In case you haven’t seen this video goddamn everywhere, where it should be, above is CNN’s Poppy Harlow literally telling Candy Crowley that it was “emotional” watching two “promising” young men like Steubenville football players Adam Mays and Ma’lik Richmond have their lives ruined because they happened to be convicted of taking photos of themselves raping a 16-year-old girl and brazenly putting them all over Facebook. Just all that promise of being good at football wasted because everyone had to make a big deal about a rape they clearly felt safe and comfortable advertising without fear of prosecution because smalltown America goes absolutely gayshit for sports. CNN wants it country back! Via Raw Story:

Harlow explained that it had been “incredibly difficult” to watch “as these two young men — who had such promising futures, star football players, very good students — literally watched as they believed their life fell apart.”
“One of the young men, Ma’lik Richmond, as that sentence came down, he collapsed,” the CNN reporter recalled, adding that the convicted rapist told his attorney that “my life is over, no one is going to want me now.”
At that point, CNN played video of Richmond crying and hugging his lawyer in the courtroom.
“I was sitting about three feet from Ma’lik when he gave that statement,” Harlow said. “It was very difficult to watch.”

What’s even more amazing is that Poppy Harlow made those comments after hearing Trent Mays’ “apology” to the victim’s family when common sense and decency would’ve suggested she go a different angle like, oh I dunno, say, “Fuck the little shits.” Via CNN:

“No pictures should have been sent out, let alone been taken,” he said.

“So, listen, sorry we took pictures of us raping your daughter, that was way over the line. We’ll totally skip that part next time.” – America’s promising future

Fortunately, CNN didn’t go further by having another talking head come on and lament the consequences of these fuckheads’ actions, except oh wait, here’s legal analyst Paul Callan doing exactly that. Via Gawker:

“The most severe thing with these young men is being labeled as registered sex offenders. That label is now placed on them by Ohio law… That will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Employers, when looking up their background, will see that they’re registered sex offenders. When they move into a new neighborhood and somebody goes on the Internet, where these things are posted, neighbors will know that they are registered sex offenders.”

Oh merciful heavens, people will know these poor cherubs raped a girl and bragged about it on the Internet forever? I do believe I have the vapors. That just seems like such an awful long time for something trivial, don’t you think? Perhaps the young harlot should learn not to be so easily dragged into basements while unconscious from spirits. Boys shall be boys and the such. Margaret, do be so kind to fetch me the iced tea pitcher. I seem to have grown parched with offense.

This isn’t hard. CNN fawning over Malik Richardson because of his race. Barely mention the other lad. CNN is the worst.

  2. At the very least, these deeds will stick to the perpetrators for the rest of their lives. Hopefully like shit to a blanket, as they should. As they bloody well fucking should.

  3. After reading the article describing what they did to that girl, I have to say it was bound to happen. Something fucked up like this was bound to happen in that community. Those boys were treated like gods, allowed to come and go as they please, party til 4 in the morning, drink, drugs, sex.

You give children that kind of power with no barrier to bring them back down to reality, it can only end in a tragedy like this. Those children were allowed to do all of this because they were football players. The parents, teachers, the entire community failed those children. The blame for this falls squarely at their feet, not just these two boys.

These two little entitled bastards should count themselves lucky they were tried as juveniles. I do thank them for bringing to the forefront the realization that this kind of behavior is CRIMINAL. Hopefully every asshole jock in the country and their pathetic fans understands this now.

They RAPED A GIRL! Then they took photos and posted them online. I HOPE their football careers are as ruined as the young girls life! I am so suck of the victim being treated like shit and the public weeping for the aspiring athlete! I think the actions of Candy Crowley are as despicable as those of the rapists!

  6. TheListener

According to the CNN article, the football players penetrated the victim’s vagina with their fingers while she was passed out drunk. They knew what they were doing was wrong. Forcible penetration without consent is rape plain and simple. But teenagers might have figured it’s not rape if I use my fingers instead of my penis.

  7. SuckaMC

I’m going to bottom-line this for everyone: If they had promising football careers, they are innocent. If they didn’t, I say fry them in the electric chair. – Judge Judy

  8. That guy is crying because he found out he has to pay consequences, not because he’s sorry for what he did. As for that other idiot, what kind of apology is that!? These two are lower than pieces of shit.

  9. PeeDeeEss

The victim in this case will carry the scars of the rape for many years and probably for the rest of her life. The fact that these guys knowingly put her through that — and bragged about online to boot — tells me they’re sociopaths (no empathy, narcissistic, etc.) who will likely spend most of their lives where they belong: in prison, ideally (as others have pointed out) being raped by other sociopaths. The circle is complete!

  10. j/k

Wow so much rage. When I get angry I just eat a cookie instead of crying for someone to be raped.

  11. Don Draper's Dad

Here’s the straight dope for all you football playing rapists out there. Poppy Harlow is your girl. Now, she may be a little too compliant for your liking so just tell her you didn’t letter and got cut from the team. That should put enough fight in her to get the most violent experience. Next, and this is important, tell her you were just kidding and you are actually a star quarterback. She’ll be so grateful and won’t press charges as if you were an ACTUAL rapist. She won’t want your lives ruined.

    Poppy Harlow, rape groupie!

  12. Melanie

What kind of bullshit is it to say that CNN feels bad for rapist. Oh excuse me, future star athletes who rape young women. The biggest problem we have in this country is the media. We have no morals left and will oversee justice just to see some star athletes make the franchise money.

Also, I just realized what the courtroom pic at the top of this page has been reminding me of…
