ! ! how pathetic…your son almost kills his friend and YOUR only concern, in my opinion, is YOUR son…i don’t believe that B.S that you love and care about John .. please! you must think everyone is a ding dong….Im sure if John was able to say it, he’d rather be in jail than comatose!
hulk you have a big head….and yes, God had this in store for you…you are selfish and arrogant, and your son is a mirror of you…

  37. Juan Jose

everyone in jail always wants redeption from god. Hogans son should be put in jail longer to think of the wrong he put his pal in. drinking and driving is never right.. I pray that his pal recover in some way he can live some life.
prayers go out to the family of the pal. The hogans go pray in church of your choice that god willing will help your sons pal.

  38. granimal

Fuck the Hogans! What goes around comes around,it will all come back on them 10 fold!

  39. hoganmakesmesick

The whole Hogan family seems to be borderline sociopaths!

No wonder the Hogan children don’t take responsibility for their actions. I’m sure a lot of stupid actions by all parties involved led up to the accident, but the absolute lack of remorse and responsibility by the Hogan family is sickening.
I’m lost for words and more than a little sick to my stomache that WE (as in we the people) gave this family their money and “fame”.
I will do my best to boycott them from now on, surely don’t want any of my money (or money people pay for my attention) going to that rotten family.

  40. Lillie Herrera

I am sick of seeing so much negativity about the Hogans. Terry “Hulk” Hogan ldisplayed much emotional pain at Larry King’s interveiw, and I don’t understand why people are so heartless and so ready to judge them. The world has become so cruel and the love of many has become wax cold.
I didn’t see all this negative commotion, when Ted Kennedy walk out of that Dyke Bridge at Chappaquidick back in 1969, after his car plunged in that water with a girl (Mary Jo Kopechne) inside and he left her there to drown. Even to have become a senator, should have been not allowed from the public. Forgive me, but I believe Hulk Hogan is a compassionate man, unlike many celebreties. I have a teenage daughter and I know alot of us have children, so we have to be careful on the judging of this young man and his family, because it will knock on our door one day.

  42. Caldy

Unfortunately in the US religion has simply become a tool for the absolution of the stupid. Do whatever you like and if you believe in Jesus all will be forgiven…

  43. Caldy

    Lillie,

I love the last line “because it will knock on our door one day”..

Why is that people like you cant deal with reason and logic and instead turn to fearmongering?

Finally, you state that we should be more understanding in cases like these and they you insert that rant about Kennedy – implying that he didnt get suitably punished because he was allowed to become a senator. Even with a very weak mind, surely you can see the double standard?

  44. Here he is,skull fcuked i’d say

  45. Lenore

It amazes me to see how dumb people can be sometimes when I read the comments on sites like these.

Sure Hogan’s son gets what he deserves given the situation he’s brought upon himself — there’s no doubt in my mind about it. Sure it is horrible and I wouldn’t be in one of the Graziano’s shoes right now. I’ve seen the uncensored video about his messed up head and did feel a lot for him and for his family, that poor guy probably won’t come out of this as his normal self again — that is if he comes out of this at all.

But I sure wouldn’t be in one of the Hogan’s shoes either. I have to say I never watched their show in my entire life and that I’m not a fan at all, let alone the fact that I did like the wrestler character back then. I’m not really one to idolize celebrities this way, I find it a little odd.
That said, this story somehow touching me, I watched the entire interview and what I saw was a saddened father overwhelmed by the situation. Are you famous or not, weird or not, sane or not, watching your child suffering in life is NOT a simple thing, whether he/she asked for it or not — you parents out there, if you love your children, will probably understand what I mean. Is Hogan seeking comfort in religion or anything else of that matter, that’s none of our business. Pain is confusing, it is hard, has any of you ever feel it? How did you react? How did you bear with it? We think things, we say things and some of them are things we wouldn’t normally think or say. Just remember how hard it is and then imagine yourself having to speak publicly about it, to hear all of them stories, theories and harsh comments coming up every day and somehow having to respond to it in a way that people won’t think the least of you. Just imagine the biggest tragedy in your life brought on tabloids by the media, having to deal with both your problems AND the pressure of the world pointing its finger at you? Wouldn’t you just lose it? I bet you would. I, for myself, am no robot so I know I would.

All I can say is I feel for those families, BOTH the Hogans and the Grazianos. The Hogans are sure in a lot of trouble and pain caused by this car crash and the Grazianos are about to lose a son, a brother, a husband. Now how in the world can you just sit on your butt watching tragedies like this one on TV, on your PC and somehow think you know these people enough to make judgments on how they should feel/react and what they should say? Sure Hogan could have done better in this interview. And sure the Grazianos’ lawyers are gonna make everything they can to kick Hogan son’s ass. Isn’t it their job? The bottom line is that they’re all gonna suffer like we all do when shit happens but they are gonna recover from it someday and move on like, again, we all do.
The difference is that they’ll never be able to forget as this story is printed all over the world.

  46. OMFG

Hulk (Terry Bollea) got one thing RIGHT!.

    This is definitely God’s will.

Only our creator has the power to reverse or heal everything.

But he’s NOT!..going to do that.

    And that’s to teach..”The BOLLEAs” a lesson.

God help YOU!..Bollea family. May you…finally change your ways!

The whole family should thank God it’s not WORSE!

If Graziano had (or should die). Nick would be in prison doing hard time for murder/negligent homicide.

The WHOLE family would be singing a different tune.

It’s time for them to REAP what they have sown.

My prayers..to John and the Graziano Family.

  47. oye putitos, no sean mamones

  48. Reason

To all of you, did they find the gun that Nick held to John’s head and made him get in the car???

This situation is TERRIBLE, to be sure. The way Nick and his family and their “handlers” have dealt with it has been horrendous. The lives of 2 families and countless friends have been forever shattered.

That doesn’t change the fact that John got in the car under his own free will.

  49. Stan

oh silly hulk man, when will you learn that there IS no god?
