Anyone been to any good shows lately in your respective cities?

Last month I saw Foo Fighters, tonight is The Used/Alexisonfire and I have my ticket to see System of a Down next week....

There's so many good acts here lately I can't afford to go to them all.... I missed Pearl Jam and I may have to miss NIN too.....*wah*

How about you alls?

None in the last month of so. But I'm getting tickets that go on sale tomorrow morning for Slipknot and Unearth for October. I'm stoked about seeing Slipknot because I've never seen them and every major music magazine rates them in the top 10 live bands of all time.

Everclear will be performing on Guam on Oct. 5th. I don't know if I'm going to go though. I feel like I should because Everclear was the first cd I ever bought.

Franz Ferdinand is here in Chicago next Tuesday. I don't have tickets yet but I'm most likely going to go.

We just had Lollapalooza but I had plans that weekend. I also just missed Motley Crue for the same reason :(

I've got 6th row center for Springsteen in Providence next month. That'll be my 19th Bruce show. It doesn't get any better than that.

Caught Ben Folds a couple of months ago. He always puts on a good show. It was the first time I saw him with a band - bass and drums. All my previous concerts were just him and the piano. It was stellar.

Anybody ever seen Marah? They're coming to Boston next month and I'm wondering if it's worth going.

Oh yes, very. They don't run around too much though, they just kinda sit there really still, so they aren't that much fun to watch.

Damn I wanna see K-OS.

Audioslave plays tons of Rage songs because IT'S THE F'ING BAND + Chris Cornell from Soundgarden! : P Unfortunately, there's too much of Cornell in Audioslave and too little Rage. It's tough for me to say that -- I like Soundgarden! The band's sound would be better if it were somewhat Rage-ier and Machine-ier.

I'm gonna *try* to go to Felix da Housecat on Halloween and then Benny Benassi in Nov...

Edit: BNL are the best band live. Ever!

He goes to a pizza place near my house all the time, I'm pretty sure he lives in my neighbourhood because his "heaven only knows" video was filmedi n front of Monica's Cosmetic Supplies which is a few blocks from my house.

ANYWAYS, he apparently is a sexist jerk (he said "white men shouldnt lower themselves and hook up with black women")and he was insanely high at the concert but I didnt care cause it was still awesome.

i agree with your audioslave comments.. it's odd because i love rage against the machine.. and i love soundgarden ( well older soundgarden)... but there is something about chris cornell leading the guys from rage. he doesn't have the presence that zach had. also i dunno, there was sooo much enery in rage against the machine... I feel with chris cornell leading some of that enery is lost... not as intense or as passionate.

A Rain Dog
10-08-2005, 01:02 PM
Have to agree with that - it seems like the guys from RATM have to temper their own music to fit Chris' singing style.

And when i seen them it sounded like Chris' voice was a bit shot.... but it could have just been an off day.

But the RATM stuff still kicks ass!

Last night saw Slipknot with Unearth and As I lay Dying at the State Theatre in Detroit.

Fucking awesome show. I had never had the pleasure of seeing one of the top 10 live bands of all time until now. But wow were they good. Even if you don't like there music, which I love, you couldn't help but be amazed by all eight members (one broke his arm or something) stage presence. I so recommend seeing Slipknot if you get the chance.

Also As I lay Dying totally exceeded expectations. I was more excited to see Unearth, but As I Lay Dying blew them away.

Back to slipknot, there performance of duality, was the most electrifying single song performance I have ever seen with the exception of Bodies by Drowning Pool, during there peak. Duality was worth the price of the ticket by itself. Cory (the lead singer) even took a shot at one of the kegs during the perfomance. Definitly the highlight of the night.
