So this X-men flick is basically a Terminator reboot? Eh, I’m surprisingly O.K. with that, although some full-frontal of Jennifer Lawrence would help.

  2. Game of Lawn Chairs

Looks OK. But I’m getting tired of the over the top giant object/spaceship/beast in the sky epic city destroying battles. Seeing the stadium lift up I half expected the Avengers and/or Transformers to fly in to lend a hand.

  3. It would be a bad look for Tatum. Unless they back a Brinks truck up to his house it wouldn’t be worth it. He doesn’t need to jump on someone else’s franchise. He’s well on his way to the A-List if he’s not there already. Nobody’s expecting Pitt to show up as fucking Forge.

  4. jesus… i gotta go back a re-read the comic… i don’t remember it being this epic…

    • The plot and characters are interesting but the dialogue manages to be both simplistic and overwrought and the art looks like ass which was common for comics back then.

You should definately check out X-Men Second Coming. The best X-men comic arch in a long ass time and it is kind of a follow up to the Days of Future Past universe.

      • …all comic book dialogue was simplistic until about the 90′s (in particular the heavy reliance on hamfisted exposition), it was a simpler time, so i kinda forgive/overlook it …the art though? you’re not a byrne fan? he was the shit in his day, plus, this was the era of john buscema, gil kane, barry windsor smith, so i’m gonna have to disagree about the art …thanks for the recommendation, tho’ …i’ll check out second coming.

      • Yeah, the exposition is exactly what I am talking about. Word dumps on the page. The reason I don’t like older comic art is because it’s not very dynamic, it kind of reminds me of if someone were making a movie but only used two frames on the camera with no editing of shots and the camera never moves. The action shots are static, I think this started to change in the late 90s when comic book movies started to become big money makers, publishers started to adopt a more cinematic look in the panels. Also, the inking in older comics, even when they were new, it’s not as bold as it is now. Compared to the stuff they make today it all has a faded look to it.

Ironically, nowadays, it’s characterization and plot that suffers badly compared to the stuff that was made 20-30 years ago. Second Coming is actually an exception to this, and Marvel makes sooo many crossover arches nowadays.

      • Johnny Barbells

…i could’nt agree with you more about modern character & plot being subpar compared to the old days …which is ironic seeing as this is the era of writers getting top billing instead of artists …i think it’s a symptom of the corporatizing of comics; everything is geared toward the next major (money-making) crossover event that-shakes-up-the-entire-universe-and-nothing-will-be-the-same, so it’s hard to write good books when you have to coordinate everything with the editorial staff to make sure everybody is in lock step with the current program …IMO all the really good stories nowadays are one-offs, or take place out of continuity (cory walker’s “destroyer” comes to mind ) …as far as the quality of old comics: i can’t argue with you, all i can say is; i was a kid in the 70′s/80′s, those were my comics, that was the state of the art for the time, they have a charm all their own …but i can relate because i feel the same way about old movies; i can’t get into them because the dialogue, characters, storylines, and technology of the past is just too primitive, it takes me out of the movie.

  5. Tonethius

    Aubrey Hepburn ??

  6. Joy

James McAvoy is fucking hot as shit.

  7. 1. That was one long-ass trailer.

    2. McAvoy is fucking beautiful.

    3. They somehow made Evan Peters look attractive, which is a minor miracle since he normally looks like a twelve-year-old boy band member

    4. This actually doesn’t look half bad.

  8. Berry nice, but why do Jackman’s bone claws sound like metal?
I’ve been bone-clawed before and it didn’t sound anything like holy shit did I say that out loud?
