Emma Watson Is Woke As Hell
In an interview with Interview magazine, Jessica Chastain (who I guess is a journalist now?) talks with Emma Watson about life after Potter, her enlightenment at Brown University, and how she doesn’t trust technology. The beginning of the interview is pretty predictable, Emma grew up in the spotlight from the Harry Potter films then took some time off to “find herself” at school, basically the most abnormally normal Ivy league experience she could have.
Essentially, I took five years out to study, doing only a few smaller projects, and, to a lot of people, it seemed like I was passing up a lot of opportunity. I received a lot of angry phone calls. But I needed the space to go and explore who I was, without being under the microscope.
I knew a girl in college that needed space to go “explore who she was”. She dyed her hair green and became a lesbian for six months. Now I’m pretty sure she’s married to a lawyer named Brian. Props to Emma for not being that basic. Emma should top the list of most woke feminist actresses that don’t make me feel guilty for peeing standing up.
She then goes on to talk about her opinion on fashion, self-expression, and the philosophy of acting as a story-teller… it’s a little cliche, but I found it actually kind of interesting because I’m a sucker for “creative process” stuff. The world literally watched this girl hit puberty, so seeing that she’s developed into a reasonably self-aware and intelligent person rather than a cock-hungry coke vacuum is impressive these days.
