DJ AM found dead

August 28th, 2009 // 311 Comments

Less than a year after narrowly surviving a fiery plane crash, DJ AM was found dead this afternoon in his New York apartment. A drug overdose is believed to be the cause. TMZ reports:

Law enforcement sources tell us he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM. We’re told drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
We’re told DJ AM had not been seen or heard from for a few days — one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door.
We’re told the friend called the police, who broke down the door and then found DJ AM’s body.

Way to make the most of a second chance at life. Well played.

How is that inappropriate to say? If I survived a plane crash I could have died in, you best believe I’m gonna do my best to live life the best/cleanest way that I can, cause the bottom lines is, IT WAS ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE- And how many people get that granted? Agree with 8.

Its inappropriate because it’s making huge assumptions. So drug paraphernalia was found? Don’t be so quick to condemn the man until the C.O.D. is known. That’s insensitive.

DJs don’t always make music, most of them just play others’ music and get paid for it. What was his claim to fame, dating Nicole Ritchie? Who cares? There’s probably a thousand people who die from OD every day.

When you’re reckless, there are consequences. Why should I feel sorry for his loss of life, when obviously he didn’t care about it himself?

Yeah, it was pretty damn tasteless. He was pretty badly burned, wasn’t he? Who knows what kind of emotional toll that plane crash and its consequent injuries took on him. He may have been dealing with a ton of shit.

#24 “Why should I feel sorry for his loss of life, when obviously he didn’t care about it himself?” —-If only drug addiction/abuse were that simple. How unfortunate that you feel free to assume so much.

#11 “If I survived a plane crash I could have died in, you best believe I’m gonna do my best to live life the best/cleanest way that I can”—–Uh, yeah. that would be ideal. Wouldda been great.
…But how do you know that didn’t contribute to his drug use? Last I checked, have you ever been in a fiery plane crash that left two of your best friends dead and you suffering horrible burns?

Superficial, you’re the funniest I know, but this was neither funny, nor tasteful, nor decent. Hope you’re able to sleep tonight. And hopefully when you pass away someday no one makes such a shitty comment as you did.

LMAO. Is that a serious comment or a joke? Its unfortunate that I don’t feel sorry for people who, on their own will, decide to do something that they know will lead to their inevitably predictable death? There’s a reason they teach people not to do drugs since elementary school. If you aren’t smart enough to even get that lesson of life, then, by all means…

What’s even worse is that you expect me to care for parasites, who contribute nothing valuable to society and leech on others (including you and I) for financial and emotional support. Yeah, drug addiction is not a laughing matter, and I feel no remorse for people who choose to take the path of slow suicide while dragging down everyone else around them.

he was suffering from survivor’s guilt, and probably became addicted to the pain meds he was on from the burns he suffered during the crash… I was a huge fan of this site, checking daily but after reading that insensitive comment i think i will stick with Dlisted for now on, at least they know how to be respectful when posting about someone’s death!

He survived a deadly plane crash. Chances are he has been on pain meds ever since… it could have just been accidental. We don’t know yet… hopefully he had good judgement and it was an accidental OD. ?? Maybe he killed himself? A lot of people who survive a deadly accident feel guilt and don’t recover… whoknows.

The people that have a problem with what Fish said are idiots. He’s absolutely right. Thus dipshit was given a second chance at life after a plane crash where most of the passengers died and he goes and fucks up his chance doing drugs and o.d’ing on them. I dont feel sorry for him at all. He should have taken better care of himself. No ones fault but his own.
