Corey Feldman bailing on Corey Haim’s funeral

March 15th, 2010 // 61 Comments

Despite going on Larry King Live and chastising everyone not named Corey Feldman, Corey Feldman won’t be attending Corey Haim’s funeral tomorrow, or isn’t even invited if I’m reading this statement correctly. Via E! News:

“In the days following my best friend Corey Haim’s death, I have spent much time with his mother Judy, who has always been like a mother to me. I would love nothing more than to be by her side at Corey’s funeral, however, due to their strong religious beliefs and need for privacy, the family has decided to make Corey’s funeral on Tuesday a small private affair. Understanding the recent media attention and to be respectful of the family’s wishes, I have decided not to attend.
Instead, I will remain in Los Angeles quietly mourning and planning his memorial. As a sign of respect, I am asking the media to honor Corey Haim by making the same choice. I am working with a few people who were close to Corey to put a memorial together within the next month. At that time, the media will be invited to honor and celebrate the legacy he has left behind, along with friends, fans and the rest of the Hollywood community.”

Is it me or has Corey Feldman horribly overestimated his standing as a media draw? Don’t get me wrong, Corey Haim dying was probably the best thing Feldman could’ve hoped for to remain relevant, but does anyone even care anymore? I honestly forgot this whole thing even happened. No, really, I read this a few minutes ago and started screaming “Corey Haim’s dead?! NOOO!” before ripping down every Tiger Beat on my wall.

Seriously, aside that I must admit I enjoyed their films in the 80′s, looking at them just reminds me of how old I am and makes me think if I look that tore up too. Mr. Feldman, please just shut your pie hole.

I get what he’s saying. I don’t think he’s acting like he’s important, he just knows the vultures will be out looking to get that shot of him at the funeral. I respect his decision.

ORRRR, he IS going to the funeral, but just saying that so that paps won’t try to photograph it? Because Feldman attending is the big draw right? Ahaha…waiting for Kiefer Sutherland to “speak out”..hopefully drunk.

I’ve written about Haim and Feldman at Daily Obsession if you want to read more… I think Feldman lacks class in deciding not to go to Haim’s funeral tomorrow. It can’t be that he’s not invited — Feldman called both Judy and Corey “family” and has told press he’s driven them to Judy’s doctor appointments as she battles breast cancer. I’m disappointed in the remaining Corey…

I think it’s funny that the major media outlets (and pretty much everybody else) are nearly completely disinterested in Haim’s death, but Feldman finds a way to try to spin himself. “Are you kidding?!? You think the vultures wouldn’t be circling Corey RIGHT NOW if I hadn’t insisted they leave him alone?! I’m a fucking HERO. Print that!”

If Corey Haim was truly Corey Feldman’s friend, I don’t think he’d care if Feldman got some pub for having a memorial service for him. No matter what Feldman does, he’s gonna get slammed by somebody for it, so he might as well do what he thinks is best, whether or not it’s best for Haim and his family, it’s hard to say for certain. Who the hell knows what kind of friendship these two REALLY had. EIther way, Feldman’s a douche for protesting his cast mates for catching and eating fish on, The Surreal Life that time, so fuck him. If you had Michael Jackson pissing into cups and God knows what else, right in front of you, you’d all be fucked up, too.

Dn, even you realize what you’re saying here makes no sense as you end it with “it’s hard to say for certain.” How would Feldman ever be “slammed” for attending Haim’s funeral? How could it be “best” for him not to attend? Yes, it’s Feldman’s choice, but it is a selfish one that he’ll have to live with…

Because Feldman has reasons for not attending, whatever they are you have to take them at face value. If you don’t believe him and think he has other motives, then it’s just speculation by an objective observer. That’s why you can’t be certain. Yeah, there are some who would probably claim he’s trying to hog the limelight, or some other self motivated reason, and you know it.

He’ll have to live with NOT going to his funeral? It’s more important to be there for a friend when they’re alive, than it is when they’re going to buried. Funerals are just a ritual

And everything we do in life is selfish by nature, since ultimately it is about how it will make us feel better, or less worse about ourselves.

He was Jewish. Correct me if I’m wrong, but traditionally, only the immediate family of the deceased can attend a Jewish funeral.

Well Haim’s Toronto funeral is over. There were “hundreds” of people there including ex neighbors of Haim who remembered him and wanted to pay their respects. I still think Feldman was selfish and disrespectful for not going no matter what excuses some of you are making for it!!!! Ultimately, it was Feldman’s decision, but there’s no doubt it was selfish!!! What you have to remember is that it’s Feldman himself that kept saying Corey Haim was his “family” and “brother.”Going to the Toronto funeral wouldn’t have stopped Feldman in any way from still going ahead with his planned April Hollywood memorial for Haim. Case closed people.

So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents’ generation, try “delousing” the closet in your own jordans sheoes room.Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades; they’ll give you as many nike air force 1 times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to anything in real designer clothing life.Life is not divided into semesters.
