This show gets my vote! Anyone else watch this?

I'm almost ashamed to admit it but... when she went to address Congress, and was announced by that old guy, "Mr. Speaker! The President of the United States!" then Geena Davis walked through... I got a little teary  It was certainly an unexpected reaction!

I can't bring myself to watch it. It looks like one of those women power shows.

I don't like shows where I can tell you EVERY single story line they are going to use. I wonder when her aids won't respect her decision because she's a woman episode airs?

One of the aids was talking to Davis' character's husband (say THAT ten times fast lol), and kept referring to Mrs. Clinton did this, Mrs. Clinton always did that...

It made the aid a little annoying  but I think they were going for that, to emphasis how awkward he would feel as the new "First Lady"

I find it funny how they tried to make the title not gay in hopes that men and power hungry women will watch the show. They choose the non-gendered commander in chief instead of the ulra-gay Mrs. President.

How about the one where the cute intern eats her out in the oval office.

When the rating state to slide.

David E. Kelly had Calista Anorexic-hart make-up with a girl every time the ratings needs a boost on Ally McBeal.

I can't wait for the episode where she drives over a cliff with Susan Sarandon in the car. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Let's just say they didn't feel like actually making an Air Force One.

Donald Sutherland is a fucking diva extraordinaireAt his age, I think he has a right to be. Also, you might want to try and have a political conversation with him. He's easily one of the most politically knowledgeable and politically oriented people in Hollywood. He's a very, very smart man.

That being said, I'm not surprised by the reaction of most of the people here. Disappointingly expected, in fact. It's interesting to note that most of the people haven't shown signs of watching the show.

Granted, I've only watched the first ten minutes of the first episode (because I have to head off to my Global Politics class this morning), but the writing's incredibly sharp, the storyline is very plausible, the acting is spot on and the character dynamics, up to and including the family strife over the matter, is surprisingly good.

I also believe it'll raise a lot of important issues that should be addressed in today's day and age, including the cliches listed here in this forum because, let's face it, a cliche is simply a believable or historical truism.

I'm looking forward to watching the rest when I return home.

I HATE GEENA DAVIS. Ever since I saw her w/William Hurt in "The Accidental Tourist" I have never been able to look at her with any respect. She's awkward, I can't stand her voice - especially what they've done w/it in htis show. When she spoke to Congress, she sounded like a man her voice was so low. When I watched, all I could think is 'this is one of those 'overcoming hte odds' shows, and this one has to do w/the presidency. BOOOORRRIINGG. My reason, if I do watch any more of this series is only to see how Dnld Sutherland's character takes her down. If he can't do that, I'm out.

It felt more like a clone of West Wing with the gimmicky premise of a female President. this show won't last. As well as the 800 Lost clones crowding the new television season.

You're giving the show way too much credit, man.

The episode we're working on right now has Natasha Henstridge. Okay. THE GIRL FROM SPECIES (but she is still hot) and the set is really crappy, and Donald Sutherland won't let them shoot him from low angles because he's afraid of looking fat.

You're giving the show way too much credit, man.Perhaps. You probably know better than I do. But I see a lot of potential in the series.

As for Donald, I've heard worse demands (like Barbra Streisand's refusal to be filmed for long periods of time from her... what is it?... left side because of her crooked nose). The man's in his 80s and in the industry for almost 40 years. Like I said, I don't blame him. However, his work is still great, so I can get over it.

---

Well, I finished watching the first episode. There were some moments of pure cheese, and a few scenes which would have benefited from a re-write or two, and the directing was a little lax during Act II (I also really don't like the actor playing the First Gentleman), but overall, I greatly enjoyed it. Like I said, I think there's some great potential for the show. If the show can stay closer to the first act in terms of writing and story, it'll be very worth watching.

Saw it. Not impressed with the writing, very one dimensional characters. Not impressed with the very unrealistic view of politics. Compares very poorly to the West Wing.

No doubt. It looks like another show is trying to copy the best show on network TV right now. They took the minority President story line that 24 did so perfectly, changed it from a black president to a woman, and centered the whole show on it. They forgot one thing. Jack Fucking Bauer!

Wait, aren't you not allowed to leak information like that?

I didn't sign an NDA for this show, or for most the shows I work on for that matter.

They're few and far between for whatever reason. The best one by far though is Amazing Race. If I say the location of where the contestants go before the show airs, I can be fined up to 10 mil.

 :(

YES.

I mean, I doubt they'd be able to trace any information back to me legally if I did leak something... but it's still kind of intimidating having that million+ dollar punishment.

I will say that reality television is to your brain as jelly donuts are to your stomach, though.
