Gary Coleman dead at 42 (1968 – 2010)

May 28th, 2010 // 125 Comments

One last unfortunate update, folks, Gary Coleman died today after being taken off life support, according to RadarOnline:

Coleman had been hospitalized in Provo, Utah since Wednesday, May 26, after suffering what his family called “a serious medical problem.”
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Coleman had slipped into a coma and was on life support after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage, according to ABC News.

You really can’t say anything bad about Gary Coleman considering he was doomed the minute he stepped foot on the set of Diff’rent Strokes. Everything that transpired afterward was out of his hands, and I for one don’t begrudge the man a few random head-buttings while trying to navigate through a world that must’ve seemed built for only giants.

Rest in Peace, Gary. May you find what Willis was talkin’ ’bout on the other side.

Although I rarely watched “Different Strokes” I always thought he was a cool dude. After hearing about his physical state and what his parents did to him I thought, wow, this guy was really rooked, especially by his parents.

I’ve always wonder why Hollywood seemed to turn its collective back on him as I always thought he had the possibilities to have further success in that cesspool.

Why did not original visionaries like a Quentin Tarantino, Farrelly Brothers, or a Tim Burton get this guy on board one of their interesting projects. Gary would have been great as a villain in a Batman movie. Any of these guys and a few others would have known what to do with Gary. And they could have helped him revitialize his career.

I’m sorry to see him go. But now, maybe, he can find the peace he never had living.

On a side note, Fish, And I know it won’t mean anything to you. But if that fucking pop-up promo for Mr. Demi Moore and that Heigle bitch comes up again on every single click of the mouse I’m gonna bail for a while.

I suspect I won’t be the only one.

One thing for it to come up on the main page…ONCE!…. But to keep coming up every time we click back and forth from one page to another, well, my man, you’re sorely testing the patience of your loyal readership.

Careful, man. You could go too far with that bullshit.

    All together now:

Well the world don’t move to the bear of just one drum
What might be right for you, may not be right for some
A man is born, he’s a man of means
Then along come two, they got nothin’ but the dreams
It takes, Diff’rent Strokes it takes, Diff’rent Strokes it takes, Diff’rent strokes to rule the world.

Eveybody’s got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine
It don’t matter that you got, not a lot, so what?
They’ll have theirs, you’ll have yours and I’ll have mine
    But together we’ll be fine

“Cause it takes Diff’rent Strokes, it takes, Diff’rent Strokes, it takes, Diff’rent Strokes to rule the world!

    OOOOOOOH!

    RIP Gary.

After thinking about it for a while, thinking about how he and his wife had such a turbulent, even violent, realationship; and given how so far the details of how he “fell” are nil and shrouded in secrecy, I’m wondering if we’re going to be hearing more about this as a normal investigation progresses.

His wife is a normal sized woman who could easily have, either in a defensive or aggressive mode, likely do some real harm to Gary if she so chose.

Like so many others from the moment I heard he was admitted into ICU I had a bad feeling about his chances of survival. I’ve also got a bad feeling his wife has much to do with Gary dying.

Well, we’ll see if anything comes of this beyond today.
