I saw this last night. No masterpiece but Cronenberg's best since Crash.
Who else has seen it?

I thought it was great. Good to see Viggo Mortensen doing some serious acting, and Maria Bello is always brilliant (and I really liked her blue jumper). I had to look away at some of the more violent scenes, but they were beautifully choreographed and unsettling. The sex on the stairs was kind of disturbing, especially since I've read that the bruises you see later were real, and came from shooting that scene.
But overall -- funny, disturbing, one where you realise at the very end that you've been holding your breath for too long.

It's not all that and a bag of chips.
Very gruesome, actually quite needlessly violent, but then maybe that was the point. :?

I think it was. Plus The director likes to make people feel uncomfortable, hence the sex scenes.
I also liked what he was saying about the media at the beginning, it was funny cause it was true.

Best since Crash ('96)? ...........I Finally saw it, one of the worst movies I have ever seen, ever. Still love Cronenberg, with The Brood ('79) being my favorite film by him.
worse movie ever?
Hmm, and here I thought Howard the Duck was the worse movie ever oh that & Crossroads starring Zitney Spears.

Crossroads was all about an underage girl losing her cherry to an older man........brilliant! Crash ('96) was about............well nothing. It's good for a short film, but 2 hours of "I wonder how many girls he's fucked in that BIG car of his" talk......horrible.

There are only really 3 violent scenes, but they are very violent.

The second sex scene is a kind of violence too. I thought it was a really good film, and I don't like much of Cronenberg's stuff...

It's not like it's a violent movie like Arnie movies. It's a movie about violence and the effect it can have on the people around you, so when there is violence, it has to be fairly full on. But it doesn't happen much.
But it might freak you out, I dunno.

My husband and I both thought it was TERRIBLE! We were so disappointed because the reviews were all so good, but we thought it was a steaming pile of dog crap. The only good acting in the movie was Maria Bello. The bully kid was terrible and the son was awful. We actually found ourselves laughing during some scenes because the dialogue was so lame. Worst movie I've seen all year (and I saw Waiting). 0 out of 5.

I would give Waiting a 2 out of 5. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. All of the reviews were terrible, but I found it to be semi-entertaining. There are a few laugh out loud moments. Dane Cook is hilarious!

The closest cinema near is a 5 hour drive and after the 5 kilometer walk to the nearest road. I think they are playing the matrix reloaded.

good, i love dane cook!
This was the worst movie I think I've ever seen.
The dialogue was horrible.
The scenes were unrealistic (except the actual shooting parts).
The acting was really bad (come on - William Hurt is the "bad guy")
I don't think I've ever seen more people walk out of a theater. I stayed because I was laughing at the son. His "drama" acting was very funny. Kind of like the same way you would laugh at Footloose.

I was looking at one of my old Rolling Stone magazines this morning and they gave it an "excellent" rating. What is wrong with this world!??
