Do not post pornographic images, fetish pictures, or disturbing medical photos
Because this site is not designed strictly for adults, there are a lot of people here to whom it is illegal to show that stuff. If something is borderline, link to it with a warning as to the content, or PM a mod before posting.
Additionally, if you're about to post something that could cause trouble for users browsing while at school or work, add a "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) tag to the subject line. Sometimes a NSFW image will come up in the context of the conversation and be appropriate to link to with the label NSFW. Just make sure it doesn't fall into any of the above categories.
Use thumbnails
Don't embed full-sized pictures directly into your post. Instead, use an image host that provides thumbnails for you to link to. This will greatly improve the performance of the forum and not break the horizontal-scroll.
Anything wider than 500 pixels must be thumbnailed or it will be removed by a moderator. If you need help thumbnailing an image, just ask and a moderator will be happy to teach you.
Do not hotlink
Linking to images hosted on someone else’s website is not allowed, unless the server that is hosting the image is your own. Instead, save the image to your computer and re-host it on an image hosting site. If you don't know how to use an image hosting site, just ask and a moderator will be happy to teach you. Also, please make sure to preview your post to make sure the codes were pasted in correctly.
Do not spam
Certain links, such as personal websites or forums, may be displayed in signatures (no links to nudity, retail sites, or auction sites), but cannot be placed in an actual post. All such links will be removed by a moderator.
Do not have huge avatars
Avatars should not be greater than 80x80 pixels. If your avatar is too large, it will be removed by a moderator and replaced with something embarrassing. Once you find a suitable avatar, feel free to change it in your Profile at any time.
Do not have a huge signature
Sigs should be no larger than 150 pixels in height and around 50kb in size. This rule applies only to General Discussion. The other sections of the forum have a size limit of 80x500 pixels and 25kb. If you post in multiple sections, you're advised to stick with the smaller sig size to avoid trouble.
General Discussion is an exception, so consider yourselves special.
Do not send offensive images through PMs without permission from the recipient
If you do so, you will have that ability removed.
Explicit Language
Profanity is allowed, but personal attacks based on race, religion or sexual orientation are prohibited, as are explicit descriptions of sexual acts.
Do not troll
This has a working definition of "attempting to be as annoying as possible while still technically obeying the rules," and it's not the way to go about getting attention. There tends to be a thin line between being annoying and being funny. Those who cross it - whether through a lack of familiarity with the forums or as sad, twisted, bid for attention - will be warned or banned.
Do not create a new thread asking why another thread was locked
It was locked for a reason. PM a moderator if you really don't understand why a thread was locked.
