In an effort to promote his new book where he claims autistic kids are really just stupid and lazy, Denis Leary sat down for the folks at Funny or Die and agreed to talk about every movie he’s ever made. Denis dishes out some great anecdotes about Wesley Snipes, Sylvester Stallone and Emilio Estevez who are, last time I checked, the most relevant and poignant superstars of today. More importantly, I laughed and sometimes I like to make a post that’s just for me. (Not counting all the ones about bikinis and Hugh Jackman women.)

His crack was against lazy parents of dumb kids who chose to blame genetics and self-diagnose a real syndrome to explain why their kids are jerks. I read what he said and I heard him explain himself. Many children suffer from autism and a variety of illnesses. He recognizes that, but was cracking on the stupid parents who just assume their kid has a disability because they don’t want to spend the effort actually teaching them. Its also a little munchausen syndrome by proxy. Some parents have a need to be special due to their misdiagnosed “special” children. Get off his back until you actually listen to what he is talking about.

I’ve read his book “Why We Suck” and I agree with everything he says! If anyone would take the time to read it, you’d see that it is all done in fun – anyone who freaks out over it is just way too sensitive and needs to chill out. Anyone who truly gets upset over his viewpoints are probably guilty of the dumbassery he is pointing out…in that case, there’s no hope for you. lol

I think Leary is okay. He can be obnoxious sometimes and its strange that he is really pimping this book out. maybe its not selling too good. He seems to have a decent TV career and not need the money. But with the internet, you can’t make as much off of TV sales and selling books is the one concrete way of making money that you can’t steal off the web and most people don’t like reading e-books.

It’s been pretty well documented that Denis pillaged the late Bill Hick’s material at an industrial rate- if his “material” was a college thesis, he’d have been expelled for plagiarism. Don’t believe me, do a little homework. Don’t WANT to believe me, wake up. However, in defense of Denis, I must point out that he started stealing Hicks’ material when Bill was still alive- that’s gotta count for something. And despite the fact that Denis’ strongest character trait is a complete absence of conscience, I feel sorry for him. It must be really hard coming up with “new material” since Hicks has been dead for 15 effing years. Denis pretty much mined that vein out anyway, but it’s truly amazing that he stretched Bill’s old material over 15 years. Perhaps if he could just buy one of Hicks’ old wastebaskets, maybe on eBay….
