Do you have any phobias?
I for one 2 phobias.... The 1st one is somewhat normal.. my 2nd phobia... I dont know.. I think I have issues... lol
1st phobia is NEEDLES... I cannot see a needle (syringes), I am petrified of them. I have bitten, kicked and hit nurses trying to get blood out of me.. Apparently there was an incident when I was a little kid... that has made it extremely difficult for me to even look at a needle...
2nd phobia is... LMFAOO feel almost stupid saying it... but propane tanks. OMG... if I see one I RUN the other way. Propane tanks hooked up to BBQs are even worse  ... If Im attending a bbq, I will wai ttill the damn thing is turned off b4 I even enter the area..
Ya i know gay, but thats my PHOBIA (Phobia is technically used to describe irrational, disabling fear as a mental disorder, and commonly misused to describe hatred of a particular thing or subject)
Here are some phobias I found a lil funny...
Ithyphallophobia - Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect penis.
Medomalacuphobia - Fear of losing an erection
Medorthophobia - Fear of an erect penis
Amerophobia, Columbophobia - Fear of the United States, American culture, etc.
Octophobia - Fear of the figure 8
Polyphobia - Having many phobias
Spamophobia - Fear of Spam

I hate honeycomb shapes...it freaks me out.
If you don't know what a honeycomb is, then look it up cause I aint posting a pic and its a terribly silly thing anyway to be freaked out about, not necessarily a phobia, though.
I am incredibly claustrophobic and I hate people I don't know touching me, I actually hate mainly everyone touching me.

Though not scary.

I'm not afraid of heights, closed spaces, spiders, or anything like that.
However I am afraid of ladder steps. Those are the stairs that have the big gaping spaces in between each step. I fell through them as a kid and have been apprehensive going up them ever since. At one point they were almost paralyzing to me walking up them. I have managed to overcome it quite a bit, but I still hold onto the railing for dear life.
A lot of roller coasters have those types of steps to get up to the front of the line, and I'm waaaay more anxious climbing the steps than the actual ride.
This doesn't apply to regular ladders either, or regular stairs. Funny how an instance in our childhood can still affect us way into adulthood.

I have a phobia of leaving things behind when I'm somewhere. Like on the bus, at a bench. Today I was down on my hands and knees crawling around under a bench just to make sure I didn't lose anything or leave anything there
It's totally irrational because in the back of my mind I KNOW I didn't leave anything, but I HAVE to look.
Then of course, spiders and centipedes.
lol@the propane tank thing. I have a friend who is really scared of ovens, but I don't think it's to the "phobia" level yet

I swear I feel stupid at BBQ parties and shit... cuz I'll make a freeking scene...
One time while away at a friend's cottage.. My girl was trying to turn on the BBQ and she kept clicking the "thing" and nothing..... CLICK CLICK CLICK...
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!! I freeeeked out I RAN AND RAN AND RAN.. all I kept thinking was that there was gonna be an explosion...
I ran so far so fast that i got lost and couldnt find my way back.. so my stupid freinds had to hop in the car to come look for me and find me on the side of the highway.... SO GAY!

I just remembered a couple of others that I have, or had. When I read these I feel pretty stupid!
1. I do not attend airshows because I truly feel there's going to be a crash every time I look up. I have no fear of flying though.
2. I used to have a fear of screens, yes screens on windows. Not one window in my house had them. I think I was afraid of being trapped, or something. It was asinine. I'm over that. But not until I was like 22
3. I used to be afraid of power windows because I always thought they'd malfunction at the wrong time (like falling into the lake!). Every car I had, had power locks and manual windows. I am also over this one, although I still feel like there should be a manual override.
4. I suffered from post-9/11 paranoia on trains. Whenever I rode the "L" in the city I was paranoid something was going to happen (and I rode them every day, like 4 times a day). I suspected everyone of being a terrorist. I also used to live next to the tracks and every 6 minutes it would boom past my house and I was sure we were being attacked. I sleep much better now that I've moved, and I have mentally adjusted myself to not be afraid. Luckily, it didn't keep me from doing anything in my life, except I used up a couple of vacation days on the anniversaries, but that was also out of mourning.
Oh and KiKi, I used to be super nervous around propane tanks too, or whenever was someone was fucking around with a pilot light on the stove. I got the fuck outta the house. I'm also over this as well, as I now light my own grill. I feel a little more powerful every time I do it too.

