What has any of this ever done for the United States? Nothing. The only time other countries seem to be happy with our situation, is when we have some crisis.

Haitians dying is a necessary evil. It sucks that people have to die, but as *105* points out, the world is overpopulated. This is largely because of third-world birth rates. They breed like animals and then they can’t take care of their children — causing overpopulation, which leads to limited resources, which then in turn leads to poverty.
The earth can not keep sustaining this population. To balance things out people need to die. For the sake of advancement, the fact that it is now the Haitians is a good thing. Would you rather the Brits, the Japanese, Germans, French, Koreans, Americans, Indians, or Chinese to die? The world needs these people. They actually contribute something to the improvement of mankind. They invent, make scientific discoveries, and create jobs. What do the Haitians do other than leech off of the aforementioned countries? If somebody has to go to maintain livable conditions in this world, then it is best if the people who don’t matter go. The best outcome would have been if it broke off and slide under the sea during the earthquake. What’s the goal here, anyway? I would like to donate and I will (been to lazy) but I believe there must be some international organization to be formed just to WATCH all those money to be distributed to those who need, not the World Bank (binge of thieves) or corrupted government of Haiti. Where are the guarantees that the money would go to the people in need. I keep watching Euronews its been a week, Haitians interviewed cry that NOBODY helps them, that military etc arrive but nothing is being done but getting people isolated, preventing them from fleeing the island. I don’t understand what is the big deal. Donate or don’t donate. Why abuse Haiti when it is down? They are not the most productive people in the world, but that does not mean we should make fun of them or relish in their grief.

When I saw pictures of what they did to a thief down there (Children too!) I decided I didn’t want to give them anything. Who is there to take control of the anarchy that ensues from a natural disaster like the earthquake in Haiti? Who will be there to protect them if their nation gets invaded?
The reason why regions like Canada, Europe, or Japan are such great places to live is because they don’t need to spend a lot of money on national defense…why? Because they know if any country: Russia, China, whoever, attacked them, the U.S. would not tolerate it. We’d be right there to defend them. I posted #82 yesterday; to everybody’s surprise two more people have been pulled out alive. This was exactly what I was getting at. I do believe that I will make a call tomorrow and make a donation, but this time it will be to “Doctors Without Borders”, or “The Red Cross”. I feel sorry for the Haitians and the families that have to endure such a tragedy. But the natives are not helping their cause. They seem vary unappreciative of the aid. They don’t understand the initial difficulty in providing help to a nation with no infrastructure. It’s like they are blaming the rescuers and volunteers for what the earthquake did, or for they poor state of their country prior to the earthquake. I’ve seen Haitians throw food away because they *thought* it was stale. One would think starving people could care less about a food’s expiration date, but apparently the Haitians would rather have a 5 course meal sent to them from New York’s finest restaurants. You did not see such behavior during the tsunami in South East Asia, the earthquake in Pakistan, the floods in the Midwest, or the earthquake in China. One would think a people so accustomed to living in poverty would be gracious for foreign donations, no matter what it is. Perhaps all of the aid they have been given over the years has made them spoiled for handouts.

Some countries broke free of colonial rule…and then failed to establish and maintain a successfully functioning independent government and economy. Haiti is one of them. Some countries simply don’t have the material and human resources to function autonomously. Rebuilt Haiti ten times and it will fail 11 times. There’s nothing wrong with stating the historical facts.
