What do you think is better form of government, a democracy or a monarchy, and why?
Should we let the people decide, or are they too stupid to?

I dunno, they kind of go hand in hand. What I have collected in my vast years of experience (see being an angsty teen) I think they are more or less the same. The only difference is in one you think you make a difference, and in the other you know you don't.

this is a really stupid question.. but i'll answer it anyway... obviously democracy...people should be involved in how the government is run.. also you didn't specify... there are various different kinds of monarchs e.g. absolute monarchy vs something like england today which uses the symbol of the monarch but have a democratic government.....
monarchy can be autocracy which is never good.. also monarchy is elitest and you shouldn't be in power based on your family line.... look how wonderful that that turned out through centuries of history in Europe....

nowhere's truly democratic anyway, so it's a moot point. :(

monarchy!
democracy is far to inefficient, too much time spent squabble over the next election and I've never had a candidate that i truly believed represented my interests. Perhaps monarchy is the answer.

The only way to decide between a monarchy and democracy is to let the people vote on it!

Benevolent dictatorship is the best kind. Why? Cause shit actually gets done.
Actually, this is right. The only problem is selecting the proper person to run it and avoiding that fatal flaw that comes with a dictorship, WHO TAKES OVER WHEN THE DICTATOR DIES?
Monarchy fails because they tie it to a bloodline.
Democracy fails when the electorate votes without knowing what they are doing.
The only really good thing about democracy is that the transition is smooth and even when you vote in an idiot, you don't have him all that long.

Can you name one benevolent dictator? I don't think power should ever be in one person's hands... too much power leads to corruption....

The flip side is true also. Too much corruption usually leads to power.
The closest I could point to in real life, would probably have been Peter the Great in Russia, but that is based on the little I know of the events there, but it is really not important as we are speaking in the abstract. We can't really point to a successful democracy either.
Before you jump in and claim the US, remember that the US is not a democracy anymore than the USSR or China is or was a communist state. The US is a representative form of a democraticly elected government.
True democracy is to cumbersome to work in anything other than on a small scale.

It still happens to be the longest-standing (form of) government on the planet today.

Being the "longest-standing form of government" is really not much to brag about when you look at the history of long standing governments.
I noticed that you qualified that with "on the planet today." Otherwise we bring in the Roman republic, the Chinese dynasties and countless others.

Peter the Great.... yeah ok... he had his son Alexis tortured and he didn;t even reach his execution because of the torture... and that was for disagreeing with Peter's policies... also there were mass deaths in creating St. Petersburg... and when he centralized the government he created the peasantry as a completely exploited class.....
of course there is no successful democracy proven in reality, but monarchy is brutal.

I think we need Monarchy. The people are too stupid to know whats good for them, therefore, they have no right electing their own leaders.

that makes no sense.. also monarchy usually has an idiot ruler who is only in power because their father/ uncle etc etc was ruler before them...

Monarchy is not the answer as they tie the throne to bloodline rather than ability to govern.
Even the founding fathers knew that the people as a whole, could not be trusted to govern themselves. Look at the electoral college and you can see the fear of a popularly elected president.
The idea was to have the people elect people to represent their best interests, not to let the people decide every issue as in a true democracy.

Honestly every form of government sucks ass. I mean, look at Communism....it looks good on paper...but it doesnt work in real life....hence the bad rep. Same thing with Democracy...it looks good on paper..and I'm sure it started out well in 1776..but over the years, corruption and greed has turned it into a political machine with an angenda *cough Halliburton, Carlyle Group cough* Same thing with your basic Monarchy/Dictatorship......One, well balanced person running the show sounds like a good idea....but it never works.....why? Because people, by nature, are evil.

I think we should say "screw government" and go back to the Barter system. Yanno, I'll give you 3 rabbit pelts for a jug of moonshine......or 1 bear hide for a night with your wife.