Most of my fears are quite rational.
I do have one extremely silly phobia, though:
pepper grinders
I cringe every time I am at some restaurant and some oh so solicitous server comes up and shoves a massive pepper grinder in my face in an effort to make the restaurant seem more sophisticated. It gives me this uncomfortable fear/revulsion response and I just want to bare my teeth and growl "Get that thing away from me!"
Is it just me, or are the damn things getting bigger and bigger? I swear someone shoved a 3 footer in my face not too long ago. It looked like a shillelagh. For God's sake, if I want pepper, I can get it from the shaker! Please, leave me alone!
Okay, I am done now!

I have two phobias. The second is kind of weird, too.
#1. Cockroaches. That fly. Oh god, and living in Florida.... It's the one thing I hate about this state. Oh wait, second. I forgot about Jeb. If I see a flying cockroach I'm out, and if they are anywhere near the door, I curl up into a ball holding on to a shoe.
#2 Hitting animals w/my car. I'm so afraid of injuring animals. My bf and I were on my parent's driveway the other day, and they are on a really steep hill going up, so when we got to the top of the hill my bf barely hit an alligator crossing the road. I screamed so loud, I think my scream and no the car scared the gator away!!!!

yeah my lil brother was there the day before and my dad was in London on the day, really scary because we couldn't contact him on his mobile and he goes to Kings Cross. Luckily he had left a bit later that morning and was stuck on a train just outside London. He walks past where the bus blew up everyday too. Yeah I hate that. But not nearly as much as SPIDERS.
Spiders creep me the fuck out. :(
I had to battle one as big as an ashtray once, in sri lanka, it jumped out of my bag
Spiders are lucky and they kill all the other bugs. I never kill spiders. They are welcome in my home.
You should totally come over Alex!

I am curious...is this because you are afraid it can explode and harm you, like a fear of being hurt? Or is it a fear of what they LOOK like, like of the actual tank? What started this fear do you think? Just curious! :)

I've got a few common fears, but more so i find myself being bothered by little things that really bother me...they don't "scare" me, but they give me that bad feeling inside, like i am going to explode.
I fear freeways--i haven't driven on a freeway in a couple years now. I will be a passenger, but i can't drive them, i will get a panic attack. It is the combination of speed, my lack of trust of other drivers, a horrible freeway rollover i witnessed *shutters*.
I fear bugs--not all bugs, mostly spiders, roaches, crickets, and bees/wasps.
I will run, scream, hide...i nearly crashed once when a bee flew in my open car window and landed on me. Unfortunately, i live on newly built on land in a brand new city that is only 2 years old. When i first moved into this home it was like something out of a horror film, the amount of bugs along with how many different type of bugs controlled the outside and inside of this house nearly caused me to move out the same day i moved in. I hired a superb pest company...so far so good.
I fear heights--i know it seems like a common fear, but i am worse then most. Everything from escalators to 2nd story apartments to amusement rides, to malls made me want to faint, i'm better now, but i still won't stand over a balcony more then 2 stories high. Outside resort hotels with balconies that overlook the ground i refuse to stay in unless i am ground floor as i can't walk up high stairs or walk across the balcony to get to the hotel room. I stayed in a hotel like this in Mexico, our room was on the 6th level and i would refuse to leave the room to avoid walking outside of the room so i didn't have to overlook how high i was, it is hard to explain.
Common things which give me the chills and make me want to explode
The sound of someone opening or closing a cardboard box.
The sound of styrofoam.
That dry and warm sensation on my scalp when my hairstylist blow drys my hair with a comb attachment to pull it straight.
The sound of someone cracking their knuckles.
The sound of someone chewing with their mouth open.
The feeling of dry skin, mainly on my fingers (this has turned me into a lotion freak).
Seeing someone pick at their skin or scab, etc.

I have Emetophobia, fear of vomiting. http://faq.emetophobia.net/emetophobia.html
I've had it ever since I can remember, and I honestly didn't know there was a name for it. I HATE throwing up and all the feeling and emotions associated with it, I'm deathly afraid of it, and I keep a healthy stash of Pepto, Maalox and prescription pills on hand in case I feel even the slightest hint of nausea.
And is there a name for having a phobia specifically about Black Widows? There is arachnaphobia, but I don't have a problem with spiders in general-- I let them hang out in my house if they make their home there, but I just cannot deal with the widow, I have nightmares about them on a regular basis.

