Dominic Cooper Might Be Jesse Custer In AMC’s ‘Preacher’

I’ve posted Chrissy Teigen topless and Coco’s giant ass twerking, so there’s definitely a big enough pageview buffer for me to talk about nerd shit. (Or I could talk about Guiliani telling Obama to act like Bill Cosby on a Friday? I didn’t think so.) So if you don’t know by now, AMC is developing the epic Garth Ennis comic Preacher – Which mops the fucking floor with The Walking Dead, by the way. – into a show written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. And now The Tracking Board, a site I’ve never heard of before, so we’re off to a good a start, is reporting Dominic Cooper is the rumored frontrunner to play Jesse Custer:

Though there have been no official offers extended to Cooper, I’m hearing that he’s the top pick to star as Jesse Custer. Cooper’s involvement could come as a surprise to some fans, who typically fan-casted actors known for grittier roles. No stranger to television, Cooper’s just finished his run on ABC’s Agent Carter and BBC America’s Flemming.
Preacher follows Jesse Custer, a reverend ripe with inner turmoil in a small Texas town, who becomes merged with a supernatural entity, birthed from both an angel and a demon, that escaped from heaven, causing him to develop the power of persuasion and capable of making anyone do anything that he commands. Together with his ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the trio sets off to find God and find answers as to why he abandoned Heaven.

While no one’s been able to get a confirmation, I actually have my own contact at AMC who texted me the following response at 6 a.m. this morning because I wasn’t sleeping or anything. Goddammit, dude.

Haha – no idea

You heard it here first.
