Gwen Stefani as you remember her

May 1st, 2009 // 65 Comments

Gwen Stefani returned to her roots and performed with No Doubt this morning on The Today Show. Man, these bring back memories of my youth, and each one ends exactly the same: Me getting smacked with a Bible because no one knew how to knock in my family. Which reminds me, guess who’s not blind, suckers!

I have been waiting for this for years! I first heard them when I was 15 and I have been hooked ever since. Gwen is great as a solo artist, but No Doubt feels like home. Love them!!

I remember seeing them in ’91 and ’92 many times at Old World and the Ice House, which was pre platinum blond days. They were always kick ass, I wish they would do some of that really old shit. Like Trapped In A Box. It was a different and harder style than even their most recent music. Good stuff. Good to see them back.

awww..you poor little wigger. Dont get your corn rows in a tussy shanaynay…I know your mad because your parents named you something afrocentric to compensate for their white guilt…but anger in life will get you nowhere…just asked your namesake where shes at right now. Go ahead, you can ask her through the drive-thru window.

I miss their old stuff. Their self titled debut album was the best, back when Gwen was a brunette and still had punk cred. It all went downhill after Tragic Kingdom.

I agee with you and think their first album was the best too. Gwen wrote her best music while suffering from a broken heart after the bass player broke up with her. I also think it is great that she is happy with her body and never got breast implants.

I guess even racist asshats like #16/#23 have opinions. Who would have thought it? I assumed people like him were too busy impregnating relatives! Douche bucket, next time, you only have to hit the “post” button once! I realize computers are probably a new technology to you. What a butt-puppet!

If you are going to go back on the road because you love the high energy of the crowd, perhaps the first song you play should be a little more up tempo that “Don’t Speak” so that the crowd really gets on their feet. A ballad never seems to cut it when you’re trying to pump someone up.

I love No Doubt’s music, but this was slooooowwwww.

@35. Really??? Gosh, I didn’t know that. See, I only mentioned that I love No Doubt’s music, so that probably means I don’t know a fucking thing about the songs or their origins.

Since you didn’t read my first post, I’ll try to make easier for you to understand: I commented on the tempo of the song. “Just A Girl” would have been a perfect HIGH ENERGY opening. If each of your four band mate is going to tell the talking heads of TV FOUR times that you love the crowd energy, then play something that’s going to blow them up, not soothe them. I love “Don’t Speak,” also, but it’s a ballad and goes directly in the face of what you just made comment on – that you love the crowd energy.

Am I the only one who hates No Doubt’s ska bullshit and does not find Gwen Stefani attractive, a role model, or talented in any way? She’s got a cleft chin, no tits, no curves and her voice is annoying as hell.

The music seems to be lacking some of it’s… edge. I know it’s a morning show, but common. Anyway, I love this song, and can’t wait to catch a No Doubt show, so long as it’s not an arena tour.

But also, was it really necessary to bring back the 90′s clothing/hair? Can’t No Doubt be themselves without looking ridiculous?