I feel so much love for the praying mantis. They are the most delicate and beautiful insect.
I am phobic of small spaces filled with people. For instance, this small conference room here at work. We had about six people in it today and someone had B.O. I almost had an anxiety attack. Same with elevators. Anywhere that people are close enough to rub against me.

I am afraid of water too, lakes and oceans, but only when the water isn't clear and when it is really deep, i like to see what i am standing in. I spent a part of my early youth in Florida playing in the ocean (we lived off of the beach in Fort Lauderdale) and you'd think i'd be comfortable in the water, but i am not. I spent a weekend with friends at Canyon Lake here in Arizona and going on the boat scared me half to death, i was such a baby. It was a speed boat and we would come so close to the canyon walls, i wanted to pass out. I have a fear of the unknown and not knowing how deep the water is or what creatures inhabit it was too much for me, all i could imagine was falling in some how. THEN... one of my friends throws me in the water and they all jump in and i freaked out and jumped back into the boat, i couldn't believe people wanted to swim in that dark, smelly, cold water. Not to mention the fear of another boat running me over. When it comes to boats i'll stick with the crystal clear warm waters, i do not like lakes. I don't think i got 1 hour of sleep on that trip.

I have this same fear. Just can't stand not being able to see what all's in there. I won't swim in the ocean for anything, and lakes are a hard sell. Fear of sharks, jellyfish, etc. Being eaten alive by a shark is #1 on my list of ways I REFUSE to die. And lately they have been coming so close to shore, people are being attacked standing in waist deep water. I will never swim in the ocean. I'm a weak swimmer anyway, and always have been. I was horribly skinny as a kid and still have very little body fat, I don't know if that makes it harder to swim or not but it's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! I also don't have great lung capacity although I was always active in other sports.
And I have the common fear of spiders and snakes, cockroaches. Any kind of insects really, especially the huge tropical ones in Africa and places like that. I still have bad dreams about them and it's been years since I lived in Africa.

Awww i like bonding!!!
I am a good swimmer and STILL feel the exact same way. Attacked by a shark has got to be in my top ten of worst ways to die. I witnessed sharks in the ocean as a young child while living in Florida, which most likely spawned my fear today. Jellyfish, sting rays, etc, all fears. I recently went to Miami while on tour and my first stop was the beach because i LOVE to be near the ocean...the smell, the breeze, etc, but i refused to go any deeper into the ocean than my lower thigh.
I like the concept of camping and backpacking, but my INSANE fear of bugs prevents me from this. :? :?

I'm afraid of things like this.

MIAMI - The alligator has some foreign competition at the top of the Everglades food chain, and the results of the struggle are horror-movie messy.

A 13-foot Burmese python recently burst after it apparently tried to swallow a live, six-foot alligator whole, authorities said.
The incident has heightened biologists' fears that the nonnative snakes could threaten a host of other animal species in the Everglades.
"It means nothing in the Everglades is safe from pythons, a top-down predator," said Frank Mazzotti, a University of Florida wildlife professor.
Over the years, many pythons have been abandoned in the Everglades by pet owners.
The gory evidence of the latest gator-python encounter — the fourth documented in the past three years — was discovered and photographed last week by a helicopter pilot and wildlife researcher.
The snake was found with the gator's hindquarters protruding from its midsection. Mazzotti said the alligator may have clawed at the python's stomach as the snake tried to digest it.
In previous incidents, the alligator won or the battle was an apparent draw.
"There had been some hope that alligators can control Burmese pythons," Mazzotti said. "This indicates to me it's going to be an even draw. Sometimes alligators are going to win and sometimes the python will win."
It is unknown how many pythons are competing with the thousands of alligators in the Everglades, but at least 150 have been captured in the past two years, said Joe Wasilewski, a wildlife biologist and crocodile tracker.
Pythons could threaten many smaller species that conservationists are trying to protect, including other reptiles, otters, squirrels, woodstorks and sparrows, Mazzotti said.
Wasilewski said a 10- or 20-foot python also could pose a risk to an unwary human, especially a child. He added, however, "I don't think this is an imminent threat. This is not a `Be afraid, be very afraid' situation.'"
There's a pic here (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051005/ap_on_fe_st/gator_python).
