Anyone else bought the new album yet. Im a semi-fan of Sigur Ros but there are some really great tracks on Takk, and some kind of dodgy ones too.

If you've heard one Sigur Ros album, you've heard them all. Save your money and imagine what the album sounds like.

strangely enough one of my friends showed me a video of theirs on their website this evening. Strangely moving. No idea what it was though.

I know what you mean Mort. I like Emiliani Torrini better, not related at all except for the fact that she's icelandic.

I love their music. Their songs are not all of the same, although I can see how somebody that isn't a musician would think that.

Anyway, great atmospheric music. I am able to both focus entirely on it or not at all.

I was most impressed with the first 4 songs on ().

I said their albums sound the same, not their songs. I'm not much of a fan of ambient music, and I'm certainly not an expert on it.

I can see how they can sound the same. Although, I personally think they are structured a lot differently. I'm not an expert in ambient music either, but after you study music for so long you eventually can hear the different parts.

Dr.B? (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7586880205583288243&q=%22sigur+ros%22)

Excellent, excellent band.

Takk, is in Icelandic rather than "Hopelandish" and is far more constructed than previous albums. Their other 3 sound similar, but I can't get enough anyway.

I think Sigur Ros are best in small doses. Especially during particularly creative periods. Because at the end of listening to Sigur Ros i usually fling on some crap pop music; just because whilst you appreciate the structuring and almost randomness of it all - you also appreciate a direct opposite straight afterwards

My favourite tracks are

Untitled #4
Milano
Glosoli
Se Lest
Vidrar Vel Til.....

Sigur Ros fans also may find some interest in Múm.

Múm is 5 times better than Sigur Ros. Got Takk a month or so ago. I don't know. It doesn't 'get' to me. Don't really get what people like about it. Same thing with The Arcade Fire. What's the big deal?!
(I'm going to get flamed, aren't I?)

I downloaded it a couple of months ago.

It was really boring.

Sigur Ros is brilliant. I've been liked this band forever. But I got to say that ( ) was a superior album to Takk, though it still has some high points.
